Tonight I got out to see the Southern Lord Tour:

The venue was surprisingly not too crowded, but man did the bands put on some energetic sets. It's only a shame that the crowd didn't seem to have too much energy in them until the very end. There wasn't a lot of fan interaction at all until Black Breath's set, which is a shame, since I don't think there was a weak band in the bunch. But Black Breath's set slew. It came out crisp, clear and furious. Plus, the stage at the venue is one that's just high enough to make crowd surfing really easy. The Barbary is a close second in my list of favorite venues in Philadelphia. So overall, a really fun night was had. Got to speak with the head of Black Breath after the show (he was the one that got stuck selling the band merch, haha), who was incredibly nice. I confirmed that they take their band name from the Repulsion song and wished the band good tidings on their last few shows.
Unfortunately, I don't see a lot of upcoming tours that I'm interested in this summer. The only ones that I had any interest in dissolved or is coming to a 21+ venue. There's a Jucifer show in nearby New Jersey that I might try to catch and the Tallest Man on Earth by the end of the month. The Summer Slaughter Tour this year looks fun, too, though I'll have to put up with JFAC, Periphery and Veil of Maya. On the bright side, Exhumed, Goatwhore, The Faceless and Cannibal Corpse. It will be the first Summer Slaughter I've attended for several years (back when Cryptopsy and Vader were on the lineup and I still sort of liked the Black Dahlia Murder). That could be fun.
