Trailer for Season 5 Voyage 3 is out.
Dat One Piece greatness!!!
And the synopsis on the video still has that "Robin saving Sanji" mistake. Someone over at Funi must not be paying attention…. sadly I hope someone catches it before it's too late.

Trailer for Season 5 Voyage 3 is out.
Epic trailer! Can't wait til the set comes out.
-
Good trailer, although I think it could have been cut better. Some parts didn't mesh together very well.
-
Is this the only trailer? could't find a europe region version on youtube

I've said it before, but these trailers are far too spoilerific.
Still weird to have two trailers of sets that aren't out yet.

The trailer was good. I think I'm the most excited for that voyage because of the CP9 fights. Voyage 2 will be exciting too for Robin's stuff.
-
They should be fun to watch. But hell, anything is better than this fighting underlings crap in voyage one.

I do agree these recent trailers have been a little too spoiler filled. It would be one thing if Voyage 2 was out for instance, but since it's not, it feels like they're getting a little too far ahead of themselves with revealing certain plot points.
i.e.:! Monster Chopper, Strawhats already crossing the gap, Franky fueling, Who fights who (though this has somewhat already been revealed in opening 5), Spandam and Lucci heading to the gates of justice platform, ect.
-
Any idea where these episodes end?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm actually looking forward to the filler episodes on voyage three. It'll be nice to see buggy and the others again. Must've been fun for mike, calling in all those old voices.

All of those "spoilers" except the monster chopper thing are too petty to be complaining about. The trailer only did exactly what trailers are supposed to do.
-
As with alot of One Piece-related things, I think Funimation kinda has to sprinkle a little spoilers here and there to get people interested, as there's still alot of people out there who have a bad impression of the series due to 4kids, even to this day.
-

Monster Chopper was shown in Opening 6 (which took up the entirety of the previous set) so even that shouldn't really matter, assuming the viewers don't use the Marathon Feature and actually skip the openings every single time. They'd already know about it due to Toei, not FUNimation.
@mpz777: How is Franky fueling a spoiler? I mean, it was obvious he was gonna join in the fight and it's already been established that's how he recharges!
-

I'm not complaining about the trailer at all. As a trailer by itself it's fine. The point of my post was that the things in the trailer are somewhat ahead of themselves given which voyages are out. If Voyage 2 was already out, the Voyage 3 trailer is exactly how I would expect it to be done, but Voyage 2 isn't out. If you were someone who just got voyage 1 and either did or didn't see it then watched the voyage 3 trailer, a few plot things, while yes admittedly minor, would lose some impact. ie "yeah, they'll cross the gap," "well it looks like they won't reach Robin in the tower," "I guess Franky will escape." How the trailers and voyage are lined up just makes how the plot unfolds feel a little off, that's all I was saying.
-
How about the gear second spoiler? Or Robin's past getting somewhat spoiled in the last trailer?
I don't really care, but I feel bad for he new fans.
-
Well I watched this trailer with my cousin who only watches One Piece dubbed. She thought the trailer was perfect and didn't seem affected by it at all. I think the trailer was really good and I don't think there was any big spoilers. And the trailer did its job and left you with questions that you can only find out by buying the set. (Where did Chopper get the Cola, Why was Usopp on Zoro's sword, What happened to Sanji, Where's Spandam and Robin?)
-
Who cares its just a trailer anyway. Not a big deal.
-

Gear second isn't a plot point. It's a power up which was already shown in the opening anyways. And how exactly was her past spoiled? All she said was that everything was taken from her which everyone already knew at this point since she made it painfully clear in Alabasta when Luffy saved her. I've seen dozens of New fans comment on the trailers and they all say the same thing. "can't wait". I've noticed this trend where the only people complaining about spoilers are the people who already know whats going to happen. Why is that?
-
I don't like these trailers. They tell me what this set will be about. I would much prefer trailers that leave me confused and not knowing what the basic premise of this set it.
Seriously, if they didn't include all of these 'spoilers' Funi wouldn't have anything to put in the trailer. The point of a trailer is "Ok, here's why you should be excited for this". Stuff like the who fights who and Monster Chopper and a basic premise of Robin's past get people interested and they've been shown in such a way that doesn't give too much away. People who haven't seen the series probably won't be able to make heads or tails of stuff like Monster Chopper.

