Screw Solid Snake, we need Big Boss.
I agree, but i hope they end up bringing in big boss for the next smash bros game instead of this game.

It'd be hilarious if Snake was in this after being in Super Smash Bros. All they'd need after that is Raiden being in a new Xbox All-stars game after that.
If they're already copying Nintendo,
Might as well be able to throw Ape Escape monkeys for various effect.

As funny as this is….imagine a Microsoft one....
Can't think about any other than Masterchief and a viva Pinata. To be fair, both Sony and MS arent making games as long as Nintendo is.
viva pinata was also on DS so i don't think it would count. Gears of war and fable are the only two i can think of (PC is microsoft so fable counts)
Microsoft would have all of the Rare characters, which is already more interesting than all of Sony's to me.
From the top of my head I can say they'd in addition to the Rare characters have Gears of War, Fable, Halo, Blue Dragon, Blinx, Comic Jumper, 'Splosion Man and Voodo Vince.
I like the shift the topic has gone through

I dunno, I assumed it was like with Viva Pinata, where they were allowed to use the series because it's the DS.
Sony All Star Battle Royal may possibly be on the Vita also. Not surprising.
Microsoft would have all of the Rare characters,
All the ones including the ones they have yet to use or use again like the Joanna Dark,Banjo-Kazooie, the Killer Instinct cast or the main character from "Grabbed By The Ghoulies"?

Pretty much sums up Microsoft's problem with their first party lineup.
I'd love it if they'd include someone from Sudeki, but hardly anyone knows that game. Either way, I'm totally for a playable Horstacio and Professor Pester from Viva Pinata.

Yes.

I think they have some good characters, but there are more than the ones I mentioned.
Also, I just remembered the ilomilos could be in like the Ice Climbers.

conker,nuff said.
i would use him all day erry day.
Yes.
That was actually a rhetorical question since I halfway don't expect Microsoft to use any of those characters (if they decided to ride the bandwagon) seeing as how they or Rare or both of them seem to forget they have access to those characters.

I know it was. But it's wrong. Nintendo hadn't looked at characters like Ice Climbers or Pit in years either and they're in. PSA has Parappa and possibly the girl from Ico. SEGA All-Stars Racing had characters like Opa-Opa and the Bonanza Bros. "Obscure" characters are normal in these types of games. Microsoft would need them more probably.
Banjo/Kazooie was pratically made for one of these games. I'm honestly sad that they didn't make it in the first Smash Bros.
I really hope this does well. Might be inspiration to reboot some older PS series that haven't gotten love lately or, at best, inspire them to make more interesting games with good flagship characters.
I hope they have the wind from Flower.
That would be awesome.
But seriously, i could see a flower level with some wind based events in it.
And Cole seems almost confirmed.
Not surprisingly.
So, think Capcom will give Sony permission to use Dante?
That would be awesome.

Not unless someone from Sony calls in a favor for Cole being used in SFXT.

Crash Bandicoot.
I wish I knew you better outside CTR.

