Wow big bump.
Anyway, this is something I've posted in BodyBuilding Forums that hasn't gotten an answer yet, so don't think I'm copying someone:
So I 'm 15 (turning 16 in a few weeks). I've been lifting since I was 14, but tried to keep an actual "regime" since October of 2014.
When starting off, I didn't really do a proper 3 or 5 day split, nor did I actually look up anything like "bodybuilding for beginners/teens" and stuff like that.
I just randomly worked out arms one day, legs the next day, and abs after. Then I kind of dropped abs for a bit (I figured doing excessive ab exercises would be futile since I have belly fat).
So as a result, I kept to arms, and legs. There where a lot times where I worked arms and didn't do much else for awhile (I'm not sure while). As a result, the small progress I had stalled, since, I don't think you can really get gains on one area if you never workout the other parts of your body. This was around December through April.
And for May and June, I've been doing back, arms, and legs, with some days including triceps.
The last 2 weeks, I've been trying to do a split of chest & triceps, back & biceps, and legs & abs/shoulders. I did that 3 days straight instead of every other day like a proper 3 day split because I feel as if I might have not have done a "good workout", so I would do them in secession. (For what it's worth, I would only feel sore in certain places. Like for instance, I did back and biceps yesterday, but only feel some light soreness in just my upper back. Meanwhile last week, I did legs, and only felt some soreness in just my hamstrings.)
Usually, on days where I didn't lift, I'd play some Basketball with friends sometimes.
As a side note, I have rounded shoulders, which makes it hard for me to do certain back or chest exercises, but I am working on them by doing certain stretches and the like.
SO MY POINT IS…
How should I lift? I'm not really beginner anymore, so what split do I use?
Should I opt for a full body workout (made up of squats, deadlifts, chest presses, bent rows, etc.), or is that late? And does using heavy weight at this age stunt my height growth, even if I do use proper form?
And lastly, this may be better suited as a question in a different thread, but I should I go about diet changes? Calorie counting/deficit is what I want to do, but it's hard when I have parents that are on the stubborn side of things. Should I take into account stuff like sodium intake, or just focus on Calories and macros? And, how do I account for oils and sauces/stews?
Sorry if this thread was unnecessary; I just felt like it was worth it since I didn't really start out the whole process in the best way.
