Yes, I am that much of a geek that I watch this. Anyone else watching? I know it sort of jumped the shark the last few years, but really, with the addition of Steven Tyler and the loss of Simon, it seems to be really revived. I'm very impressed with the genuine level of talent this year. So far it's been much better than before.
2011 American Idol?

Yeah im watching too :p Love steven tyler.
-
Yay a fellow watcher. Thank you!
Steven had genuinely upped the class level, I feel. I get the feeling the entire panel is rooting for every single contestant, and is really sorry to send them packing, which is just so much nicer to watch than Simon's shenanigans, (which he never pulled, from what I saw the admittedly feeble few times I watched anyway, on Britain's Got Talent.) And I actually like Simon.
-
I have no interest. I like Steven Tyler but I feel that Simon really made American Idol. Just as much as we loved to watch good/bad contestants rise/fall, we (the viewers and me really) loved to watch Simon's "shenanigans." But, I haven't watched it since like 5 seasons ago anyway.
-
Simon was slowly getting boring to me anyway. I can't say I'll miss him, but then agian… I have not watched this show IN FULL a long time. I nomrally see a couple of auditions and then wait until the final 3. From there I proceed on skipping out drag-some flashback segments in the final episodes.
-
Enjoy Simon on X Factor which is better anyway.
-
Never really liked the show, but I enjoy the atmosphere when Simon's not there. Much less hostile.
That said, the show seems to be more "American Drama Queen" than "American Idol" this season. At least, thats how it seems while my family's watching it in the living room and I'm in the dining room on the computer.
(Transformer guy was pretty cool, shame he couldn't sing)

LOL Are you making fun of my choice of words, andre?
As I said, I liked and usually agreed with Simon, but he lost interest in the show years ago and it affected both his performance and the show. And, IMHO, being sharp toungued isn't always funny nor is it always entertaining–though it may occasionally make for more drama, which IMHO, American TV studios seem to assume we all want to see.

Dunno how it is over there. But here Simon is the one we love to hate. And we do so because he's the one that says what's on everybody's mind.

Well thanks Flux. I guess I only saw him when it was a great performance, and he was being nice, lol. I stand corrected about Simon on BGT, then.

Cowell wasn't good on his own. I haven't seen Idol since Ellen DeGeneres had a judge's spot. A lot of people like Cowell because of his sarcasm and blunt criticism, but really, much of that endearment was through contrast with Paula and Randy. None of the trio were much on their own but together they made a fun group, and breaking that up was the second nail in Idol's coffin. The first was Clay Aiken not winning Idol 2 and I say this despite really liking Ruben and voting for him.
-
I also find it funny how most of the American Idol winners from past seasons haven't done anything of important recognition in awhile. Ruben, Hicks, and DeWyze for example
-
havne't watched since a few years ago actively
i checked out last year a few ep and the people sucked so ignored it
this year i saw one last week i think and they seemed decent (was a hollywood week) so going to check out again come the first time they start singing solo in that little stage and see if htere are pople i like

I have been out of the loop with this show for the last 3 seasons. Although I'm pretty curious in seeing Steven Tyler on the show. Maybe I'll check it out.

It's how reality TV works.

I lost interest in Vietnam Idol after the two first times.
The last time I watched, there were two guys I liked. A guy who looked like me and a guy who lived not far from my house (because I like to associate everything with me >:/ ). They both won high awards though and are the only two that still stay famous and active after the award. -
Last season I watched was the trainwreck with Adam Lambert.
I really liked Allison Iraheta… and Megan Corkerey became a running gag.

i'm not a big watcher. I like the early episodes where they are weeding everyone out. more comical then. lots of interesting characters. "pants on the floor" guy" That Asian guy that couldn't sing in one of the first seasons. what's this transformer guy about?
and ya, Simon was always right, but pretty harsh with how he went about it.
-
Steven go back to Aerosmith. Randy go back to Journey. Third person go back and die.
-
Common Cyan. Don't be so shy, tell us what you really think.

This guy made a full blown Transformer gear type thing. He could turn into a miniature truck and move around like that. They also had a singing armadillo, among other things. I gotta admit, I love Brett Loewenstern and the chubby 15 year-old boy whose name escapes me. I hope they continue to do well. I could tell from the start the couple wouldn't make it together and the guy was obviously the weaker link. I gotta say, I think Jennifer Lopez makes a great judge because she's soft and comforting, but knows how to do her job. Steven Tyler is a great addition, too.

You mean the kid that got booted from one group and then picked up by a second during Hollywood week. He is sweet. We ought to find out if he makes it through tonite, I'd think. Next week starts the top 24 performers

Casey went home? Screw American Idol. He was easily the most talented and developed singer/musician/showmen left on the show.
-
Well, it's usually better not to actually win, since they tie the winners into such a restrictive contract afterwards, I hear. I'm sure he's been noticed by tptb and will have a smashing career now, if he plays it right.
