Chapter 770: Elbaf's Spear

Is this a serious post?
I believe he's mocking the spoiler thread. I saw only first 2 pages, and after the chapter came out, so I might be wrong.
-
Is this a serious post?
Obviously not. If you're going to do a serious power level post. You base it around the Cavendish power scale.
-
-
@superv:
its a battlefield, and oda is trying to make it as chaotic as possible, much like a real battlefield.
He sacrifices reality for the story constantly and THIS is the point he is trying to stick to?
Real. Real. This word should never be used in context of any Shonen, especially One Piece, considering how realism is treated in there.
-
Oda rushes? The manner of his defeat tells us a lot about what future holds, actually.
Sadly i have to agree with you.Surely Oda could have spent a few more pages in order to present his powers,yet he didn't even give the name of his fruit.And this is pretty ominous for what awaits us in the future too.
-
So wait, Machvise got taken out without even an explanation of his power? This feels wrong…
-
So,was Machvise's defeat before we get an actual explanation for his powers a first for the series?I don't know what to make of this…
@Light:
So wait, Machvise got taken out without even an explanation of his power? This feels wrong…
Vergo was before him
-
Obviously not. If you're going to do a serious power level post. You base it around the Cavendish power scale.
Argh, what was I thinking. You're totally right.
-
Not bad overall, but nothing really to write home about.
Cool to see Bellamy has COA, which probably should've been a given.
While the battle was rushed, I don't mind exactly. It's bad that it was rushed overall, because with an introduced character they should have some focus, but I can't say it's terrible. Machvise was barely expanded on, so I wasn't expecting a huge fight. If the likes of Diamante, or other characters that had focus this way went down like this, then that would be a problem for me.
-
@Light:
So wait, Machvise got taken out without even an explanation of his power? This feels wrong…
It's happens every now and then. That's what the SBS section in the volumes are for.
-
That reveal for the Jinbe story better be worth it; it is seeming drawn out and not very interesting (though I know there will be a huge payoff story-wise down the road).
Hajruudin, not only were you badass, you have done something very rare in anime/manga (especially OP); you as the LARGER character was not only the good guy, after a struggle…...........The HUGE guy won the fight and we can root for him. AWESOME!!!
-
Also, reposted from spoiler thread.
Oda commemorates Bunta Sugawara (Akainu is based on him) in the next Jump.
Sugawara passed away on 28 November 2014.
Oda is saying that he will cherish Akainu…source: Baidu
We will see the result of the popularity poll next Jump. There will be a color spread and special poster of ONE PIECE.
-
It's happens every now and then. That's what the SBS section in the volumes are for.
Yeah but at least with Sengoku and Akainu we had a clear understanding on how their powers worked. The only thing needed to be confirmed was their name. Machvise's power is especially confusing because of it's similarity to Miss Valentine's fruit so some explenation would've been in order. All it would've taken was a couple of panels…
-
There're things wrong with this chapter, that in itself is an extension with the many things wrong with Dressrosa, and the climax in particular. . .
. . .but 1-I still think this climax in particular is not par for the course or what we HAVE TO expect from now on; 75% of the players are arc specific side characters, of course they're not about to receive as much development or panel time. Usopp got an entire chapter for his sniping feat, and I'm sure Luffy's final bout with Doffy will be pretty long too. I know it now seems like the trend will be rushed climaxes involving 70 different characters fighting for very scarce panel time, but let's wait before jumping to conclusions. Law's flashback and Usopp's sniping gave me hope that, when Oda thinks it's time to go back to focusing on a scenario, he'll do it no prob.
2- From an action, fanservicey, brainless fun POV, this chapter delivered. The double-spreads are pretty, Pica doing things on a massive scale at least looks cool, and the Sho Ryu Ken was a great moment if only at a very basic shonenistic level, plus it's a giant doing SOMETHING! It was a short scuffle between undeveloped characters? Yes. The Doffy's deserve better? Yes. But for what it was? It was cool.
-
Is this a serious post?
Im not dumb, so no :) I did it for a laugh then everyone else was serious.
I believe he's mocking the spoiler thread. I saw only first 2 pages, and after the chapter came out, so I might be wrong.
This is on the 4th page.
Obviously not. If you're going to do a serious power level post. You base it around the Cavendish power scale.
I did calculate the cavendish level.
Doflamingo = 2 Hakubas.
Cavendish =/= High executive so;
Executive = 0.75 Cavendish
Bellamy = 0.5 CavendisesBecause Bellamy > Luffy..
Carry over the radish and we have;Luffy eualling to 0.125 Cavendishes
@Muq'ch_H:
He was summarising what was in the Spoiler Thread!!
Thanks Bud :)
Argh, what was I thinking. You're totally right.
Yeah man. Once people believe Bellamy > Luffy, just as the world would be unbalanced without Shichis, power levels will go into chaos with Bellamy hitting Luffy.
-

