Never thought I would take Hato seriously.
-
Gosh damn it Joshu, we just had a sympathetic arc if you and you're back tosquareoneater juston after just one chapter.
-
I think I heard somewhere that everyone wanna fuck their own mothers.
-
idk if I'd say that last flashback arc was sympathetic for Joshuu. If anything every arc just continues to prove that he's just an ass
-
This is just. . .wrong on every. single. level.
No, the two chapter long Milagro Man wasn't a redemption arc or a "he ain't that bad!" arcfor Joshuu cause he was a major fucking asshole in there, as usual. But this? This was just going too fucking far. And WTF was wrong with Hato? And everyone being so passive?
"Wait Daiya, let's just stand and watch my brother try to suck on our mother's tits after stripping her dress off and throwing her to the ground. I think it's totally necessary that we witness this messed up scenario! The plot demands it! No one bat an eye, try to interrump or at least look mildly fucking worried!". And I guess when she retaliated, we're to feel like she's threatening? A potential villain? Now everyone can look concerned? "Hey, she was savagely humiliated by her son, but since she fought back that means she's clearly screwed in the head, let this be a warning!".
This is all so. . .fucked up.
-
Might have expresed poorly with the sympathetic arc, I mean 'Milagro man' showed us his is not a dick for the lolz he's a dick because his head is far up his ass the his is practically an human centipede.
And I guess one could pity him for being the second more easly instead of being the former. -
Are we forgetting the part where kaato is a convicted child murderer who showed up unannounced.
And that her mere presence causes Norisuke to flip the fuck out.Not that I condone what Joshu did specifically, but he acted with aggression towards a mysterious and very suspicious trespasser.
Like Hat osaid, Norisuke told him and Daiya that she had died, so Joshu had no reason to believe her. But his actual actions were pretty meh.The suckling line was obvious taunt though. You seem to be blowing that outta proportions

I interpreted Joshuu's comeuppance as just that comeuppance not that she's mentally deranged. I actually found myself very sympathetic of Kato and her desire to be a mother for her children, I didn't get the feeling I was supposed to think she was crazy at all, I mean at least not for now without knowing her full story. I wasn't bothered by the inaction of the family because they all seem to be morally conflicted and unsure how to act, remember she's a convicted child murderer. Joshuu's always been a piece of shit but I agree he did go too far though playing devil's advocate, he could also be feeling a lot of anger and his actions weren't just because of his usual shittiness.
-
…why did she have a chair in her cards to begin with?
Unless she was banking on Joshuu doing something dumb and spearing himself with it.
-
It's always handy to have a chair on hand. Never know when you're gonna need to take a load off.
-
I hope Joshuu lives to continue to get shit on by the rest of the world and maybe make an accidental contribution to defeating the big bad.
-
Joushuu is always aiming for new lows, huh!?

I don't think Araki was aiming for Kaato to seem deranged or dangerous, but for us to empathize with her and feel she was vindicated when she punished Joushuu.
And about the others not taking action when Joushuu attacked her, Daiya seems totally confused about everything and Hato certainly looks like doesn't trust Kaato at all. If Joushuu tried to harm her seriously, I suppose they would take action anyways.
-
Then again, Caato killed a kid and we're at the point where we meet our final villain so who the fuck knows.
-
Not to mention she's been in contact with Joubin who is No. 1 on the Suspicious Fucker List.
Joshu being a shit for three page is a drop in the bucket here.On a more positive note, Gappy! What a cool guy, trying to help out Holly like that.
-
It was like watching Empire….with powers and a more annoying son.

Can someone please explain why we're calling him Gappy? I forget

Especially since we are a couple chapters removed from Damo having the entire family at his complete mercy in their home. I'm not surprised that Joshu would be hostile and antagonistic against someone that he barely knows and that scares the everloving shit out of his father

Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town version with Kira

The one thing that does get to me, though, is Yukako. Not only does she not really change at all from who she was in her intro, she ends up with Koichi by manipulating him with stand powers, which really just makes her a worse person in my eyes.
Thank God somebody realizes how fucked up this is! Honestly, I've been shocked over okay most fans seems to be with it! I've only seen someone criticizing it once elsewhere.
And then there's the nagging feeling behind my head saying that folks would've been much more critical about it had their genders been reversed…
-
Yukako mostly suffered from that thing most Part 4 characters had
Not getting enough attention. Even though she had plenty of room to develop, she's an absolute non-entity after Cinderella (which is just a plot device to set up Kira's switch, at that)
Granted she's at least a fun antagonist, unlike characters who show up late and get nowhere ( aka The Tragedy of Mikitaka) -
Part 4 has a ton of that. Shigechi and Cinderella feel so forced into the plot simply so Kira can kill them. They get no screen time at all outside of that and their introduction. It bugs me.
-
Okuyasu also suffers from lack of focus, which is tragic since he's so amusing. Dude never gets to do anything important, despite having an interesting stand and fun personality. In comparison, Koichi gets about as many spotlights as Josuke in the first half, and even Rohan, who shows up pretty late, gets more to do than him.
This is happening to Noriuske, too, in part 8. He's one of the best characters the series has had, but friggen Joshu's had more spotlights than his one.

