As someone who has actually heard Kumas voice extensively i can say that the voice fits him perfectly

Joel's portrayal was a little off for me, but then again so was the seiyuu's when this originally aired. I watched it a couple of times, and like many other voices or dubbed songs from the past it began to sink in and I started to really like it.
He's not that far off from the seiyuu. I'm really looking forward to hearing more from him!

I know some don't like this voice for him and I can understand. I personally love it though, I really like Kuma's more soft spoken tone is contrast with his big stature. I think it's neat

I was going to wait until I picked up the set, but I'll give my two cents on Joel's Kuma.
I personally like it, but it's lacking the "sinister" vibe that Hideyuki Hori gave off. It fits yet it doesn't, if that makes any sense.
It's not enough dialogue to make a final decision on, but it's one of the performances that will take some getting used to and it'll have to grow on me.I'm interested to see how they handle the Zoro sacrifice scene.

Hahaha awesome. They nailed it.

See, this is kind of where I hold issue with this. The VA isn't supposed to follow the lead of the Japanese seiyuu, he's supposed to shoot his own interpretation of the character, while still maintaining the dignity and integrity of the cataracter in the authors original work (Oda).
-
More of Kuma:
Anyone worried about Eng. Kuma not having that "hollow" sound, he sure sounds like he has it this clip. -
Uh-Huh.
I bet you like the Japanese voice, though. -__-
I don't watch the Japanese version (I've seen clips here and there, but no idea how Kuma sounds in Japanese). I watch the English dub + read the manga.
-
Kind of on topic, and I bet it's already been discussed, but I finally watched Film Z. It was okay. The animation seemed dodgy in some places, the story didn't feel like it deserved as much time as it got. I liked Strong World a lot more.
I really don't like Borsalino's voice. It doesn't sound as playful as I imagined it did. Sakazuki's was okay as well, though I wish his voice was deeper than it is. Kuzan seemed alright (still haven't watched far enough for his first appearance).

Is it true that voyage 4 is on januari 15th

Is it true that voyage 4 is on januari 15th
no that would be Voyage 3 it was delayed to January 13th
-
Speaking of voyage four, I suspect we'll hear about that in the March solicitaions early next week.
-
I definitely liked Kuma's voice more in the second clip. It's pretty much what I expected him to sound like in English.

wow so no one piece in february, just when i thought they was finally dubbing faster smh

My wallet needs the break.

My wallet needs the break.
This is pretty much why too many releases close together is bad. It saturates the market and people buy less.
-
It would be nice if they went back to the regular 13-episodes a set.
-
yeah the over saturation does make sense but they should at least put 15 episodes a voyage

Never said that sounding exactly like the seiyuu is the end of debate, but it's admirable when achieved. I think the English voice has a good take on the character.
-
Really? I love the sets coming out every six weeks; any slower and I run out of one piece when I ration it. Any slower and we'll never catch up to the damn Japanese release.
I really don't want it to come out any slower.
-
Not everyone is made out of money though. Or willing to spend so quick on One Piece.

Which is totally understandable, but simply not purchasing the sets until funds are available or waiting for cheaper alternatives (collections, streaming from Funimation's website) are all viable options for people wanting to save more money if the sets continue to come out at the quicker ~6-week pace.
-
I agree. Personally I haven't been watching the sets like I used to but I still want them to release just as quick as before. As they start getting to the end of this season and start jumping into stuff like Sabaody I'm sure I'll be more excited about the sets again.
-
I think two to three months is a good medium ground for the time between releasing new sets. Releasing them too far apart for no reason would be of no benefit to them but on the other hand releasing sets only a few weeks after one another would not allow for any breathing room for consumers who don't have an endless supply of money to spend on the shows they like. Voyage 4 coming out in March seems like a fine choice on their part.

I haven't been excited about thriller bark either, but I really will love seeing the later arcs.

Agreed! No need for those unwilling to spend money to stop those that are. If one isn't willing to buy on a 6 week release schedule, they can buy on whatever schedule they want, regardless of when The DVDs are actually released by funi.
Here's to hoping for a quick release schedule. It's too hard to ration 12 episodes over three months, especially when you know there's bound to be a break at the end of every season.
-
I really can't wait for the sets covering Sabaody to come out. It was easily my favorite arc of the anime to date.

Perhaps its a sales issue though. Like FUNi notices the sets sale more when they're not released as close to each other, as opposed when they are. That would be understandable. It's not a big deal anyway, you guys will live.

They've been on the sic week thing for a while. It's working fine so far as I know. If there is an issue with sales this season, it's probably just because people don't love Thriller Bark as much as the preceding or later arcs. I always hear folks saying it's too slowly paced in the anime.

