Makes you wanna think what they will do in the anime now that the manga's finished. :/

Yeah, I got nothing on the end of this manga. Real shame tbh, but whatever. Weirdly enough I quite enjoyed season three of the anime, maybe that one will keep going for a while.

So, all the main character really learned about himself was that he liked having friends and a girlfriend and didn't care about people beyond that all that much. He also didn't like being unable to change the things going badly in his life. Isn't that true for almost every person on the planet? If that was the point, him being a completely average human, then fine. But did we really need to see that played out over and over again? There was almost no character progression for the MC in a 180 chapter manga. Sure, he lost his memories and then got them back, but that really didn't inform his character in any major way. Its not like he violently hated the humans or the CCG and being part of them gave him new insights. He just fought them because they were after him and his friends.
The only one with any kind of arc was Urie. At first i thought the Tooru would be interesting, but in the end she just decided not to be a psycotic serial killer anymore. Went from schizophrenic hallucinations to normal through the power of friendship in like one chapter. Is this Fairy Tail or what? Saiko was kinda cool i guess but there wasn't much going on with her. That Q who died was okay too. The rest i dont remember their names or anything about them, even though i just got done reading the last 30 chapters.
Saddest thing for me is how underused Touka and Hinami were in RE. The parts where they interacted with Kaneki were some of the best scenes. But they were so few and far between and there wasn't really much happening with them either. How did being imprisoned for years influence Hinami? Touka had to eat human food once, then it was never brought up again. Mostly they were just worrying on the sidelines. Touka found out her best friend was going to be executed and Kaneki was keeping that a secret from her, but then the whole thing just resolves itself without anyone doing much about it. What?
On the plus side, the art is really great sometimes and some of the poetic stuff combined with the imagery kind of worked for me. I gave up on figuring out what happened in most of the action scenes though.
When RE: started i was kinda turned off by it because it wasn't what i thought or wanted it to be. On the other hand, i kinda respected that the author didn't just do exactly what he must have known the fans wanted. Instead, he continued the story how he wanted to tell it. That's cool in its own way i think. Took 100 chapters until it got to the point where i think most fans (including me) wanted it to be. But, in the end, it didn't really pay off for me and i'm not really sure if there was a good plan as to where the story was going to begin with.
Idk, its not the worst by any stretch of the imagination, i just wish there was more to it than there turned out to be.

Ishida realized it is easier to make money off EDGE AND ANGTSY TEEENAGE POETRY AND SAD FACE BISHOUNEN
over good planning, worldbuilding, character develop that he was originally wrecking his minds over for which didn't sell until he introduced THE EDGEY WHITE HAIR kaneki.Yeah not that hard to tell why it went to shit the minute he decided fuck it it's a walking cash cow.

That image has quite the yaoi connotation.
