I've decided to chronicle my adventures (aka horrible failures) in ludicrous difficulty. I'm currently on chapter 2, so here are some thoughts on chapter 1: Fuck you rng. How many times in a row does the same enemy have to hit on multiple attempts when he only had a 53% hit chance in the first place. Honestly, my main problem with this mode right now is that not only are there many more enemies, but they're all incredibly strong for where you are now so that by chapter 1 Frederick is pretty much the only one who can stand more than a single hit, and even with chrom paired with my avatar on a fort against an inaccurate axe wielder, the odds were slightly in favor of them striking a hit, so you can rarely count on dodging. I'm sure it'll get a little better once I can grind risen on the map (although even that will require either a lot of time or a lot of gold to use on reeking boxes.

Henry and Libra are both the only good options for Tharja, imho. Not counting a male avatar marrying her perfect ass.
And Libra is a second choice backup at best. Henry and Tharja was just a hilariously perfect pairing to me, but Libra is also a really sensical choice because of their common ground and mutual appreciation for each other. I have only seen a few other supports with Tharja and other men and while amusing usually, nobody else seems to fit as well.
Anyways, I married Henry to my avatar (thus LibraxTharja) and life is great. Morgan is more interesting than I thought he'd be and I like how he looks exactly like a mini-Henry.
The kids in general are just being great characters as far as both stats and supports are concerned and I foresee me beating the game with nothing but a party of them as everyone else dings off.
-
I did sully/stahl on my first playthrough and liked it a lot as well. Also, not sure I see the point of doing a second playthrough on normal casual immediately after a first. I've completed two playthruoghs as well, but both were on hard classic, with my second being the one where I recruited all kids and let nobody die, whereas the first I had quite a few characters face permadeath
I wanted to unlock the support log so I can abuse the saves to get lots of S supports. So, there's one file with all the kids so I can see the ending with some of my favorite couples, one save just before the last chapter so I can skirmish grind all my supports and one empty file to get the s rank supports for the log. I just love the supports so I'm trying to get them all. And I do not want it to be too difficult, so that's why I stay on Normal/Casual…
-
I paired Tharja with Frederick because I like the dynamic of the dutiful, proper soldier falling for the sociopathic mage with a soft spot.

Have you met Henry yet tho
This is a vital, important question
Also if you like that, then Henry has a great similar dynamic with a lot of other girls
Everybody finds him both horrifying and fascinating so I feel like he's one of the more convincing pairs with anybody
CHERCHE is also, surprisingly, a good fit for anybody but fuck it she belons with Virion.
-
I paired Tharja with Gaius, since his attitude throughout their supports amused me. Noire with Lethality sounds appealing too. Hair color is gonna clash like hell, though.
I just forged a spare Leif's Blade I had, renamed it to Mo' Money, and gave it to Donnel. Now I'll never want for cash again.

Tharja and Freddie got hitched about two chapters before
GomezHenry graced me with his presence. Now I need to find him a bride so that everyone in my company is having a banging time in between Donnel slaughtering the enemy with a stick.
-
I'm definately shaking up my pairings on the second time 'round, maybe set Vaike up with Maribelle for the comedic value (because lord knows i'll never use Maribelle in a straight fight.)
-
Maribelle and Gaius was my pairing for her.
I felt like it really fitted Brady as a child (I only learned this after he popped up obviously) and they were an interestingly persuasive couple.
Crossword is right though jesus Gaius's hair clashes with everything

How does the support log work?
Avatar can marry everyone of opposite sex, thus it would seem to be that to unlock them all I would have to replay the game say 40 times to get everyone.
Or am I able to say save before I support to marriage, see the support marriage conversation, then afterwards reload and not be married to the person yet have the support log updated with that one I just saw?
Right now I'm not sure who I want to marry, but have a lot of A suports going. Didn't go to S yet cause annoys me when I see the support flashing like I have a new one, but its instead just me not clicking yet on a possible marriage support.

You must have finished the game at least one time to unlock it. Then, when you are ready for a S support, you save on another file before reading it then you save your game. Once you have read it, you just have to go back to the file you saved before the S support and repeat for any s support you want to get.
It might take some time, but I want to get every possible support for all the characters. Yes, I'll eventually have to make a male avatar for it to work, but I'll start by everything I can get from the female avatar game.
! I can't wait for the spotpass paralogue with recruitable Walhart to be released!
-
So yeah, I've given up on ludicrous difficulty. Now aiming for all supports
-
Chapter hasn't even started and I already know that Owain's getting a permanent spot in the company.

