I wonder if it's too much to hope for that the next patch on their agenda will be Spectator Mode. =\
Actually about that.
I was reading some old interviews and apparently the problem with spectator mode is one of lag and the code for SSFIV is meant for players with one character each.
Apparently having 3 characters per person is a bitch and a half to the netcode that they use and they need a workaround to ensure we get lag free gaming.
In essence: if we get spectator mode RIGHT NOW, we'll have a laggy mess of an online game.
Dunno why it's taking this long though, since MvC2 runs just fine (albeit those are decade old pixels running around in some old ass 3D backgrounds)
-
Good matches Tonfa.
Nice back and forth. I laughed pretty hard when we did the double chris hyper combo (grenades) that canceled each other out perfectly!
-
Yeah, I was laughing my ass off at that. Sorry about that one time I dropped earlier, the phone was ringing and I didn't actually hear it until the third ring before the answering machine kicks in (ended up being a wrong number caller >:I)
Its gonna take a while for me to fully adjust to the stick, I see things that I should be doing alot more of (like advance guarding while Amaterasu batters away with that Flame-disc weapon) but when I go to actually move fingers I herp-a-derp from time to time, but on the whole I can see where a lot of shit is gonna be easier to pull off.
-
Ammy loves her shield bash.
She's 100% my launch character. The beads are cool ok but rigid and i'm still getting better with the thunder sword… but the shield makes her soooo useful as a rushdown character. Coupled with her standing medium which is GREAT for poking into hard then shield bash'n time.
Hope I wasn't spamming that shit. I always make an attempt to mix her up... but then again what works WORKS. I've ran into some ammy players online who are waaaay worse. Some who don't even follow up the towards hard shield bash with a launch!
It always sucks being on the receiving end of any exploited character combo. Hulk's air rape to gamma tsunami makes me rage. lol.
-
Got my 50th ranked win, motha fucka!

No no, you weren't bad at all, I just still haven't found the right gameplan when I'm going up against an Amaterasu. She's just so low to the ground has a lot of fast attacks, its particularly difficult when fighting her with Chris :/
-
Yeah. Ammy is a REALLY bad matchup for Chris.

Due to Dissidia Duodecim I probably won't be on MVC3 for awhile, but it's cool to hear Capcom's patching all these shinanegans! Looks like we'll be getting the retroactive balancing we were hoping for.
-
WOW! That sucks. Should I even buy this game or stick with SSFIV?
(fix'd yo's spellin)
If your looking for a game that is a lot of fun, get MVC3If your looking for a high skilled, fighter, that will take an insanely long time to master, get SSF4. It's better (overall) as far as a fighter goes, but not on the fun level. On that aspect it falls way below MVC3
I prefer MVC3 but that's cause I'm a scrub
I wonder if it's too much to hope for that the next patch on their agenda will be Spectator Mode. =\
Don't get your hopes up. I wouldin't expect anything that extreme. Capcom tends to make us buy a whole new game for sht like that (fcking Capcom…. :getlost:)
(BTW your avatar is hot as hell! Did you make it yourself?)
Thanks to Desk, it's turns out Akuma lost his tatsu infinite.
Thank god Akuma and Sent were nerfed/changed!
My friend's main team is Hulk, Sentinel, & Akuma… and he knows EACH of those characters are easy, and imbalanced (cept Hulk, once you learn to anti-him).
It was fucking annoying getting owned by his fucking Akuma infinite, when you know you can't do sht about it. Fcking bullsht! He complained when I used Haggar, when he does sht like that to me T.T

Bolded for Truthiness.
But that's how SF3 and MvC2 were back then, before the insane shit like Daigo Parry and MvC2 infinites starting showing up.

I used to prefer the Marvel series when I was younger but with time I prefer the technical aspect of the street fighter series.
As a fan, Street fighter anthology might be a great choice. You got 4 games in 1. I consider alpha 2 as the best of the best. I love the 2d graphics, it is very manga and anime. It is very technic and there are no 150% more spinning. The ost is godly and the artworks are at their peak.
-
Street Fighter Zero II Dash.
The greatest Street Fighter I've ever owned.
Period.
-
Amen to that Sarus.

