Like seriously, what were the authors thinking?!
What the fandom's been thinking since Azami showed up.

Wasn't Soma supossed to learn cooking techniques from the upperclassmen he defeated? Whatever happened to that?
It's sad because the previous chapter felt like a real look into the earlier days of this manga.
This latest chapter….Uhh. okay.
This is barely readable at this point.
What an amateur mistake, terrible writing.
Totally should have gone with fried chicken for escanor clone.
Unbelievable.

I'm still enjoying it
Remember the days when we thought it couldn't get any worse than the complete and utter garbage that was the Azami arc?
Those were the days
So I read a lot about this being terrible now. Are we reaching bleach and fairy tail levels?
Bleach level is fairly accurate.
Edgey villains, bs powers and we're almost missing keikaku dori
The main villain basically stole Mimisaka's gimmick but does the keikaku thing and is less entertaining
! There are bubbles, there are muscular enemies that do extreme poses, there is a double team, there is an italian and a protagonist heir of a legacy.
! Is this a jojo reference?
That was a better chapter than we've had in a while. I buy their chemistry and like the flashback story. The dish was pretty cool as well. An enjoyable read.
Not bad. Starting to feel more on track since Aldini's match started.
Side note. I really like the way that lady judge is designed.
Gourmet Superpower no. 4: Double Spinning Edge!
Got to gather superpowers like there dragon balls or devil fruits.
Also at this point I'm expecting Soma mom to have been a rival for Erina mom or something.
! Erina's parents are so annoying. We've already got Soma dealing with his stupid "family" stuff now this? Wouldn't the Azami reception tell the author this sucks the fun out of the series?
! Well I was right about the bookmaster being a woman and a characters mother, just wrong on which characters mother she was. Agree with Cyclone, we don't need more of this family drama stuff.
! I really like the design of Erina’s Mum, she reminds me of Baiken from Guilty Gear.
! This series is slowly but surely taking the lead in the "bad parents doing bad parenting" category. Loving the design of Mama Nakiri though. I wonder how she got to be the bookmaster of the Blue tournament, besides being a natural born gourmet and so on of course.
I'm convinced now Erina will ditch the name of the Nakiri clan and replace it with Yukihira by the end.
! Because you cannot have a worse biological family, really.
Who said the Elite Ten went from 1 to 10?
Any chance that was an homage to Bleach, or is that a common thing in Japan?
I’m not 1-10, I’m 0th?
Well she was originally the tenth seat, and now she is considered the 0th seat, so math checks out. As for the actual chapter.
! Erina's mother fainting made her instantly more endearing than anything Azami ever did. I'm not invested in this storyline, but I can't hate her after an introduction to the rest of the cast like that. As for Erina suddenly going complete cold hearted and joyless, its such a sudden shift I almost snapped my neck. I am so looking forward to Megumi being next on the chopping block and never having an legitimate hard earned victory in this series (no the one against the Noir does not count since he amounted to fodder). They seriously need to stop putting Alice in randomly, not because I hate her, but because any moment she is included it shows how much potential this series lost and she only serves as a reminder to that. Actually, if Alice was part of this arc and the setup was done much better, this would've been a great way to have Alice go against Erina and win. Alas, we are not meant to have that.
no the one against the Noir does not count since he amounted to fodder
Cherrypicking always nullifies any argument you're trying to make.

Not sure if my post can be considered cherry picking when that was the only major victory she had. I suppose you can consider her one other victory being in the top three in the Autumn election, but it felt like everything before and that arc was build up for her eventual one on one victory. Then, instead of winning against one of the Elite 10, we get a random person with no build up who is taken out within a chapter or two and that is her first and only victory at this time. So unless you want to argue that somehow that battle was worthy of all this build up to a character who's been around since close to the start of the series, there's no changing my mind on that noir being fodder and I won't consider it a hard earned victory.
Anyone have an estimate how many chapters we have before the axe?
Or is jump being graceful because of good early volume sales giving some kind of leeway like they did for Bleach?
By the way, SnS really shows how shit the weekly magazine culture is.
Well we still need a bare minimum number of conflicts like
Erina vs Asahi with Asahi coming out on top
then Soma vs Asahi with Soma coming out on top
(and optionally Soma vs Megumi)
And of course an ending chapter, some more personal stuff with Erina's mother, a follow up chapter showing where everyone's gone, and then the manga gets finally taken out back behind the shed. So it could be any variable amount of chapters so long as it rounds out a few more volumes.
I want Erina vs Asahi (with Erina's crushing victory)
and Soma vs Mana (with a soma's flavored victory)
And a final battle of Erina vs Soma, once they air their bullshit.
Nah screw all the fights.
Personally I just want my Alice slice of life spinoff

