Pokemon Black And White 2
-
-
@Aaron no I didn't looks like his color didn't matter.
Wow no Grey version against all odds but hey no immidiate complaints here.
Looking forward to it.
-
Yeah, was really not expecting 2 extra versions. That was pretty surprising. Wonder what new features they'll have
-
I'm.. I'm not sure if these new fused forms look like pokemon critters anymore, but they're still something alright.
!
Guess I'll be going with Black 2 as, like almost everyone else, I bought White earlier. Not sure if I like the idea of naming the games Black & White 2 instead of just making one new game and stylishly christening it "Grey" though. It just doesn't feel quite right. -
Based on a different picture we got, I think they're colors actually correspond properly to their version this time
-
DS? Really..? They could have gotten a lot more 3DS sales from Pokemon.
Although, I guess they're waiting until a real new Gen to bring the main series to the 3DS.
-

Best news in this thread so far.
From a business and connectivity standpoint, the 3DS isn't getting an exclusive gen in a looong time.
-
Yeah and apparently it's part of a trilogy.
Massive milkage. Not that there's anything wrong with it but come on.. the pokemon don't even look like pokemon anymore.
-

Yeah they opted for the safer DS route, which I think is actually a good choice for now. Most of us casual gamers haven't gotten our hands on the fairly expensive 3DS as of yet – people are still waiting for the prices to come down a bit -- and demanding a change in hardware just for this one sequel wouldn't have been all that sensible. Not everyone would have bought the newer handheld just because they need to have yet another similar Pokémon experience with a slightly rehashed story.
I'm betting the next generation OR the assumed R/S remakes are going to be 3DS only. It would make much more sense. Nintendo needs a new flagship game for their new console or it won't sell.
Oh well, as long as I get to keep playing these games on my trusty old DS that still has the oh-so-lovely GBA slot built in, I have no complaints. Best news I've heard in a while.
-
Holy holocaust Batman!
Bulbanews's twitter is constantly updating right now with news on this. As you guys have mentioned it's for the DS but seems to have certain upgrades with the 3DS. They also SPECULATE that it may be a direct sequel to the plot, rather than a remake like most 3rd versions.
-
I just heard it was part of a trilogy and this one will be a direct sequel and not a remake.. so yeah, a remake wouldn't make much sense, considering the title as well.
-
Wait a minute.. If it's a direct sequal instead of another remake, will we be able to actually port our teams and stuff over to the new game somehow? Knowing the DS mechanics it doesn't seem feasible, but a man can always dream, no?
In any case, I'm happy it might actually be a sequel instead of a rehash of the plot. I always thought B/W was a little short and ended way too abruptly. That even made me lose interest in the freaking thing to the extent where I just literally removed the game from the slot and let it rot in a drawer after I had beaten the elite four, N and Ghetsis.
-
I just thought of something! What if it takes place some time after Black and White, but still in Unova. As in your character is another trainer and Ghetsis is up to a new scheme involving Kyurem.
-
I'm really hoping it's a direct sequel. That would be great.
-
The idea of a direct sequel is…well, I guess I can see it, as Black and White did try to have an actual plot. I'm just going to wait and see how this turns out.
But now this means that Devil Survivor 2 probably won't be my farewell DS game.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Damn, they've already been officially confirmed for English release. I know it was inevitable, but that's some staggeringly-fast turnaround time.
-
I'm kinda sure it would be the same formula with different sequences and "badge breaks"(as in some thing that happens that prevents you from doing a Gym). Not expecting anything spectacular, as I thought BW's story wasn't very good or interesting to begin with(it sorta reminded me of a watered down Yugioh towards the end).
-
I just hope its being a sequel doesn't mean I have to furiously tap B through twice as much dialogue I couldn't care less about
-
Aw it was my favorite since the first game. Hiroy you're brrrrrrrreaking my hearrrrrrrrt
-
So much to say…
The fact that they are really a sequel (like G/S/C, right?) makes me very excited. I haven't played Black or White, though. I was waiting for Grey... On the 3DS. Because my 3DS is my only working DS, and I heard the backward compatibility doesn't work so great with Black/White.
So.... Why are they releasing these for the DS? It doesn't seem like the wisest move. The DS has been last generation for a year, and Pokemon games sell systems. This does not compute.
-
@Schwerer:

I did like the Elite 4, Gym leaders and final bosses though. They are probably my favorites out of all the gens(except for N…. he sucks compared to Blue/Green and Silver.. and gym leaders are sorta give and take compared to RBY). The story.... not so much.

While the games MIGHT sell the system, the 3DS is still overpriced, and a number of gamers aren't going to spend the money for a 3DS and these games just because it's Pokemon.
Also it'd be weird to suddenly change systems mid-generation. This could also effect the compatibility with Black and White.

The 3DS is priced exactly the same as the DSi XL.
Maybe it's subjectively overpriced to you, but it really isn't in reality.

You mean like how the Gold/Silver were GB games and Crystal was a GBC game?
-
My main upset is that after I got my 3ds repaired once, it lost the ability to play DS games online. And the only way to fix that is appearently to delete ALL my data. ANd my old ds lite no longer works
-
I know I'm late to the convo but… Finally, a electric dragon type. Suuuper stoked!