-
….I'm assuming you mean Alpha 2 Gold? For me, Alpha 2 itself was the high point of Street Fighter, but it's not like you have to choose since they're both on the Anthology. That or HD Remix are best imo, HDR especially if you don't have a way to play PS2 games. SSF4 is cool but I think Capcom lost something by making their fighters "kinda 3D."
3rd Strike is gonna be re-released soon, too. For not so serious fighters, MvC2 is obviously available as well. Of course it's all about personal preference but all of these games are or will be half the price of MvC3.
-
Half the price, yet double the worth of Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
-
Actually about that.
I was reading some old interviews and apparently the problem with spectator mode is one of lag and the code for SSFIV is meant for players with one character each.

Yeah, I figured that if Capcom were having any issues due to spectator mode, it would be lag. I'm not sure if it's due to the 3-character thing, or perhaps the volume of special effects and Super cutscenes going on at any given time, or perhaps all of these. But it lack of this option is very sorely felt, at least to me. It's sad, because I do not believe what we have here is a fully tested and finished game, but one that was still having the kinks ironed out when it was released. On the one hand I can understand this because I'm sure the company has deadlines to meet and delays cost money. But on the other hand, the unpolished nature of the game comes across as a huge disservice to their fans, and spectator mode to me is just one of those things that probably should have been finished before the game shipped. People like to watch matches, not license cards bumping uglies over and over again while they're waiting for their turn. It's just…lame. And it takes some of the fun out of online play, I think.
But in the end, I'd rather wait and have a lag-free (lol, as if) spectator mode than one that's buggy as hell, I guess. :<
Don't get your hopes up. I wouldin't expect anything that extreme. Capcom tends to make us buy a whole new game for sht like that (fcking Capcom…. :getlost:)
Ha ha, I can only imagine the outcry if Capcom announced that spectator mode would only be included in Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3, lol. Surely they wouldn't dare. They'll release a patch eventually, I think–they're just going to take their sweet time about it. =\
(BTW your avatar is hot as hell! Did you make it yourself?)
Why, thank you. ^^ I didn't draw the art of course, but I removed the background and resized the image. Here is the artist, if you're interested: http://omar-dogan.deviantart.com/gallery/
-
They're NOT going to release a patch.
If we even get a "Spectator Mode," it will be through "Super Marvel vs. Capcom 3."
Hoping for a spectator mode now is hopeless, just like this shit game with its shitty netcode.

i was happy in my ignorance you heartless bastard

So, did everyone just forget that Street Fighter is the only fighter that does the "Super" thing, or does cynicism come before logic these days? :wassat:

I'm not "everyone," Shmeck-boy.

You kidding?
Tekken?
Guilty Gear?
Blazblue?
Forget what, exactly.

We are getting kinda off-topic but I actually kinda fucking hate SSF2HDR.
I consider it one of the top 3 worst buying decisions I have made for PSN.
I own the SF2 Anniversary collection for Ps2 and consider that game 100x better than HDR.
-
Tekken I can't vouch for. Haven't played it since Tekken 4, and I only dabbled in 6. BlazBlue didn't do that, Continuum Shift was an outright sequel, and CS2 is DLC. Guilty Gear only did that shit with XX. One game. Though admittedly they patched that shit so many times it practically became an entirely different game. MVC has never done the "Super" thing. Street Fighter is the only franchise to continually do extra versions and release them as new games(2, 3, 4, and Alpha), and is the only current fighting game franchise running right now still doing it. Tekken 6's "new version" was the rebalanced console release, BlazBlue I covered, KoF didn't even get one when it needed one, etc. etc. etc.
-
Super upgrades… fucking A right?
Kinda like when I got made into a sub mod. I was given a upgrade with some extra features, but not a complete over-hall like a full mod. I have a several extra jokes... about four more avatars and a new color choice. Oh and some tweaks to my posting here and there. But otherwise i'm the same damn game... umm i mean poster.
And I try not to swear as much.