If you need some advice you can ask me, I'm currently chapter 16 on Lunatic and it gets more ridiculous. Most of my characters have reclassed twice and barely keep up with the enemy. (Level 50+). Currently your goal should be to chapter 5/10/16, 5 allows you to access DLC which is a lifesaver. Chapter 10 is when you can buy master seals, chapter 16 is when you can buy second seals. If you can afford it, buy all of it, one essentially throws 100k gold at you in one run, the other 3 DLC are great stepping tones towards training. If you can't abuse, the free DLC 1.
Lunatic+ believe it or not is actually the RNG abuser. (Even at the prologue classes have skills such as the one that allows them to strike first when at half hp), forgot the name. Then things like leathality are also in play. I don't think if I'm even going to attempt it, as of yet anyway.
Edit:
Whoops should have kept reading downwards xD -
An easy way to build up weak characters is doing the Marth DLC repeatedly (granted Marth, Ike, and Alm steal half the kills…)
-

4 units. Frederick towards the most bottom slot, have him kill the mage, pair up your avatar with the weak character, both at the very top. Move him to the glitter spot, stay there. Pegasus knight will attempt to attack frederick. It's about 50/50 whether the peg knight will attack over the ocean (where the allies can't hit it) or that they'll swarm it.
After about level 8 the AI will target the allies over you, use glass weapons, and try to build up the relationship between them and your avatar to get that boost. Until about level 12 they have to be scavengers. Also chrom is used to visit the village and take care of mages. Mages are by far the biggest threat, they do massive damage (save for peg knight)
-
I've been playing this game for a while and one question I need to ask is. Does the Ally AI get better or is it permantly stuck on "Komm Susser Todd" I mean I already had to put up with Anne's inability to target archers over brigands leading to her constant to her death. And now I watched three villagers get murdered moving into the attack range of enemy units for no reason. Some seriously stupid shit.
-

I think the reason that Anne attacks the brigands is because the brigands are heading to the village. If she attacked the archers the brigands would reach the village and destroy it.
The archers ignore the village and only concentrate on attacking her. Thus I would do the same thing if had control over her during the whole chapter.
-
The only annoying AI I've seen is those suicidal villagers in the second or third paralogue.

Not like Anna's death in the second paralogue means anything beyond it being harder to protect the village

I actually went with Ricken with Tharja as it A. doesn't mention the Avatar at all, and B. It seems like she actually likes him in her…unique way.
-

Yeah I had the benefit of finding that out after I had let the bandits reach the village anyway though not as annoyed as finding out Gaius can open locks without a lock pick.
-
Made my avatar a god;
Asura
GaleForce
Pavice/Veteran(Chapter/Training)
Sol
LifetakerI would have done vantage but with this she's rarely below half hp anyway lol
-
Henry is now spending the rest of his life with Olivia, Inigo will have the most utterly bizarre childhood.
-
I don't think Gaius could have seemed any less thrilled to attain S rank with Nowi. It was like on my first playthrough when Nah got Inigo to marry her by threatening to eat him.
Also, Henry gave me the funniest commentary I've seen in the game on a DLC map.
"Hey, want to go grave robbing with me?"
"Such things will only bring sadness."
"That's not true. Just look at how happy I am." -
I did Donnel and Nowi together because it seemed like the least creepy option, and if the conversations they have are actually kind of nice.
And I have to give Fire Emblem props for how they did DLC, because at least they're admitting what it is.
-
Henry and Olivia's A support is great because Olivia may have faked a heart attack just to get Henry to frown.
-
Man I love the Myrmidon/Swordmaster class line. With Donny as his father Owain is pretty much an unhittable force of ham. I think I'm finally going to take Frederick off of the bench now that the rest of my guys and the enemy units have caught up to him.
-
Frederick's started sucking in my game, pity too because his wife is an unstoppable force of god.
-
Frederick sucked until I just reclassed him back to Cavalier, then he caught up to everyone else pretty easily. He did give Gerome luna though, so that's nice.
-
@Cyan:

Frederick starts as an advanced class with the stat ratio of somebody starting at a level 1 class.
That's why he seems strong at first but is already the worst character by the time you promote people. Like Bobjr says, Second Seal him to a base class and upgrade onwards and he'll be similar to others in rating.

Filling the support log is more complicated than I though as there's so many possibilities… So far, I managed to S-Rank all the first generation guys with my avatar, so I still have to do it with the kids and with the unreleased spotpass characters
! Walhart and Priam
as well as most of the A-rank with the girls. I also got almost all the S-rank for Miriel, Panne, Nowi and Tharja. My main goal for now is to get all the possible supports for my female avatar, especially the S-rank with the kids… The others can wait...And by the way... in the ending...
! If you choose to let Chrom give the final hit to Grima, There's will be a small special dialogue where your husband/wife tell you that they are happy that you didn't sacrifice yourself (in their own way) and then Chrom say that you belong with them. I've seen it with two different guys so far and what they say are almost completely different. For exemple
! I don't remember much but I think Gregor say something about not wanting to loose you and that he love you. Gangrel wonder in what kind of fairy tales you got the idea of wanting to sacrifice yourself and then he say that you're his and that he'll slaughter anyone who try to take you away from him… -
Gave my avatar high skill and married her off to Chrom. Holy god am I satisfied by the result, I put them together and any enemy that gets close gets massacred. It's at the point where I'm getting critical hits nearly every two turns.
And I am shocked by how quickly people go through this game … still barely in chapter 8 or 9(whichever is after the grimleal chapter) and that's with me spending a couple of hours last night on it.
-
With the addition of Noire, basically no one in my company is normal by this point.
Also I may have gotten Owain and Luciana to marry. Oops.
-
At least they're royalty. Otherwise cousins marrying each other might actually be frowned upon.
…Does that even come up between them?
I'm having an awful RNG day. I died to the last two mobs on a less than 5% chance to crit on two different maps, and at the end of another map Olivia leveled and got ZERO stat points (which I didn't even realize was possible). And no, she's nowhere close to capped in any of her stats. Thank god that she can just keep leveling and it doesn't really matter in the end.
-
Marth-descended rule of Ylisse was ended after the reign of Exalt Charles II, who had a genetic history of first cousin with first cousin, niece with uncle, and time traveling child with uncle marriages.
-
Huh, so if you support your Avatar with Tiki she kind of states that Marth is decended from Seliph and Sigurd from Fire Emblem 4. That's kind of neat.