You mean besides Zekrom? And it could be ice electric instead
-
You mean besides Zekrom? And it could be ice electric instead
ah yes that's what I meant. It would be kind of lame of them to do another ele drag right after/with zekrom and all
-

Well, I guess overall it's not a fantastic story, but I thought for what it was worth as a pokemon plot it was pretty okay. And like you said the leaders were all the best.
Back on topic though, I'm always a sucker for these "ALTERNATE FORMES" so I'm excited.
-
I'm still confused on how these forms are going to work. When you look at it they are more of a fusion of Kyurem and Zekrom or Kyurem and Reshiram rather than a form.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
!
heres a good pic of the forms
-
I heard they were version exclusive formes of Kyurem, but, who knows. Makes most sense to me though.
-
You know those forms look more like forms of Zekrom and Reshiram than Kyurem
-
Looks incomplete, so I'm guessing the true form is a fusion of both.
But I don't understand how the typing would work if that were the case.

You just noticed that? My attention span is godly.
-

Yes I have eyesight. Would it truly matter either way since it's some sort of version exclusive fusion forme derpery? Kyurem formes or Reshiram/Zekrom mixed with Kyurem. Nothing about them has been confirmed yet, version exclusive Kyurem formes was just the first thing I heard put forth and it made sense to me.
Also I like Hiroy's idea that maybe it's some kind of incomplete megafusion. Make it happen, Masuda.
-
According to Matsuda (the creator), Black and white Kyurem are NEW POKEMON, and NOT ALTERNATE FORMS

What is this? I don't even-
shoots self
There goes Pokemon from my favorite list…

Yeah, I know. Let's all condemn a game we know next to nothing about because it isn't exactly what we expected
-
why is that a bad thing?
-
Two wasted slots on this?
-
Actually, he tweeted the thing in ENglish and its pretty unclear if they are new forms or new pokemon. He calls them new legendary pokemon, which sounds more like new pokemon, but could be something else as well. Also, no form in the name
-
I'll just stick by the notion that he's simply just saying stuff. Saying "new legendaries" are probally just a way to hype the game.
Because clearly…
These are not new.
-
So the formula has finally been broken, oh happy day. The date is awesome to, June is so close and we could get new info any minute.
New main characters? The return of n? Do they dare?
-
To everyone bitching about the new games NOT being for the 3DS… track record is entirely on the side of this happening, and in fact I can probably point to a similar identical post in the old thread a year ago if I felt like looking...
1. The DS has something like 150 million units out and about. The 3DS has 15 million. Far, far less, OBVIOUSLY the installed base is to the older system and it makes EVERY bit of sense to cater to that group instead.
2. Traditionally, though a system seller, new gen pokemon games aren't for a system at launch, but 3 or 4 years in, and actually about a year before the next system comes.
-Game Boy was 89, pokemon was 98.
-GBColor was 98 while Silver/Gold was 2000
-GBAdvance was 2001 and Ruby/Sapphire was 2003.
-DS was 2004, and Diamond/ Pearl was 2007.The craaaazy levels of success of the DS, and the fact that its been upgraded like 4 times to expand its lifespan is the entire reason this gen stayed on it in the first place.
3. New gens are typically 3 or 4 years apart (giving time for mid games, remakes, merchandising, and the anime to run their course.) Even in Japan its only been a year since B/W came out, not even that long stateside.
Expect the 6th gen, and first 3DS exclusive game to be in 2013 Japan or Spring 2014 Stateside. And expect the system that follows the 3DS to come out a year later. Pokemon isn't a system launch title, it never has been, its a system life span expander that comes out once the system is established and needs something to carry it another 3 or 4 years. If Black and White is actually going to be a trilogy of games, genuine sequels rather than the typical upgrades, this could be delayed by another year.
According to Matsuda (the creator), Black and white Kyurem are NEW POKEMON, and NOT ALTERNATE FORMS
brain explodesBe unprecedented if true. Deoxys, Shaymin and Rotom are about the only example of that, and those were only alternate forms. If they're actual different numbers, that might also mean OTHER new critters this gen. But hey, given that its a sequel and not just a midquel fusion like before… But probably just a bit of translation trouble. For the time being I'll assume that in-story its one way or the other, no transformation... but not actually new numbers.
On the other hand, this means Nintendo wasn't just being coy when they said "there will be no Pokemon grey!" if they were planning dual sequels (and even third parts?) all along.
-
Two wasted slots on this?
Didn't know this was the "insert capcom fighting game here" thread.
But anyway about time.
-
Just saw the news somewhere else and didn't believe a single word. Because, you know, that doesn't sound likely at all.
But … damn, it's actually true!I'm just stunned.
-
-
I really hope they are genuine sequels (As in how G/S/C were to R/B/Y) and not just split third versions.
-

Well the new movie featureing Kyurem and these new forms has a Pikachu short that features a new pokemon called Meloetta.
-
Meloetta isn't really new, it's just an event pokemon
-
Speaking of event pokes, what's the deal with Genasect?(or whatever)
He's one of the few legends I wanted to use.
-

She's not new, her graphic was in the previous game… she's just unreleased. Same for robo-bug.