Because they have the bias of knowledge.
Trailers exist to be a tease, especially for those who don't have foreknowledge. When it comes to storytelling, it's not always about what happens exactly at point "A" and point "B", but rather how point "A" gets to point "B". When you have this knowledge of how it got there, as it is for many on this forum, these trailers become rather spoiler laden. But for those who have never seen or read Enies Lobby, they don't know why Sogeking is Zoro's sword, or why Chopper is monster Chopper, or what Second Gear is and so forth and much of the excitement in enjoying the story comes from learning how this happens.
It's why I find studying history to be so much fun, because it's all about how, for example, Rome went from a simple little villiage to the most powerful and influential culture the Western World has ever seen.
-
Alright let's do this, this is where I'm coming from.
Speaking for myself, I do not like revealing spoilers to my friends, not just with One Piece but with other movies and shows too. The reason I have this strict rule for myself is because one of the things I really enjoyed when reading One Piece was the natural discovery of plot points and twists.
There are many moments through out the story that I can say blew my mind, even some little ones, and the intricate way Oda writes, sets up a lot of these moments. I don't like to spoil plot for my friends because it then ruins their discovery of those moments. My friends who I've introduce to One Piece just watch the dub and some of them would pick up some of the spoilers.
I agree with the bias of knowledge as the reason why older fans are pointing this out. We would see not just direct spoilers if they popped up, but indirect spoilers too.

The problem is the youtube description tells you exactly why! (amazon too.)
All hands on deck for a Straw Hat slugfest with the assassins of CP9!
While Luffy races to save Robin from the cowardly clutches of Spandam the madman, the rest of his mates fight for their lives against the heinous henchmen of CP9! Robin steps into save Sanji from taking a beating at the hands of a lethal bathing beauty, and Chopper goes on a rampage after eating one too many Rumble Balls during his showdown with a samurai lion! Meanwhile, Franky teaches a zipper-mouthed freak a thing or two about the punching power of cola, Zoro s swordplay is hampered by being handcuffed to Usopp, and Sanji reappears just in time to introduce his wolfish opponent to the burning power of the devil s leg! The fists are officially flying, and the most epic One Piece arc ever just got brutal!
–-------
I want to reiterate that I don't have any problems with the trailer itself, I actually like and really enjoyed the trailer. What I have a problem with is the timing and release of the trailer. It's because the trailers are 2 ahead of the releases.
I'll take this to the next logical step to try to illustrate my point. Let's say Voyage 2 comes out then 2 weeks later the trailer for Voyage 4 comes out. Keep in mind, you are a new viewer, you would've seen Voyage 2 and not 3. I'm going to spoiler tag this part just in case there are people who don't know what happens then.
! The issue is that there would be a limited number of things they could highlight for the trailer of Voyage 4. What the can highlight: The Buster Call, Luffy vs Lucci, Gear 3rd, Usopp's speech and his sniping, bridge of hesitation, maybe they show everyone trapped in the flooding tunnel, and, they could show this but it would be really stupid to show, Merry to the rescue.
! Look at the Buster Call itself, it would be almost impossible to avoid in that trailer. Now while you don't know how the activation happens, you do know that it will happen. Having seen Voyage 2 you may have been thinking "will they or won't they use the Buster Call." "Maybe they'll save it for later in the series." But now that you know it does happen, the suspense of it possibly happening goes away, and when it does actually happen, the fear (and comedy) of it is lessened.
! The thing is, and this is my point, the Voyage 4 trailer would be perfectly fine after Voyage 3. Voyage 3 sets up, much better than Voyage 2, what happens in the Voyage 4 trailer. In Voyage 3 you see Spandam accidentally press the golden transponder snail and freakout. You see others panic. You would then expect to be seeing bits of the Buster Call in the Voyage 4 trailer.Let's look at this generally again. It's not simply "Point A" to "Point B", but Points A, B, and C. We've watched Point A and know what happened in it. We have not seen Point B. We see parts of Point C in a trailer. Because we know somewhat where the characters will be physically and mentally in Point C, when we finally start watching Point B, the build up and suspense leading up to Point C has less of an impact. The trailer for Point C should come after Point B IMO.
Look, you wouldn't watch Star Wars, skip Empire, and watch the trailer for Return of The Jedi would you? You would go "Looks like Luke lost a hand", "Whoa, Han is trapped in stone", "The Death Star is back!", and "Why did Vader call Luke 'son'?" The Empire Strikes Back would lose a lot of its impact.
That's how I feel about the trailer schedule.
Rant Over
Remember these are just my thoughts and opinions. I just think Funi's releasing some of the trailers too soon. They're still good though!
-
Ok, I missed the part where you tube has the description….way to go FUNimation...
You definitely have a point there. I didn't think of that probably because I usually don't watch trailers in places where it will have accompanying descriptions.
But that is about as far as I can agree with you. Your Star Wars example would be the same way, if the Jedi trailer also gave a paragraph recap of Empire. I suspect that in many cases, though not all, if people did see Star Wars, skipped Empire, then saw the trailer for Jedi, complete with all the things you mentioned, but without that Empire recap....I would expect people to have a reaction more along the lines of, "What the hell did I miss?!?" and I don't think that the impact would be lost, so much as changed into something a bit different. Though again, it comes back to how it got to point "C" from what they last knew at point "A".
-
Jeez come on guys they have they just have to show content that's on that DVD set. The trailer is for that set so they can show whatever they want on that from that set then.
Anyways Otakon is this weekend. FUNimation panel this Saturday. Pretty sure we'll hear S6 news then.
-
Can't wait to hear! I predict film z and season six. I'd prefer to hear about another film or special, though.
-
I'm expecting a trailer or teaser for Strong World, along with a Season 6 announcement.
-
Season 6 announcement would be incredible. I have a feeling they're gonna announce a Bebop license rescue and Blu-ray though, which would steal the show. Especially with Yoko Kanno there and Sunrise having such big prominence.
A cast reveal for Strong World would be sweet too.
-
I don't think we will get a trailer or cast for strong world yet because we still get the guess brooks voice thing contest…

