@Monkey:
Actually that's just sort of on the side. What he really wants is Ceasar's heart back from Law, and to keep his Kaidou business assets safe like the factory.
Doflamingo is not going to go directly after Luffy so long as he remains convinced that the arena will eventually kill him. Whether that means some underhanded tactic in the waiting room, or he has that much faith in Diamante. It's nothing Doflamingo currently has any reason to care about. Luffy is out of the way, and that's the main thing.
What made you think killing Luffy is some major goal of Doflamingo? I mean sure he is going to have him killed, and is perfectly happy to do so. But it's not his actual goal here.
And when Diamante fails? Do you think Doflamingo is just going to let Luffy go on his merry way with Law? Luffy is a major goal for Doflamingo because he is acting against him. EVen if Law is defeated (and say killed, although we all know that won't happen) and thus the brains of the operation are removed, all that would do is set Luffy on Doflamingo. There is no way the two make it out of this arc without clashing.
The pacing is odd, with a sub-villain currently receiving a lot of the build up (Diamante), and the circumstances of "defeating" DF don't actually involve fighting him so much as destroying his ability to supply Kaidou, which coming before an actual focused fight..could lead to interesting reactions from Dofla.
Considering it would get him in trouble with Kaidou.
With so much stretching out here with a big huge plot, a whole other round of combat after the arena seems like an awful lot. It might make better sense to do something different.
I agree the pacing is odd, but I don't see how Diamante has gotten any build up besides being a the Arena Champion. He's apepared in a grand total of 3 scenes since this arc began.
The nature of Dofla's actual home is totally up in the air right now.
Yes, but that's besides the point. For now, until we learn more, his kingdom is his home.
What I was attacking your post for though wasn't even the Dolfa thing, it was that you bought into the really silly idea that the arc is about to go into it's final portion.
I don't believe I ever said this arc was going into its final portion. I think it has 50 chapters left, minimum. No, we're just approaching the end of Act 1. (Which will most likely end with the Tournament, whenever that may be.)
I'm sorry if my wording may have caused you to incorrectly infer that sentiment. (I believe it was probably the "this is it," which was simply in reference to this arc being it for Doflamingo.)
