Love being ganged up on by a Diablos and a black Diablos. First time running into black Diablos and the normal one would not back off. I didn't have any dung to shoo him off and if I wasnt stun killed by black, I'd get blind sided by the regular lol

And what's up with monsters just randomly leaving the area without warning. I finally had black almost beat after dying 4x and right in front of me he digs down and dips out. Soooo frustrating

Side note, blue rathalon is feisty as hell! Downed him first try though. Could not imagine going at these two with a melee weapon. Especially black diablos.

PS does anyone know when the main quests end ? I'm about at the first "slay nergigante" quest

Blue Rath wasn't too bad with a Charge Blade. High Rank Diablos…different story.

Same just nabbed my first Nergigante. Imo, black diablos is a tougher fight. I was able to down nergigante on my second attempt, though I think I could've the first time if I had max potions on me.

Wouldve been nice to know he can't be captured lol I went into his lair unprepared thinking I was able to trap him and it took me a bit to realize he couldn't. That final round was harsh and those dive bombs are brutal. I'm glad he can't use those consecutively lol

Got him all the way down to sleep/skull-mode last night with no faints and he killed us four times in three minutes (thanks to Felyne Insurance).

But we're going to beat this as a group. I am determined.

I got lucky that most people I know are already HR 60 -100+ lol. I basically spent time running away cause I didn't have the gear to take more than one hit.

Azure Rathalos is the reason why I can't go hunting this bastard without a long ranged weapon or the Insect Glaive, and flash pods. Because fuck him and his airborne maneuvers.

Nergigante is what happens when you cross Nosferatu Zodd and the ferocity of the Rajang. The result is the most brutal monster in the history of the franchise.

Kushala Daora blows you away with tornadoes, Teostra sends you back to the camp with its explosive fire. But Nergigante? He just throws punches, uppercuts and dive bombs the living shit out of you. No supernatural abilities, just sheer brute force.

I've gotten really good at killing him. Spent 2 hours farming him with only one failure. Got the final Nerg GS in the upgrade tree too!

Tried powershielding the Vaal Hazak breath attack. Probably didn't have enough points in guard since that one shot me at full health, though probably should just avoid it altogether since it is very telegraphed.
Luckily he didn't get me low outside of that without his effluvial status, can't wait until I can gem that out.

Shoots over 5 dung pods to get away of a diablos duo. They refuse to leave and then fucking Bazel joins in to ruin my day.

Then I found out monsters have percentages of effectiveness, and that Diablos is only 20%.

Normally the Diablos fight each other and the loser retreats afterwards. I think you just got unlucky. I actually haven't used a Dung Pod at all. Flash Pod spam is good enough for survival.

Gang got Nerg last night. One of the most fun and intense video game experiences of the past year.

Crazy how this game went from off my radar to GotY in less than a month.

I was super surprised when I beat Xeno'Jiva and shut off my console, returning today to immediately acquire the Tempered Bazels quest.
Beat that carting once forgetting my mantle (and that I have two of them now), then I got the Tempered Kirin quest.

Beat that with Stun Resistance 3, Defense Boost 5, Divine Blessing 2, Thunder Resist 3, Paralysis Resist 3, and I jump to rank 57.
Scary fight since even after all that resilience, he could still take out a big chunk of health with is stronger attacks.

Was expecting to be able to farm tempered mons and climb to these but apparently all that farming I did qualified me to get them back to back.
Haven't made any Elder weapons aside from Kirin's Lance, and I'm two Azure Horns shy of completing his armor and I'm done with him until I start on another weapon tree

With the help of a couple friends we took down 2 elder Dragon bosses (fire lion and plague dragon) I had left before I could take on the last main story boss. We seemed to be pretty close on the last boss before we ran out if faints…No idea what his name was, it was ???. Man that fight isn't super difficult but I was feeling the fatigue. He has a ton of health apparently.

I'm still not used to the Great Sword. It's a heavy weapon and chaining combos is quite difficult, specially if you intend to strike with the triple charged combo.

You can follow up the second charged strike with a wide slash (O on PS4) It's a lot faster and you don't potentially go out of range like you could with the 3rd charge.

I really need to use different weapons. I think 75% of my hunts are with dual blades. I keep telling myself to use some ranged weapons but it's way too fun just beating things to death.

I Charge Blade everything except Nerg, for which I have a set of Dual Blades. Charge Blade is super frustrating, but when you nail the full discharge, it's fantastic.

The Guard Point into Full Discharge is my favorite combo.

My preferred light weapon are the Dual Blades. Tell me it doesn't remind you of AoT when performing the Rolling Slash.

As for blunt weapons, Hammer over the Hunting Horn anyday.

It was my main weapon! Hardest thing with the heavy bowgun I'd say is mastering the reload times. Most of my deaths come from reloading at bad times.

Use the special firing mode (B on Xbox) whenever it's loaded up to save on ammo, though be careful when switching between modes.

Depends what version of the weapon, but for mods I mainly stuck with the reloading assists for faster reloading.

Other than that, use your heavy fire when you knock a monster down (wyvern ammo and cluster bombs) they deal great damage but they're slow.

