I guess this chapter would mark the last chapter of Volume 1, so V. 1 would have 7 chapters in total. So I decided to re-read everything, and the beginning chapters are much better when you have a clearer grasp of what's going on.
No more mysteries and guessing games, it's easier to understand when you start off with the knowledge that Kaneki is now a half-ghoul investigator with the Quinx squad. Going over it again is quite nice in general, sometimes I can't believe I could miss obvious stuff like Urie going around in different taxis with different drivers and Haise's RC Cell level being over 2000(!!!). Small storytelling touches like that, which are pretty informative. And this page's graffiti completely escaped my notice, and there was foreshadowing too, the investigator in Panel 4 here appears in the latest chapter here as Shinohara's son?!
And now I look pretty dumb when there are such obvious hints about Sasaki being Kaneki now. I guess I'll reserve complete judgement about TG:re until we're more chapters in and there's more plot to talk about. It could work.
@Kizuchan:
But who cares, we have a "badass" being cool. Sigh.
Wait, who're you talking about again?
Anyway, I don't hate Kaneki, he's a good main character, and had a personality than nicely reflected the themes of the stories, etc. (Though didn't he die cause of those themes lol?) but some people's fanboyism of Kaneki really irritates me. As if they could never ever ever in their lives read anything Tokyo Ghoul related without Kaneki. Saying shit like "I don't wanna drop this series, please let him be Kaneki"…Like, what are they even reading TG:re for anyway? When Amon dies for no reason, that's all fine and dandy, but when Kaneki-kun dies for story purposes, nope, never reading anything TG related ever again.
