@xan:
Err the name tiki taka was relatively new but this system has existed ever since Johan Cruyff implemented in Barca decades ago.
If this is boring what's Chelsea's style of play according to you? o_O. Proper tiki taka of the Barcelona years are not boring at all!!! Yes they soak up and pull the momentum out of the opponent teams but it's very pleasing to watch consistent passing, pressing and brilliant through balls which is what "ideal" football is all about. I use the word "ideal" conforming to the term used by football purists. I am in no way supportive of ideal football but sometimes the technicality and vision is extremely beautiful to watch especially for someone who plays the game.
About the first one, i know, but after he left the style had a huge set back until it came back with Guardiola.
Barça did not play Tiki-Taka for pretty much a decade after Cruyff left.
The titles from 05 and 06, and the champions league from that year had nothing to do with Tiki-Taka.
Even though they were using the system in the youth teams, it didn´t had any impact in the main team, mosty because it was fully composed of foreign players.
So in a way, Tiki-Taka never died because if was barely relevant, at least for a decade, and even in the Cruyff era the style wasn´t as known and developed as with Pep.
About the second paragraph, i would rather not get into that discussion.
It´s like comparing apple juice with orange juice.
I find it extremelly boring and i´m not the only one. I fell asleep during the 10-11 CL final and i stopped watching the 08-09 one around the 55th minute.
I just don´t like, even though I understand peple that do.