Find which ammo types your gun can use and keep an eye on it's ingredients to farm when needed. I really grew to love the pierce ammo and the sticky bombs. Never go into a fight without a sufficient amount of ammo. I don't think I ever used the normal ammo.

Main thing is mastering the reload times for each ammo. It's really hard to go back to melee once you get used to the hbg

It's really not expensive to keep up with the ammo if you farm here and there.

Also make sure to reload every ammo type when the monster runs away. I forgot the name, but some guns have an alternate fire called "wyvern snipe" I think, which really packs a punch

It's really satisfying loading monsters up with delayed exploding ammos, to have the ammo go off as you hit it simultaneously with dps ammo, only to knock it down so you can get up close and fire the wyvern ammo.

That's about all my advice I can think of for now!

Woo beat the main boss. That fight definitely is a fight against fatigue. Now for optional quests, events and arena stuff.

I've picked up the bow to start using against the airborne ones and ones I just don't want to be standing under. So far it's been a fun play style. I like not having to sharpen it lol. But the bagpipe still has to be sharpened…

I'm….a lot of hours into the game and just now using the radial menu. It's so convenient! Man, I can't imagine playing an earlier game now.

Still beating up monsters for HR 100 so I can unlock the final quest. I'm trying to distract myself from the grind by going after gems and hero stones but it's taking forever. Going up only a couple ranks per sitting is rough.

I can't believe getting a crown for every monster is an achievement. That's a platinum blocker if I ever saw one lol. I only have 16 out of the current 56 crowns so unless I go on some crazy streak before hitting HR 100 those achievements will be left alone.

22th March update is packed with a lot of juicy stuff. Look forward to the new improvements for weapons and the upcoming new monsters.

I feel for a single monster release, Deviljho has shown some pretty satisfying interactions with the other monsters.
Just hope he gets a good number of maps to fight the other mons on.
I would love to see big pickle Rex fighting Diablos, Odogaron, and at least one of the Elder Dragons.

Deviljho is a nomadic wyvern, it goes wherever he pleases. Official website states this fucker may invade players on any HR quest and expeditions.

After several failed attempts and many hours of practice, I think I'm starting to get the trick with the Heavy Bowgun. Just managed to beat a Tzitzi-Ya-Ku duo and barely took any damage. The wyvern fire and the explosive shots are some of my favorites.

I'm on my way to a full set of Kirin armor for my dude. I cant get enough of the armor that doesn't look to bulky.

Now I just need more Val parts to upgrade my great sword. I finally was able to up my long sword and bow. And now I need to work or getting the fire and ice dual wield swords.

Still haven't got through high-rank yet since I took about a two-month break from the game. Just got to the optional Kirin quest and geez, it's a lot stronger than all the previous monsters.

I've told to myself many times that it's ok to not bring any dung pods, as I can deal with pretty much anything at this point. Anything except that goddamn agressive minecone invader. How can I ever hope to face off with Nergigante, when I cannot beat that fucker.

That fucker has turf wars with every apex monster. Except Odogaron, which it uses to smack us into oblivion. It also german suplexes Diablos and breaks one of its horns in the proces.

Deviljho's dragonbreath got nerfed pretty hard. Less range and way less damage as well. My armor has horrible dragon resistance and it doesn't really faze me at all

Deviljho is a 6-7 HR monster, this is to be expected. Where the bastard hurts for real is with its sheer brute force and when it uses a smaller monster as a mallet.

Then again, I had endgame equipment, so I thought I would face him off with equipment I had on in my first hunt against Bazelgeuse. Needless to say, he handed my ass pretty bad.

By the by, Capcom confirmed Lagiacrus won't be in World. To be honest, I don't expect any leviathan class to make it to the game other than Agnaktor and Mizutsune.

Haven't carted twice to a mon since I first faced against Nergigante.
Tempered Jho is pretty threatening with those wide hitting blows, especially with the Jagras in its mouth.
Maybe once I fully upgrade my armor set it won't hit me to half health with a single tail whip…

Okay, single monsters in event quests definitely get a boost in hp. Jho's hp is already high compared to mostly everything else too. I fought him once solo and I don't want to again lol. It took too long. But going online will be a bad idea I'm sure.

I was more angry at having to deal with the Handler than worrying about Jho. Is Capcom trying to make the most irritating character in existence? Why is she so flippin stupid and useless?

Tempered Deviljho is not a monster, it's a fucking demon! It hit me for a hundred damage with just one strike, this thing is insane.

The most recent patch also buffed up the damage output for all tempered monsters.

I don't mind the Handler. In fact, I find her quite endearing. She provides the right doses of humor of any MH, tags along with you no matter how dangerous the mission might be, and is also an excellent cook. She's also better equiped than you think, and her play on the Deviljho puns in that mission is downright hilarious.

I can't stand her. Nothing she says is funny to me. Can I just bring the Meowscular Chef? He seems way more competent than her.

I hit the 49 cap. Tried the tempered Kirin fight. Death ensued. Like we died pretty quickly. I think my armor is as good as it can be. I'm wearing a full Kirin set minus gloves. Thunder charm, almost maxed…stupid needing wyvern gems...My weapon I think is holding me back. I'm using a maxed Val great sword, anti para and thunder res jewels. I'm I have a glaive with fire damage that might help but I'm having the worst time trying to get a pukei sac to upgrade
