Honestly, if Geno is in Sm4sh, that would be the biggest and most pleasant surprise. He alone would make up for a rather predictable roster. (assuming it ends up exactly like mine, lol)

I'd probably cut Falco before Wolf. :V Wolf is atleast unique. He also acts as a villain for the franchise I suppose. Sure, Falco is kind of cool, but he's still mostly just a clone of Fox. Although, I hope he stays since then we'll just be left with a Fox and a pretty much a grey Fox. How boring. If they replaced Falco with Krystal that'd be even worse, lol.

Actually, I booted Ness because of that soldier guy. He's the Masked Man - the final boss of Mother 3. To have both Ness and Lucas is boring, and you can't have the Masked Man without Lucas, because…

Probably. Same thing with Saki. His son Isa would probably be used instead. It was just easier to get pictures of Isaac and Saki. :V

Something I've been thinking about though, considering the size of the 3DS screen, would four-player matches be all that viable? Could you keep up with the match when all the characters are so tiny on the screen…? Perhaps we would see 1v1 matches on the 3DS instead? This mysterious "personal/individual experience" is going to be the main draw, so it's hard to make predictions until we know more on that.

AND FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, I made a RATHER CONSERVATIVE roster with minimal amounts of bias. (Eat shit, Ness.):

If anything, you should be impressed with how well I made the character placement work. Anyway, that's 44 slots, 48 total playable characters, with 12 newcomers.

Oh, I haven't beaten Mother 3 yet, I got to the part where you got Kumatora and took a break. While Mother 2 had me way more involved, Mother 3's story and writing beats the dog tar out of it. I've never had a 2D game make me get teary eyed before.

But still… Ness is pretty different than Lucas in a lot of ways., and I don't just mean cosmetic. Also, Ness is one of the originals, he's not going anywhere. Ness's Yo-yo smashes are really great, and I wouldn't trade those for Lucas's style ever.

If they put Megaman and little Mac in, I'll cum buckets. This game would give me the biggest list of characters to main:
(Mario, Kirby, Olimar, Captain Falcon, Ness, Megaman, Lil' Mac)

I think tom nook should be in it. If your gonna have an animal crossing character he's the best choice and his moveset would be different.

I wonder what the chances are of an original playable character to appear. Not like Tabuu who's only a boss but someone the story can be about who is useable in other modes

I dunno about this idea, it depends on how Skyward Sword turns out.

New antagonist for the Zelda franchise, he's got a lot of personality and some interesting moves.
Now, whether or not he gets in depends on his billing in the game, if he's Skyward Sword's MAIN protagonist and if the game does WELL, …. well I consider him very likely.
.... However, if he's another antagonist upstaged by Ganondorf yet again, his chances are pretty damn slim.

Yeah, Ghirahim may be important but
a) I doubt he's the final boss. It's very rare that you battle the final boss that early in a game. (The real FB doesn't have to be Ganondorf though)
b) Ganondorf is still more important overall. It'd be lame to kick out the most iconic villain in Zelda in favor of some completely new guy. Sheik will be out before he is.

He has reoccurring rival-ish-villain written all over him. Which is kinda new for a Zelda game. It could be good, or it could be bland if they try too hard with the archetype. He could be a decent contender if his has a good influence overall in the game.

Yeah, see to me he's kind of like a parody of androgynous JRPG characters/rival characters akin to things you'd see in Final Fantasy; only mixed with an elf and made REALLY MORE CAMPY.
He has a decent shot if he's actually really relevant in his game; and if it does well, he's got a lot of good charisma and fun character, and character is always welcome to a wacky roster, at least I believe so.

I think the closest rep we'll get from zelda series is toon zelda + tetra. Even if the toon zelda is a clone of regular zelda they were considered for brawl. I wouldn't mind them and i also wouldn't mind masked link (young, deku, goron, zora and deity as one character)

I'm actually serious about Tingle. He is the most recurring characters in LoZ after the triforce 3, if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually made it in.

True that he was present in a handful of Zelda games but he wasn't an important character just a recurring character as you said the Triforce 3 are main characters important to the franchise Link as the main Protagonist Ganon as the main antagonist and Zelda the main character Link must protect (and has her name in the games).

I don't think there will be any more honestly any possible characters haven't been in enough games, as important characters anyway, Vaati only appeared in like what? 2 games maybe and excluding the ones that were his own, Tingle was in a handful of games as a recurring character.

Best Sakurai would do with Zelda is update the current characters, namely Zelda and Link, with the Skyward Sword versions and Ganondorf could possibly be replaced with this new antagonist Ghirahim or Ghirahim will be added as a second villian character. And a Skyward Sword stage will likely be added and maybe a Spirit Tracks stage moving train stage maybe? and maybe even a revamped 64 Hyrule castle stage for Ocarina of Time 3DS.

Aside from a promo character, I'd say a Midna + Wolf Link combo would be the most likely to get in.

Nah, they would've put that in Brawl, since they updated Link's look for that. They would've used Wolf Link for a Final Smash or something.

And I don't know how popular Tingle is in Europe. Someone from that area would have to tell me.

tingles more popular in europe than he is in america but not by much. I have the tingle game and while it is fun you get to a point where your just running about trying to find rupees cause you don't have enough. It wasn't popular enough to get the sequel over here.
I don't mind tingle so much but my friend hates him so it's opinion in the end

Gah, I actually want him to be playable now. Heck, he probably has as much going for him as Yoshi, and people are still going to buy Smash4 regardless of whether Tingle is in it or not.

Plus I would have SO MUCH FUN beating people up with him over wifi. Just imagining people's faces after getting their ass kicked by Tingle gives me troll boners.

As I said before , its just round. It's different, but that doesn't mean its fucked up.
For the last fourteen years Nintendo has been using the same basic design for Zelda.
Which is very weird considering that every Zelda game is supposed to be set in a different era of Hyrule (direct sequels excluded).
