Best Moment: Doflamingo shooting Law :ninja:
Character of the Year: Doflamingo, duh.
Best New Character: Don Chinjao, just for the laughs. I'd say Fujitora but he's not had that many scenes yet and those he did he was mostly quietly standing next to Doflamingo.
Honourable mention goes to Elizabello.
Best Fight of the Year: Doflamingo Vs. Law/Sanji/Law again. Just because we actually saw more then just snippets of Doflamingo fighting someone.
Best surprise of the year: I'd say Koala, given we don't really know anything about the Doflamingo's personal history before he took over Dressrosa. Also kinda hope when we do find out we might see a little more of CP0.
Quote of the year: I'd say Doflamingo's dialogue from the flashback.
Funniest moment: Franky's cannon hair.
Shame of the year: The Jola fight. Instead of Nami getting to do something, we had her first affected by Jola's fruit and then overwhelmed offscreen only for Brook to be able to beat her solely because he tricks her in a bit of an obvious fashion.
Honourable mention goes to the Caribou cover story, because that actually started before 694. The first thing that it has going against it is that Caribou is a hugely unlikable character. I mean, it's pretty hard to make the audience forget the fact the guy was trying to capture young girls to then sell into slavery….especially if that's the first thing you have him do in said cover story.
Then there's the fact it was really recent. It began towards the end of PH, after we were just done with this guy at the end of FI. I feel there are other characters that could have been focused on.
And finally, the final nail in the coffin is it's so damn long and drawn out. I suppose it's better to have this then random SH doing random pose with random animal for the umpeenth millionth time.....though if it was just any random character like we had after I think Sabaody, then I'd preffer that, as those were funny and sort of new.
Second honourable mention goes to the fact that 3/4 of the Giant Squad are still nameless, a databook later. :getlost:
Worst character: Law I guess ?
Worst new character: Bartolomeo, just for all the hype he gets, and the fact his hair is stupid.
Worst fight of the year: The whole Nami and co. Vs. Jola fiasco.
Worst surprise of the year: The fact that even though we have like 8 named officers in the Doflamingo Family, Nami is leaving the island thus leaving her last one on one being Kalifa.
Also I swear to GOD if Robin doesn't get to fight someone this arc again then that will most surely become the Shame of the Year for 2014. I mean I have to count the one with Hammond as an actual fight…..because if I didn't then her last fight would be back during Skypiea and that would be just too damn depressing, but I'd preffer to not have to.
Also consider doing the same for Rebecca. She has just this arc to shine and you just introduced her as a female gladiator trained since childhood so please, please don't just have her end up never actually laying a hand on anyone and having her whole style be running around until she makes people trip and fall out of bounds…...please.
Edit:
In addition I find it odd so many people criticise King Riku. Heck so far I like the guy, plus he's a badass old man and he's actually able to fight so that makes his fairly different from Cobra.
On the subject of Bellamy, I actually don't hate the fact he chose to try and off Luffy, mostly cause there was really no great reason for him to try and be all buddies with him before. I mean he shouted a word of encouragement at him once during the fight and all but it didn't seem to have that much weight behind it.
Also adressing the D block thing, honestly I think the plan to take down Dofla is probably more interesting and I just know that if Oda spent more time on D block people would be bitching about pacing and wanting to get back to the actual plot.