Megumi does nothing though.
Hard to get excited when we hardly see any of the match and are not at all invested in these Noir losers, then followed up by her obviously preparing to lose to the main antagonist.
But ignoring all that, Megumi had some stellar moments this chapter.
Asahi is such a boring character and his gimmick is garbage. It makes me miss Azami skiing down mountains
Remember when this was a cooking manga?
! This equipping skills thing is stupid. And of course her actual cooking gets skipped over. Points for standing up for Erina.
! Honestly I just want someone to call the cops on him. He lied about his credentials, is trying to date a high schooler, kidnapped her and well is basically scum. I don't know why anyone is agreeing to anything he says or does. It's so annoying.
That would be a nice conclusion, just before the final shokugeki, the cops come and he gets taken away for his actual crimes.
Isn't this entire tournament festering with criminals? I'd imagine Asahi is relatively low on the totem pole all things considered even if he's just a big dick
Anyway great chapter. I don't even remember David Rice's super skill other than being American. And Megumi is going to get eliminated without an actual seen victory in an actual seen battle to anyone that actually mattered. Like Christ, the closest thing you could say was a victory was the David Rice doppelganger, and even that one wasn't a direct head to head comparison of dishes?
Well supposedly they aren't criminals. They just happen to cook for people who are.
Not much better but eh.
They could get him for something random. Like cross contamination, or tax evasion.
He did fake his identity to get to the school bust him on that.
Mr Asahi, by charge of lusting after a 16y/o with the body of a 22y/o super model and the mind of a socially akward 27y/o you are under arrest.
Well supposedly they aren't criminals. They just happen to cook for people who are.
Not much better but eh.
Nah I think during Aldini's fight, there were actual Yakuza or something there. Or maybe I'm forgetting because everything's blurring together.
No, wait, it might've been the Tsukasa v Asahi fight
Skipping any bit of her cooking feels more criminal than any of these stupid chefs, including Asahi.
Was hoping this chapter would alleviate any negatives I had, but it went about how I expected.
! Megumi was done dirty. Heck, the match against claw guy made the match against the other person look great by comparison. At least in that match there was some sort of build up and relevance to her background, as little as there was. Here, she takes out a minion introduced in the same chapter, then next chapter gets taken out like a chump. I could've given some respect of she was shown to give some competition, make the judges think a little before giving Asahi the victory. Nope, sorry Megumi it was good but you're nothing compared to this guy and your story arc is completely irrelevant and never got proper closure. Christ I thought the Azami stuff was the worst part but this is really pissing me off with how Megumi's character ended up, and practically all other characters not Soma, irrelevant and never given proper closure to their arcs.
! I want to give the positive part of Megumi getting angry, but no, what happens after that just makes her showing resolve all the more infuriating. She was obviously never going to win against the antagonist but at least have the decency of having her put up a fight, not this.
This series is trash now
We're really going to disrespect Megumi that badly?
We're approaching Glossy Black levels if not at least The Heart levels of bad now if we're not already there.
Hahaha what the actual
Absolute trash. What a waste.
I don't get it. Half the people that come into this thread, are only here to shit on the manga. Yet you're still reading it. Chill the fuck out, we're gonna find out that there's some vague connection between Soma and Erina's mum and that this was the destiny the author hinted towards at the very beginning of the manga anyway. There's yet to be a manga in WSJ that I've not seen people complain about. Given that the magazine is aimed at 10 year olds, perhaps the problem isn't the material, but rather you. Move on, it's time for you to start reading more mature stuff, perhaps it's time for to switch to light novels. [emoji2982]
This manga has a very last arc feel with how much stuff has been skipped over. It's disappointing like Naruto and Bleach. Started off strong and started to crumble. Naruto not fully a disaster. But it definitely feels like Bleach's last arc. It's not new for people to stick with a series to see how it'll end after reading it for years.
Skipping actual cooking over random powerups when the series was largely based on cooking people could actually do with high difficulty. These gimmicky utensil stealing powers don't make any sense. It's not like Subasa who was gifted and a stalker. This takes it into a realm that suspension of disbelief doesn't work.
Occassionally in this arc something promising happens then it's speed through. What's good to say about it at this point? The magazine is aimed at 10 year olds but this wasn't a series that felt that way. High end gourmet cooking plus foodgasms? This leans older.
