Movie was too awesome for my nerves, way better than all other One Piece movies. Guess I'm just a sucker for this decrepit old guy character/King Kong thingy, Whitebeard and Z are definitely two of my 10 favorite One Piece characters.
! I liked the movie and I think it's the only movie that I would like to see agian. It wasn't the best, the 4th & 6th are better in my opinion. Zoro & Sanji's fights were too fast that I didn't like the way they ended, and I hated the last fight between Luffy & Z, Luffy should've used his fruit to punch him with long range attacks instead of just standing right in front of him and keep taking punches in his face.

What is it with people being unable to appreciate the heartfelt scene of two men engaged in a bout of good ol' fashioned fisticuffs, putting their entire conviction and heart behind their blows, pummeling each other at the limits of their endurance?
How would long ranged attacks and fancy supermoves carry the same emotional impact as that final mano a mano? They wouldn't.
I find it bewildering that some people wonder why Ain didn't make Z younger when there are lots of hint in the movie that'll make you understand… Hell, Z being an old man himself at the beginning of the movie already is a freakin' dead giveaway.
One of my favorite parts was the crewmembers getting their ages back. As well as Luffy actually winning.

This. The fact that it doesn't happen often in One piece makes it really exciting when it does. Seeing two evenly matched opponents go blow for blow and just pressing on through the pain with pure adrenaline and will is one of the manliest things ever. That's why Luffy vs. lucci and Zoro vs. Mr.1 Are two of my favorite fights.
Oh and to the person who asked, the reason Luffy didn't keep away and use long ranger attacks is because be isn't a little pussy. He knows when it's time to be fancy and when it's time to show how much balls he's got.
Fighting Scenes is just too good.. I re-watched it over and over and over again so many times.. and now I still do it.

Nami and Robin voices… are priceless..
! I thought Z had his arm cut off. Did it grow back or something?

That was clearly another prosthetic. It even makes mechanical sounds a couple of times.

So he used haki on the new arm? Oh. Couldnt tell because video started lagging

That's my guess.

You are so right, both these things are boner-inducing. Luffy vs Z rounds 2 and 3 are especially awesome, especially round 3. The fact that it ends in a slugfest makes it much more enjoyable, and I can feel how much each punch hurts. As for Nami and Robin, they sound so sexy when they change back, I can't help replaying this part along with the fights. I usually don't care about fanservic, but that was very well done here IMO.
! Kid chopper was so adorable. I was fangirling over brook in the credits. Why didnt it show killer?

This movie should've been a tv special not a movie. It's been awhile since I've seen it but one thing that bothered me, iirc ,was that Z was known for his black fists or something. And yet the last fight we see Luffy imitating him with the black fists. That was a 'wtf' moment for me.

It's just Busoshoku haki Enhancement, it isn't like Zephyr is the only one who can do that man ._.

I take it you don't keep up-to-date much with the manga or anime anymore.

What comes in the second disk?

Well, if you have a drive that can rip BR then you can rip the video from the disk, and then you could add subtitles, but then you would need to burn the whole thing to another bR disc, unless you wanted to overwrite the legit one, which I would not recommend doing in case somorething goes wrong.
Based on this movie, do we assume Luffy is barely admiral level?