That's what we got. A showing of how his ability works, him talking about it a little and using numbers with ton. Don't know what the big deal is. If that tail and shield were so important, they would have been explained.
-
@mario:
awesome chapter seriously i think i overreacted a little bit on the spoiler thread lol
Just a bit? Really????
-
It's happens every now and then. That's what the SBS section in the volumes are for.
That's not a very good excuse i could say.Who gives a shit if Oda decides to explains Machvise's powers in a sbs corner three volumes form now?I want the explaining now where this particular character is relevant and involved in this here conflict.And if i sound like i'm complaining for a minor detail like that is because Oda taught me to expect detailed explanations.And i believe it happened only once before,during the Impel Down arc,with the Jailer Beasts but Oda admitted that he had to skip some things in order to progress the overall plot.
-
i though it was ovvious: same family, different strength of DF. How is this even a point uou guya have trouble with?
-
That's what we got. A showing of how his ability works, him talking about it a little and using numbers with ton. Don't know what the big deal is. If that tail and shield were so important, they would have been explained.
So you really think that its him that gets so heavy or light and not his shield?
-
So you really think that its him that gets so heavy or light and not his shield?
Well based on this chapter, yeah.
I mean if the ability wasn't that straightforward, it would have been touched upon more. And I don't see how he could fall under a 100 ton shield and be unhurt. Seems unneccesarily risky. If he had an ability that allowed him to change weight of other objects, using a weapon with long chains would have a lot more sense.
-
Does it look like Orlumbus has some kind of power that allows him to make people "align?"
-
So that means crew order is Zoro > franky >Luffy >Robin > Sanji.
Luffy > Chinjao. Lao g > Chinjao. That means Luffy is executive level. Not high executive
Dofla > high and normal executives
To reinforce my point, Dellinger > Bellamy and Bellamy > Luffy
So in actuality Chinjao was just shit and Luffy isnt even worth being on Bellas fanboy level.
So Dofla > Luffy Low Difficulty.
My twocents from spoiler thread.
Your 2 cents are Non sense.
LMAO. -
Good chapter I literally had to laugh out loud because of Baby 5 I hope she joins the crew.
The Strawhats need her. :ninja:
-
Argh, what was I thinking. You're totally right.
Read this. This was a legit discussion in spoilers. Its the funniest shit ive seen in my life!
@DEE:
I call it first! All what Luffy would need to beat DD's a$$ is: NAMI!
If nami appears with her new techniques. she could make the clouds vanish in an instant. DD's devil fruit would be useless. all he'd have left is his haki and high kicks!- (she's already aware of that, Law told the Sh's @ the sunnygo about Dofla's fruit abilities)
Luffy/Nami = Doflamingo's worst nightmare.
No he makes the strings.
Clouds don't make his strings.
@DEE:
all the strings are made of clouds. He's not a spiderman. He wouldn't be able to slash/cut anymore…
- Nami's gonna destroy the birdcage.
Think you need to read the manga again
@DEE:
Your 2 cents are Non sense.
LMAO.REad what you said LOLOL

I believe ton-ton or kilo-kilo DevilFruit will fit a martial artist better, imagine Sanji increasing the weight of his leg then kick you or Loa G hits you with 10kt punch.
It seems like lately some don't know how to use their Devilfruit to the fullest.
I call Bellamy's ultimate attack stupid, it requires your enemy to stand in one place for him to land a hit on them?
-
This post is deleted!
-
lots of arms being let go in this arc lol
-
Good chapter, not focusing in the battle I was expecting but good overall, it was funny and at least one of the fighters went down. Its a small progress but u have to take what you can.
Also, I don't get whats the big deal with the lack of explanation about Machvise DF power. So he can get heavy and thats it. I will accept that, for me he is just a side character, I don't know much about him and i feel he is not important for the overall plot development.
Good to see Zoro back and I would love to see soon the end of Frankys fight.
-

So he is hurt after 10t attack while his shield is on his back and when he goes all out he puts his shield under him. He didnt uses 100 or 1000 or 10 000 ton attack with shield on his back. He switched it up front when fighting gigant and when trying to crush Zoro.
When he floats he always had shield on his back. Even this chapter when he found his "foothold" and then when he went against.
I dunno, maybe I just dont get it.. or I dont want Oda using same power but with bigger numbers second time in the series.
!
Also on this page should he be pulled down by shield or should he be pushing it down with entire body if he himself weights 1 000 tons or more???
Does it look like Orlumbus has some kind of power that allows him to make people "align?"
Might be devil fruit like "command command" or something like that that makes fodder obey him.
Kind of like Kings Haki inspired power.
-

Yes, its the badass badass no mi, even more rare than logias and Mythology Zoans.
-

What is there to explain? It was already stated that he had the ton ton ability and that he was a super weight human.
We can safety assume that's the name of the devil fruit. There's nothing left to be explained. We were told what his ability was and we were shown what it did.
And are people really worried about the tail? That's equivalent to me wanting an explanation as to why Buggy has a red clown nose.
It's unimportant. -
Oda rushes? The manner of his defeat tells us a lot about what future holds, actually.
Sad, but true. To be honest, I'm hoping Vise gets back up; I mean, for god's sake, Oda didn't even explain Machvise's power; for the love of god, at least give us a devil fruit explanation page, before you decide to remove a character from battle. On a more positive note, despite the fact that I abhor Oda's decision to jump around this chapter and off an officer, I rather enjoyed it.

