I have a new computer. Is there any way to transfer the songs on my iPod on to my new computer? It would suck if I had to upload everything again…

I remember I once got an mp3 player or something like that once and it had a upload/download option when I hooked it up my computer. Maybe ipods have one too?
-
Itunes doesn't support transfer from ipod to computer, only from computer to ipod (some sort of stupid anti-piracy measure or something). So to get the songs off of your ipod and onto your computer you will need a third party app. There are apparently a lot of them out there but I can't personally recommend one.

Aiight. I downloaded CopyPod. Before I run it, does anyone have any experience with the program?
-
never heard of copypod. i heard of ipodrip, but never used that as well. i usually just plug my altec speakers straight to the ipod whenever i want to listen to a song.
by the way, vilda, i just noticed your member title… what the? o_O

I mean, er….iPod!

I dunno if I missed the punch, but I recommend iPodAgent. It works very well for me.
-
iPodAgent costs money, does it not?
-
I've seen ipodagent recommended. It does cost money but it has a 15 day free trial. Sounds like that will be more than enough.

bumpin up thread.
i was talking to an old friend of mine, and apparently she figured out a way to transfer songs FROM iPOD to a PC (running windows, not OSX) without 3rd party softwares. i haven't tried it out, but maybe one of you could and tell us if it actually works:
make sure that you have "view hidden files" option checked. i think to do this you open up my computer, go to tools, then options or folder options, and then click on tab ADVANCED.
open up my computer, go to the ipod.
there should be a hidden directory called IPOD_CONTROL
inside this directory there should be another one called MUSIC
and inside this should be all your music files.
now someone test it out and let me know. i'm too lazy to plug in my ipod to my PC. ^^;

holy guacamole! it worked!
HOWEVER…..
the stupid ipod or itunes itself renamed everything in stupid ways
all songs have a 4 letter name (turns out I have BUTT.mp3 on my ipod - wtf?)
the tags are intact but the file names are effedbows to e1n's greatness
-
bow to my friend's greatness. i am merely a messenger of good news. =P

i use ipodrip , it works really well, when you open it, the program lists all the songs on your ipod and u can import them to your comp into the desired folder, and when it uploads it to your computer it also updates it on your ipod library, so nothing is changed. its awesome! works like a charm on a new comp

I can't seem to rip songs from my HD onto my iPod. It worked on my other computer. I entered the exact same personal info from my other computer when I installed iTunes. Is that why?

Just put all your songs in a folder. Then upload the folder do a memorystick, CD, floppydisk, ect.
