@Zek Huh. Tbh I misremembered as him only being related to Kuina. Turns out hes… both. Which means Zoro and Kuina are related. Weird.

@Trueblade74 Justin Briner is 32. Sometimes people just sound like that. I’ll admit it may also take me time to get used to just because I’m so incredibly used to seeing him as deku lol. But I can see the logic behind it, I don’t think it’s a bad choice.

@Blake-Bakes-Cakes I know that's what he sounds like. That's also the kind of role he's supposed to be cast for. That's what "typecasting" means.
Why didn't they have Bryce Papenbrook do the role? He's been a constant regular in background roles once the dub restarted, and his Kirito typecast is far closer to adolescent pretty boy than Deku's. Has he been too busy sending in takes of THE MOMENT in the AoT finale?

Like acting like theres only one type of role youre “supposed” to be cast for is insane to me. Like don’t get me wrong I’m not saying you have to like the casting, but 28 year olds can have voices that high and of all criticisms acting like he’s ONLY allowed to voice characters way younger than him doesn’t sit right with me.
Like if you don’t think he fits how he looks or acts or whatever thats fine but I just think saying he cant voice characters because their age falls over a certain number is silly.

@Blake-Bakes-Cakes This isn't about age. This is about casting VAs with specific voice ranges into roles that fit that range. And Adult Momonosuke - a character whose human form is a long-haired mature samurai pretty boy - is not the kind of role I would associate with a voicerange like Deku's.
Skimmed the newest batch. Very little that was notable about it - animation was its usual workman level for everything save the splashes of sakuga for Yamato vs Kaido. Shame they couldn't make Jinbe vs Who's Who look better.
I mean yeah thats reasonable, just how you worded it rubbed me the wrong way idk.
Anyways I think robins fight climax in 1044 has a lot of rlly nice looking stuff. Generally enjoy these fights more in the anime now that they have more room to breathe.

For now, I think we have to safely assume it’ll just be the subbed version. They’d announce the dub if they were simuldubbing this huge series. That would be huge news.
Yeah theres no way they’d replace the cast at this point lol what. But while I’m not gonna 100% count on it, it would be weird considering how soon this will be dubbed and how they pretty much always advertise the series on there with the dub version. Are they really gonna bother adding another audio track a few months from now?

And here I thought you were referring to how Funimation's history with One Piece started with them doing Skypeia while it was on Toonami and then went backwards after it got kicked off the block.

I was going to say that Netflix doesn't have a history of streaming One Piece in a sub-only format, but then I remembered that they licensed Movie 9 and didn't dub it.
I'm also of the camp that if the Egghead episodes were to premier dubbed, that it would've been part of the announcement. Although I'd be lying if the announcement that it would be out a week behind the Japanese episodes didn't initially have me believing the same thing.
It almost makes too much sense not to. The dub is essentially caught up. They can act cool and continue releasing 12-episode batches every other month or so, but we know the dub team can work on current episodes if and when they need to.
But in any case, if Netflix is suddenly hungry for more One Piece content, they could do us ALL a favor and license ALL of the earlier One Piece movies. Air them subbed for now if they want, but ultimately hire Crunchyroll's staff to dub them. That would really get people's attention. We want Movie 6, dammit!!
Anybody else have issues ordering Collection 31 from amazon? Specifically, having a missing slip cover. I ordered a replacement and it didn't have it either and now can't get it refunded. Very frustrating.
You can always try placing a new order, then getting a refund for the new order with the old copy. I do this whenever I damage a book. F*** Amazon.

Nah, I’m still allowed to request further replacements but considering this has happened twice in a row I have to assume their entire stock is missing it. So in order to do that I’d have to use another seller which beyond the obvious of not wanting to screw over smaller businesses, the return system wouldn’t be nearly as easy.

I got Collection 31 from Amazon, when it came out and it had a slipcover. I'm more or so is annoyed the quality of the discs haven't been good lately. Since when I got Collection 33, it a had giant smug on the disc 1 of the set and It was a new disc. I had use a fabric cloth to get the giant smug off the disc.
So Crunchyroll has finally stopped including slipcovers in reprints? I guess your only hope is physical retail, or a site like ebay where people have uploaded photos of the actual copy they're selling.

The number of times Amazon USA has sent me a DVD through international post in a bag, and then refunded it when I complained that the case got smashed... They've given me a lot of free One Piece Collections over the years.

Yeah, and the case for my Collection 32 was cracked. It was under an undamaged slipcover too, so it must have been assembled that way.
@LostTimeLord that’s one way to save money. Complain that the disk is broken and get some nice free One Piece stuff. The perfect solution to a broken disc
I highly doubt its on crunchyrolls end, Collection 31 is still very recent. Its very unlikely its needed a reprint yet.
Regarding the presumed dub of The One Piece, Netflix's Monsters anime is out and has a dub recorded by Studiopolis and Chris Sabat is the narrator.

Alot of the Funi/Crunchyroll vas are doing outside work from Funi/Crunchyroll lately. Major example is the upcoming Discotek release of Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple ovas. Which almost everyone from the Kenichi tv series dub (expect a certain voice actor that got blacklist from the industry.), which Funimation originally dub is returning for the ovas.
Heard. What I meant, though, is that the cast playing Straw Hats outside of a CR property is very cool. It means that if Netflix wants to dub a movie or something, they can do so with the same CR cast we’ve grown to love.
That said, CR and Toei have an existing relationship, so I don’t expect that to happen.

I think the new standard is 4-7 weeks. I'd bet one drops this Tuesday or the following Tuesday. If they keep their insane pricing, I'm not buying again.

You’ll have to get used to it, unfortunately. They’ve mostly caught up. The releases will slow down by necessity soon—permanently—if they haven’t already.
Nah, I think everything shot up after Funi merged.
The digital prices slowly increased a little bit a few months ago, still after the merger, and then they just jumped a lot. This is what happens when one company has a stranglehold/monopoly on the industry in late capitalism.
I don’t remember exactly when the physical releases jumped in price, but I do know that the Funimation store membership offered each set around $26 as a preorder, and now those sets go for $36 on CR with a membership. That’s when I stopped buying those and only buy them on sale, too.
They are able to be so greedy because they control 90% of the market, AKA: late stage capitalism.