He can increase his body mass, what's there to explain?

Despite that asspull with Bellamy having Busoshoku Haki, the rest of the chapter was fantastic!
@A:

I agree! That dude deserves mad respect! THREE CHEERS FOR HAJRUDIN! :D
-
Machvise's down! I still wish there was more strawhats vs doflamingo pirates, but damn, it feels good that they're starting to get picked off. And ti was a nice moment too, with the giant.
Also, Pica's laugh is the best (and also one of the few things that forces Zoro to drop his bloodthirsty personality, which is always welcome). Admiral Bowling along with Baby 5 and Sai was also a highlight. The latter two have a really strange chemsitry that somehow works.
My guess is that the lower officers will get picked off one by one until only Zoro and Pica are left, and they can duke it out properly. I hope…
-

It's unimportant.It would be if the tail was only part of a costume, but
when he just grows it before going to battle? sure isn't explaining itself as much as you think it does

Ah, Oda's been specially forgetful about this kind of stuff lately. One panel Rocinante has his Kiss makeup, next panel he doesn't, next panel he has it again.
I wouldn't discard Oda forgetting about the tail on your first panel. The "Klak!" sound comes from Gladius' gun, btw.
-

Does it irritate you at all that Oda didn't even attempt to differentiate Machvise's fruit from Ms. Valentine's? That is why it needed a page of explanation. As I already stated, maybe Machvise will get up again and we'll get to see the officers can't be offed by characters that were fodderized by Luffy (Yeah, it was Luffy, but its still irritating).

Baloon filled with farts because he gets excited when he starts fighting so much that he farts.
Then he uses his fart gases to fly.
Because reasons.
! It was impossible to come up with dumber explanation

The attack doesn't stop once someone avoids it. He can still keep bouncing around.

Guys do you realize that the cover page with the massive offerings are very similar to the barrel in Thriller Bark?

Guys,that's not the point.Yes,the ability is probably the one you mentioned.But Oda ALWAYS explains all these wierd powers and leave the readers without a single doubt about a specific power,before the possessor becomes irrelevant/defeated.And this is a first.
-
Hmmph. Another chapter of jumping around. Oda is definetly better when he focuses.
Luffy's unwillingness to fight Bellamy is stupid. You took the fate of the entire country upon yourself, you don't get to waste time while insane psychopath tries to kill everyone.
Hillariously, it's the exact thing he called Vivi out in Alabasta.And Machvise is a waste of panel time. Any emotional core of this fight is ruined because we have no field of reference. I don't think him and Hajrudin exchanged a single line of dialogue before this chapter.
Not really. Luffy doesn't care about the country - he cares about his friends. The only reason he called Vivi out for that was because her dream was to save her country and she needed a wake-up call. It was never about what Luffy wanted - he just wanted her to be happy. He didn't save the country for the sake of the country, but because his friend, Vivi, wanted it to be saved and he just ran with it because, hey, if that's what his friends' dream is then sure, why not?
In this case he's dubbed Bellamy a friend. His friends' dream isn't to save the country but to fight for his dream, even if that dream isn't reachable. Luffy will then fight him because that is what Bellamy wants and Luffy? Well, he's got his friends backs. So he'll fight Bellamy.
Luffy is not a hero. At all.
Any heroic deeds attributed to him are ones that should be attributed to his friends instead - because if he weren't friends with them he just wouldn't bother to get involved except when it comes to his personal triggers (someone mistreating their 'friends', someone claiming they'll be Pirate King, promise of food… etc)
That's what makes him a pirate instead of a marine.

Mistakes like that happen from time to time. The tail will probably magically reappear for the volume release.
Yes, I realize the clank is from Gladius, I never insinuated that I thought it came from Machvise
and just ask yourself this; How likely is the chance that Oda just happened to forget to draw it in the same chapter on two successively pages? Showing him approach a group of enemies on one page, and growing the tail on the next page.
This isn't a mistake, this is like the fin of Dellinger showing up a couple of times before revealing himself to be part fishman. This is deliberate.
Edit: It was also missing when he was introduced with his text box and when he was talking to Baby 5 to call her down after attacking Doflamingo. -

I don't think he grows it. Oda just forgets to draw it.

Ms Valentine can alter her weight by making herself lighter or heavier from 1 to 10000 kilos.
Machvice can only make objects heavier, but in tons and not kilos.
You don't need an entire page to state the obvious.

From what I can see the characters are same.
Still, that doesn't have to mean that it's the same monster from Florian Triangle.