I shit you not, I have had hours-long discussions on why certain events in Part 4 would have been better if they had either happened to Okuyasu or if Okuyasu had been there for them. He's just too good for this world.

Agree on both parts. Part 8 is my favourite hands down (SBR is 2nd) but multiple characters are lacking focus. Norisuke is a great character and super important but gets sidelined. Kira's sister has a badass stand and has the Joestar birthmark yet has done almost nothing since fighting JoJo. She could have at least also gone to the hospital to visit her mom and/or have updated JoJo on the whole hospital money not coming in anymore!
but no instead of getting development on any of the multiple characters who need it we got 2 whole months dedicated to telling us what we already knew: Joshu is a complete piece of shit.
Also Rohan getting a better role than Okuyasu always bugged me. Also it seemed sorta "forced" for Rohan becoming "buddies" with the group.

I agree with all of this as well. But to be fair in regards to Rohan, Araki at least plays up how Josuke and Rohan utterly despise each other. And Koichi was a legitimate fan of Rohan's work, at least. It's not a case as awkward as, say, Yukako as an example mentioned before in the thread. Not that it isn't forced at all, I'm just Saiyan.

DayDream Vol. 1 is up boys.
Still no Kira´s theme, but at least we got Crime Scene Express

Yukako is all kinds of messed up for other reasons (honestly the majority of character relationships in part 4 are messed up) but putting aside how messed up her character arc is:
a) She only appears a handful of times
b) Koichi was the only main character that she did horrible stuff to and he forgave her (regardless of if that makes sense)
So with Yukako it is like
Josuke: "Isn't that the crazy girl?"
Koichi: "Yeah but we are going out now"with Rohan it is "Hey remember that guy who tried to kill Okuyasu and Josuke? they all work together with him now" and suddenly he is the star of multiple arcs (Rock Paper Scissors kid, Highway Star and Cheap Trick).
Rohan is still a far more likeable character than a piece of shit like Joshu, it just always kind of bugged me that he went from villain to hero without so much as saying sorry.
Art in its highest form.
I would pay money for some kind of official Duwang Dub/Sub for the anime.

Of course, I completely agree. Although it does make me wonder about what it would have been like if Araki went through with having Hol Horse become a party member in Stardust Crusaders.

Probably shrug and not give a damn considering he let Kakayoin join….despite him using his stand to gouge out a dude's eye and cause serious internal injuries to the nurse it possessed. While the argument will be he did that under Dio's influence, Polnareff was possessed too and didn't do anything bad.

You can't really compare the two situations since Kakyoin's Stand can possess people while Polnareff invited the Crusaders to an isolated area. Even while possessed, he had an absurd amount of pride (which is exactly why Avdol spared him since Polnareff accepted his fate instead of going for a sneak attack). Polnareff exhibited more willpower to adhere to his principles, but I don't really think it's fair to put Kakyoin in that position (especially due to his last minute backstory and not having any friends), especially since he was so remorseful and joined them for the sake of healing Holly just for taking care of him for a day or something lol.
-
True though it does further illustrate Araki's penchant for weirdness and conveniently hand-waving it.

Of course lol. This manga is all about Araki just doing whatever seems cool to him, even if it seems almost paradoxical in literal bizarreness.

It is announced that Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable going to have a live-adaptation movie.
-
Looking forward for the Duwang subs on that one.
-
I guess they opted for DIU because they couldnt find tall guys for SC.
-
What made them choose this part in particular to adapt into live action? Still need to catch up on part three, so dont know if this part is maybe easier to adapt because of its setting etc?
And can they even cram the story into one movie?

The suburban locale definitely plays a factor. But I think it's mainly because Part 4 is the most slice of life-esque out of the whole series. There are a lot of side-characters and arcs that can be cut in favor of mainly focusing on the gradual main plot focused around finding Kira. Also, if they made Phantom Blood (which could also work as a movie), that may tie them down towards having to also do Stardust Crusaders if they want a sequel.
-
Ah okay. Definitely sounds like out of all the currently adapted parts in the anime the fourth one is the most suited for live action.