Maybe, from interview: [http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale-director-talks-roster-selection-and-more-in-this-interview/
"**What was the process for selecting the characters you picked?
"It was sort of a combination of a lot of different systems. First and foremost we listened to the fans. The idea for this game has existed long before Sony Santa Monica and Superbot got around to making it. There's a wealth of information out there regarding what fans want to see and what characters they want to see-and what matchups they'd like to see. So we made sure to try and get as many of those as possible, but also, at the same time we're Sony fans. We're fighting game fans. There's definitely characters that we wanted to see that we made sure were included, perhaps some lesser known characters that haven't been around for a while. It runs the gamut."
"**Were there any characters that you really wanted to get but for whatever reason-licensing maybe-you couldn't get?
"So far so good. I think everyone understands just how important this is to the fans, and everyone wants to meet their expectations. These IP holders-we worked very, very closely with all of these guys, and they are all involved in the selection process…We're trying our hardest!! The developers get it, and hopefully the fans appreciate it."****](http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale-director-talks-roster-selection-and-more-in-this-interview/)
So…Crash bandicoot and Spyro also? Aren't they technically 3rd party now?
^ They are third party I actually believe that the rights to Spyro & Crash fall under Universal though both are currently licensed to Activison.
So…Crash bandicoot and Spyro also? Aren't they technically 3rd party now?
They already confirmed the game WILL have 3d party characters.
I don't really see this as a prioject that should heavilly include first parties. It's like… characters that has made a name for itself on Sony's platform. So I don't understand the skeptism beind the possibilty of certian characters.
Drake and Cole wouldn't be surprising. Snake would be a little bit surprising.
I thoght only Sony exclusive characters were in. Snake has apeared in 2 Nintendo games.
Snake would not be surprising at all. He's third party.
Snake makes more sense here than he does in Smash Bros.
I know those are all big sony names, but I really hope we'll get more than Parappa, Sly, Jak and Ratchet as far as colorful characters go. With a smash-bros game like this, neon-colored instantly recognizable designs just fit in easier than these new hyper-realistic, well, normal humans. It's propably years of SSB indoctrination thats talking, but for this game, I'd pick Rayman or Crash over Drake any day.
Me to actually.
Would also love to see some more characters that aren't that well know.
Like a Suikoden character, because that has been mainly on PS consoles. Luka Blight or Riou would be so awesome.
Or a Persona/Star Ocean/Shadow Hearts character.
To bad it's probably never going to happen..
still waiting for Kingdom hearts to be put in this
Well, isn't that something?
Can see Cole, Drake, and Snake in the character select, which is…kind of small.
So full roster (if there are, in fact, only twelve):
Cole
Drake
Snake
Sackboy
Sly
Cloud
Crash
Fat Princess
Kratos
Parappa
Sweet Tooth
Radec
Considering that Crash and Sly look pretty much 100% copy pasted from images from their prior games, and Cloud is in his KH2 outfit…I'm going to say very, very fake. At the very least I'm dead certain I've seen the exact Sly drawing in Sly 2 or 3 pre-missions.

Good point. Those Cole and Drake portraits are pretty much the first ones that come up in a Google Image Search, too.
Yeah fake (at least I think so) plus that selection screen looks awfully generic.
http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-all-stars-battle-royale/Unconfirmed_Characters
Here's a list of unconfirmed characters (some were known already)
Cole - Infamous
Jak and Daxter - Jak and Daxter
James Bond - 007
Kevin Butler - Long Live Play commercial character.
Nariko - Heavenly sword
Nathan Drake - Uncharted
Ratchet - Ratchet and Clank
Sackboy - LittleBigPlanet
Snake - Metal Gear Solid
Yorda - ICO
What's the point of posting an unconfirmed character list…? I love how it uses IMDB as a source.
i would so play as kevin butler
James Bond?
Adding movie characters could be interesting
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/03/e3-2012-big-daddy-and-drake-in-playstation-all-stars
In a couple of accidental posts on Playstation's Facebook, it was all but confirmed that Big Daddy from Bioshock and Nathan Drake are in the game.
I saw some of the footage from E3 and I really think Sony have made a mistake with the battle/health system.
Sony Smash Brothers seems to be too predominantly focused on flashy super moves to the extent that normal attacks do no damage and the only way to defeat players is to utilise these built-up game changing moves. This means that there's really no need to focus on level 1 or 2 super moves since building to level 3 seems to be insta-kill.
I was always one of those Smash players who didn't like using the Smash Balls and instead liked learning the individual fighting sets for each character.
Sony have a good game going for them with already some big name third party support. Unfortunately they may have dropped the ball on this decision and created themselves a lot of balance issues.
Agreed. It's as if Sony said, "We'll copy Smash Brothers to this line, but no further." I knew what to watch for in the demo and still had trouble seeing when players were getting defeated.
One of the things that made Smash Bros. work so well was the insanity of the impacts. Nothing like smashing three players across the screen at once with one well-timed Falcon Punch or Bob-Omb.
Supposedly PABR has more game modes. Hopefully one of them has more impact to it.