This game more or less implies that every Fire Emblem game took place in the same world, it seems.

Panne essentially says that Taguel and Manaketes are subspecies of Laguz, incidentally.

All except 6-10, but they give hints for 9 and 10, like the Taguel race being hinted at being related to Laguz.

The Tellius games could conceivably be the first games chronologically, assuming that Lehran and Ashenura could raise the sunken continents.
Plus Priam indicates that Ike is fairly well-known across the land.
-
Eventually they're going to say that 6 and 7 take place in a far away continent and leave 8 as the bastard child game.

"Tiki, do you know any more of Hero-King Marth's ancestors?"
"Well there was that blue haired fellow with the big sword who killed a goddess…oh and a pair of incestuous twins. Marth...didn't like talking about them, something about them being 'to easy to level grind.'"
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I just read that Donnel and Olivia's supports basically say that the story of Leanne and Naesala has become a folk song lol.
-
It doesn't have to mean all games are in the same world once you consider the outrealm gate. For instance, I'm pretty sure priam says he's descended from a hero from another world (who is Ike) based on what I read
-
The only annoying AI I've seen is those suicidal villagers in the second or third paralogue.
I know like what the hell was wrong with those people??? "I could move anywhere on the map and survive except for one that would put me in the enemies range….IMA GO TO THAT SPOT" - all the villagers. I don remember them being that being that suicidal in the other games...

Wow, they really outdid themselves with that folklore being put in the support conversations. Unfortunately I've only played the USA released games so most of it is a blur to me. But I really enjoy the thought they put into this game, they completely obliterated my expectations.
Can't wait for the DLC tomorrow to make training 100x easier xD. I did manage to get about 6 characters to max stats for the time being though :(
-
Time for the final chapter.
I wish I married Chrom because it feels like the past few chapters would've made a lot more sense and felt much more natural if we were married, especially story-wise.
SHE AND I ARE BOUND BY FATE AND INSEPARABLE AND TOGETHER FOREVER AS v e r y g o o d f r i e n d s
edit: I beat the game. I can't believe it, 35 hours, almost three weeks after it came out, I've beaten it. I can't remember the last time I ever did this with an RPG. It feels great and that ending was satisfying enough for something whose plot was pretty simple (the charming ass characters made it of course).
! Obviously I had my unit destroy the dragon herself, since it was the best for everyone.
-
I've spent the past two days trying to pop out all the kids I can.
Hitch list:
Chrom/Sumia
Lon'qu/Avatar
Edgeworth/Sully (which makes Kjelle look like Rei Ayanami incidentally)
Donnel/Lissa
Frederick/Tharja
GregorHEAVY WEAPONS GUY/Panne
Henry/Olivia
Ricken/Nowi (because literally every other choice is horrendously creepy)
Vaike/Miriel
Gaius/Maribelle
Kallum/Cordelia
Owain von Habsburg/Luciana von Habsburg (WHOOPS) -
My pairings so far are:
Chrom x Sumia (as compelled by the
gamepies)
Frederick x Panne (figured 'why the hell not' and went for it)
Kellam x Olivia (self-conscious girl with the guy no one notices, match made in heaven)
Lon'qu x Sully (another 'why not' pairing, bonus points for getting Kjelle to look like her official artwork)
Gaius x Tharja (yet another 'why not' pairing)
Donnel x Lissa (Owain is a monster)
Virion x Cherche (I liked their dynamic)My Avatar hasn't married anyone yet, though the remaining first generation (since pairing him with any of the second generation feels awkward) bachelorettes with the fhighest support ranking with him appear to be Cordelia since I often used her as a jetpack during the latter chunk of the game's first half, and Miriel for some reason.
-
I got Cherche killed during Kjelle's chapter, so no Jerome for me.
-
since pairing him with any of the second generation feels awkward
It's fair game though
Luciana and Male MU sound like the closest kind of "feels canon" equivalent that Chrom x Fem MU has. I'm sure it's a pretty okay pairing.