Well the slow pace thing is going to be constant from now on. This is the point where episodes mainly only cover 1 chapter of material.
That being said, I'm sure there's a good reason as to why they may be slowing down on releases. It isn't the ideal way for us, but there's probably reasons that are beyond our understanding at the moment. Might as well take it as it is. We can't really make any type of call because we don't have the full details.

Hey guys i came across this petition to get One Piece Pirate warriors dubbed , though i am sure it wont change nothing it doesn't hurt to sign because i would love it if this happens
-
Online petitions won't even catch the attention of Bandai Namco or Funimation.
Twitter, facebook, and e-mailing exist for a reason.

Enies Lobby had a much slower pace.
The whole Water 7/Enies Lobby ordeal took a good chunk of the series. -

The whole Water 7/Enies Lobby ordeal took a good chunk of the series.I actually never thought that Water 7/Enies Lobby was all that badly paced excepting two thingsā¦..the Luffy/Lucci fight did go on for a lot longer than it really should have. Secondly, having it interrupted in the midst of the action by the Fuedal era stories killed the momentum and made it feel dragged out.
Dressrosa is looking like it's going to beat out Water 7/Enies Lobby though. Latest simulcast episode...now there is what I call dragged out and slow paced.

The arcs all get longer and more dragged the longer the anime airs. Now with Oda's breaks, the anime is about 30 chapters away from where the manga is at. The only series I've seen that are that close are ones that are going to end (Naruto, various other anime that have no true ending) and seasonal anime (Attack on Titan, Magi).
I seriously don't know what Toei is gonna do⦠They're gonna have to put a random filler arc amidst all the canon (ala Bleach) at this point....

They were closer to the manga at the end of Skypiea. They'll continue to just pad out the episodes and widen the gap by forcing filler into the canon.

These games seem to have some sort of Sony exclusivity deal, so probably not.

Well looks like no One Piece in March either. Kind of sucks, but there's nothing we can do about it.
-
Eh, oh well. We can at least keep our fingers crossed for April and (hopefully) a Season 7 announcement.
-
Wow no One piece in March, looking like 2013 all over again with these sparse releases. At this rate i will be 30(curently 25) before they even reach fishman island
-

It's useless to even look at things this way with One Piece.
At the rate the damn series is going, we're all be old farts by the end of it, anyway. Comes with the territory.
Let.s not act like spoiled brats and exclaim stuff we have no possible way of knowing, now. The situation is what it is, and we just have to accept it. Whether or not rationing the episodes with these release format sucks, or if you prefer a faster release schedule is irrelevant. Because whatever it is, there is something that is making FUNi release the DVDs this way, and since they're in the business, I'm sure it's a good reason.
-
I don't see the harm in bitching and moaning just a little about something you're unhappy with. The bitching and moaning about other people bitching and moaning is usually much worse and much longer to read.
Too bad about no March solicitation; it's the last thriller bark set, and I'm anxious as hell for sabaody.
-
The dealy from the last set is the reason i created this account to bitch and moan about it lol i was so glad to see i was not alone
-
Eh, oh well. We can at least keep our fingers crossed for April and (hopefully) a Season 7 announcement.
I agree. I'm more interested in them announcing season 7 along with season 8 (hopefully) to finish off the pre-timeskip portion.
I got to say if we get One Piece releases up till ep. 500 and beyond, I'd call that a goddamn success cause I never could've dreamed of that happening. I'm also glad Funi got OP when the did cause I don't know If we would've gotten the great cast that we have now.
-
If anything this is just more proof that Funimation has nothing One Piece related coming out after this next set. Wellā¦.......at least it's better than them lying to us the way they did back when Season 5 Voyage 1 was coming out in May, lol
We know season 6 is completely dubbed, Funimation is just refusing to release it in a timely manner.
I would like some season 7 information at this point though.
-
I don't see the harm in bitching and moaning just a little about something you're unhappy with.
Because it solves nothing and is annoying? I donāt think referring to it as ābitching and moaningā makes it sound all that reasonableā¦
We know season 6 is completely dubbed, Funimation is just refusing to release it in a timely manner.
Perhaps thereās a reason for thatā¦maybeā¦
I mean, if theyāve finished dubbing season 6 at this point I would think the most obvious thing to do would be to finish releasing the season as soon as possible. The only thing I can think of is that they might be dubbing season 7 currently but donāt have quite enough episodes done yet to start releasing. If thatās the case they might to space out the releases a bit more so that there isn't too long of a break between seasons, otherwise I can't see why they wouldn't just finish up the season.

There's some very interesting insight from ADR Director Joel McDonald and the voice of Brook on this week's podcast, for those who'd like to give it a listen:

Film Z seems to be among FUNi's best sellers. The only other thing I can find that shares the same status is DBZ Battle of Gods. Really good news.