It good to hear that someone still knows that ,instead of spreading nonsense wich other people make discussion about…..
i'm thinking no Z no trailer probebly no season 6 after 5 is finished.

Why would they announce Season 6 after Season 5 is finished? If its not announced this year that means there will be another break. Announcing after season 5 is finished would take a year just to get to Season 6 then. Film Z is likely since FUNi is going for the most popular films and there was that S6 + Film Z leak last year. There was also that 372 thing on the website so I'm confident Film Z and S6 will be announced.
Anyways I won't expect a trailer until September since FUNi is just putting out trailers now for their October things. Besides OP I hope that FUNi announces Beelzebub or Hunter x Hunter.
-
I wonder how big season six will be. Just thriller bark? More? Film Z would be a nice announcement, but is still prefer the older films.

I'm thinking it would end after the Spa Island Filler arc, but the end of Sabaody seems plausible.

It's possible for Funi to cut a trailer without dialogue from the main cast or with just a narration.
They've done it before. Just look at their trailer for FMA: Sacred Star of Milos. -
Or it could be like their regular trailers but just not have Brook's voice in it, wouldn't be that hard to do, he's not particularly prominent in the plotline.

What the heck are you talking about? Keep that passive-aggressive crap outta here, no one's spreading nonsense.
-
I think season 6 will most likely happen but a trailer would be nice for strong world
-
They could reveal the voice in the trailer. Then the competition would be to guess the voice actor…
-
I'm hopeful for the Season 6 announcement. Since Funi has hinted they're already done with dubbing Season 5, it feels as though Funi has already started working on Season 6, so I don't see another break happening. A Strong World trailer would be great too. I don't know Funi's process for when they normally release movie trailers, but showing it on Toonami as well would also be pretty cool too if they did that.
On another note, the extra's for S5V3 say that Jonathan Brooks and Jason Leibrecht will be the On The Boat interviews, which should be pretty interesting hearing from a comedic villain and serious villain. Still no Luci Christian yet, but I remember Mike saying it was hard just to get her in for a commentary since she lives further away, so it's understandable why she hasn't done one yet.

Looks like S5V2 is in stock at AnimeCornerStore.com now.

Weird. Didn't know anyone else shipped early. Looking forward to seeing the set. Haven't even started watching the special features for the old one yet. My rationing is just too good.

I buy from both, AnimeCornerStore & Rightstuf are the only ones that ship early as far as I know. ACS is just slightly less or more expensive depending on the item.

Oh yay, that is awesome… AAA Anime is also listing the DVD as New rather than having the street date there so hopefully with luck TRSI will update very soon.
Oh so it seems that it is way earlier than I anticipated seeing as I said hopefully shipping the week of 19th August... It makes me so happy I have to go ahead and quote one of my favourite qoutes from my good buddy Snake Eyes again, lol
_@Snake-Eyes2011:
Here we go again…
there is no way that would happen if the release date is 3 sept.Dreamworld vs Reality._
-
Lately RightStuf has been shipping stuff waaay early. Several orders I wasn't expecting until closer to August shipped to me during the middle of July. Given S5 V2 early September release it would not surprise me if it started shipping within the next week or so.
-
If, for whatever reason, it doesn't ship in a week, I'll switch to the other site. …no loyalty.
-
Well I guess I was wrong, but in cases like these, is being wrong so bad?
-
So my RightStuf order has just updated and One Piece Season 5, Voyage 2 says "Reserved for your order" So it looks like they are shipping it out now as well. :)
-
Getting charged. It's shipping today. Wow. It's only been two and a half weeks since the last set came. This is awesome.
-
Great. I ordered S5V2 from Amazon after getting a gift card for my birthday. And naturally the set is shipping out SUPER ULTRA MEGA DELUXE early from Rightstuf.
Maybe I should cancel and order from Rightstuf instead regardless.
EDIT: Yeah I bit the bullet and changed to Rightstuf. <_<
-
"Reserved for your order" dem some sexy words. I'm looking forward to this :)
-
WOW!!!!!!! Already!?!?!? Holy cow!!!