! Because Killer's sabo XD
Is the movie canon? Like the things Kizaru did in the Movie can he do it the Manga now? Because if he can than damn that's hack.
Movie is not canon.
The events of the movie aren't canon. Any character who hasn't appeared or had their name mentioned in the manga prior to this movie also aren't canon.
And Kizaru was already able to do these things before.
I really enjoyed the slug fest at the end. Z went out in great style and loved his story. At first I thought he was really a bad dude but I think in the end he was just an old dog that wanted a good fight before he laid his bones to rest. And I felt for him a bit it's true that it's really messed up that the Navy hires Warlords that have killed so many Marines and been natural enemies all along. I mean what the fuck are they thinking?! Look at the track record, surely they've realized by now the Warlords are no more trustworthy or useful than pirates. In fact they're basically pirates hiding in plain sight. Of course on the other hand the Navy and World Government are in their own way a bunch of thugs themselves and pull all sorts of shady and evil shit… All I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if Akainu ended up killing most of them and stopping these foolish shinanagens.
Anywho, I feel like Film Z is a great addition to the canon, gives a tad more to the back story for the navy and explained well how he was very much looked up to and respected and trained a lot of the most powerful dudes. Also I think it's kind of a nice little Straw Hat introduction to the New World as well. It was just nice to see some nice fast paced One Piece action.
Especially liked seeing Akainu as the boss hog, Kizaru getting in some good licks as usual (love that guy he's the real deal) and of course theirs Aokiji post-fight wounds and post-navy admiral and all that good stuff. I've always thought he would make a good SH ally or maybe even join the crew (at least one of the two spots needs to go to a fishman or mermen though IMO) he does fit in well enough. Though then again he's also a decent fit for loner or ronin type character kind of like Hawk-Eye. Can't imagine him being the chief admiral or the navy haha, he's way too laid back and just doesn't seem all that ambitious. Maybe he just wanted to fight Akainu??
Perhaps I'm talking too much about One Piece when I start going in to theoreticals heh.
PS - this doesn't have much to do with Film Z though I had a thought about Shanks when Luffy started talking about his hat. I just wanted to call it right here and now - Shanks is gonna get killed by Blackbeard. I say this because both characters have a history of fighting, and it's looking like Blackbeard is gonna become the main villain (along with Akainu) and this sets things up perfectly. Blackbeard becomes an Emperor and contender for the throne, as well as sets himself up to become the character that Luffy hates the most considering he had a hand in Ace's death as well.
Of course I think that will happen after Luffy and Shanks have a great heart-warming sort of reunion and perhaps an adventure together. They can introduce their crews and all that good stuff too. I really really want that to happen at least.

So the only film that is still canon is strog world right? Shame; these films really do expand the One piece world. I hope the next one is canon.

Strong World isn't canon either.
Strong World isn't canon either.
Is only Shiki canon? I'm a bit confused on how that works.

I don't recall Oda saying it was not canon. He released chapter 0 after all, and acknowledged shiki's existence in the main manga.

Shiki is the only canon character since Sengoku mentioned his name in the manga.

Almost everything in Chapter 0 is pretty much canon. Except for Shiki's plan at the end, which was mainly just to tie in the chapter to Strong World. None of the events of Strong World were referenced by Sengoku, Garp, etc.
Shiki is canon. Whether or not, he'll make an appearance at a later date in the manga is up to Oda.

But where is the confirmation? I mean for film z Oda confirmed it outright, but what have we to go on that says strong world isn't canon?
I think he said something around the lines of "the film won't contradict the anime and manga" or something of that nature.
I don't have the exact link on me at the moment.
Ya know maybe it's not official canon but that really shouldn't hinder you from considering it an official part of the One Piece story if that's what ya wanna do. I consider both Strong World and Film Z to all be part of the adventure.

Thanks!
It's a bit weird. I kinda want to consider the movies canon, but chronologically they can't fit in the normal timeline. Especially since characters never bring up those events in the series lol.

Well that's true but if you rework an episode/chapter or two in your head then it's still pretty easy to do so. No big deal really. And besides, when is the last time the crew actually referenced their past adventures in Skypeia or Alabasta I mean they barely bring up any events aside from Arlong during Fishman Island and of course Marineford events. Seems like One Piece is always about what's ahead and not what's behind.
One Piece Film Z will be shown at this years Annecy Animation Festival in France. Not sure on the exact date yet, but they'll probably announce it around the middle of May.

And the insane looking After School Midnighters will be there too!
watched the movie a few days ago. man I loved the fights between Z and Luffy especially the last one.
but as every anime movie it was rather short…

Even though you don't have the exact link at the moment, that wording doesn't seem to deny the film's canonicity; only that it doesn't contradict the manga. That's why it was placed during the events before Sabaody, right? Ah well, you can fit all of the films (except for Z) easily into the canon, since they are mostly set before each arc.
Why is Strong World being canon even a debate at this point? The Chapter 0 which Oda himself wrote leads into the movie, and the manga itself had a one week gap in between Thriller Bark and Saobody Archipelago, which is more than enough time for the movie to take place. That and Oda wrote the movie. I think it's safe to say it's canon.

It's not cannon because Brook says that the fight with the flying fish riders is his first with the Straw Hats.
Also, because Luffy's defeat of Shiki was never addressed in the manga.