Alright, so there usually a lot of garbage coming out of GameFAQs messageboards but this topic is actually pretty funny:

Marvel vs. Capcom can do that shit with SMvC3. ONE GAME.
You're stupid as fucking hell. (we all know that here) "Continuum Shift II" is a SUPER version of… can it be?! Continuum motherfucking Shift!
Haha! Continuum Shift II can't be its own game, because of the evil download content, despite being released in arcades.
A Super/Update is a super fucking update.Super shut the hell up, dumbass.
Oh, and you forgot Darkstalkers, by the way, mute guy.

Arksys didn't ONLY do it with XX. There's a Guilty Gear X, Guilty Gear X Plus, and Guilty Gear X ver 1.5.
Guilty Gear XX. One game? You can't handwave this bullshit, dude.
Guilty Gear XX
Guilty Gear Isuka
Guilty Gear XX Reload
Guilty Gear XX Slash
Guilty Gear XX ^ Core
And Guilty Gear XX ^ Core Plus ALL WENT TO CONSOLES.How can you call something a patch when you have to buy it as a full priced game? How aren't these super versions, despite the fact that they only added two characters over 5 games?
And as Saurus mentioned, Blazblue HAS done it.
Street Fighter isn't the only company that does it, just admit it.
-
I didn't mean "One Game" as in there was only one XX update, I meant they only updated one game: XX. Forgot about the X updates, to be honest.
BlazBlue CS2 is a DLC patch to an existing game. We don't even know how much they're charging, and it's certainly not being released as a seperate retail game, ala SSF4.
Ugh, I'm tired of these dumbass semantics arguments. Here:
Street Fighter is the only current fighting game franchise on the market who still participates in the practice of releasing entirely new retail entries that are simply the same game with a prefix/suffix added to the original title, and merely serves as an update to the previous installment to whom it shares a name, and the cynical suggestions that Marvel vs Capcom 3 will do the same are unfounded due to the fact that this particular franchise has never once done it, and we have already been promised further content through DLC patches as well as further character balancing through the same method.
Now, please, find a sentence to pick apart in that statement so we can waste more time arguing.
-
OH MY GOD! NIGGER! SILENCE! LEAVE ME ALONE! I'M TIRED OF ARGUING OVER STUPID ASS ARGUMENTS THAT I STARTED! AS USUAL!!!
Okay, okay, leave him alone Silence. Before he ingore you, yet ninjaly reply to you as well.

Uh…you might want to change the spelling of one of the words up there to avoid a banning.

Yeah, yeah.

Well did a few more missions before I sleep. Found out that I'm either on or passed the 250 mark so that means I got around 70 missions left. Plat Bioshock 2 not too long ago so I feel a bit motivated to see this to the end.
I'm at the 300 missions mark now; only 20 missions left . . .
These last 20 will murder my fingers for sure.
-
So, what exactly IS Event Mode going to be?
-
So, what exactly IS Event Mode going to be?
I'm assuming it's going to be matches with set conditions like beat the computer in 20 seconds or beat the computer with 30% HP.

I've barely done any. I better start catching up.

Agreed. But to be fair, Capcom isn't the only one in this boat. A lot of big publishers tend to put out games that are around the less than 100% complete mark. I would shudder to think if this game was developed by VALVE or Bethesda.
On the other hand, I guess its great that we live in a day and age when stuff like exploits, glitches and errors are actually acknowledged and can be fixed up through downloads.
-
On the other hand, I guess its great that we live in a day and age when stuff like exploits, glitches and errors are actually acknowledged and can be fixed up through downloads.
Agreed. It didn't take long for them to acknowledge Sentinel or the Tatsumaki infinite and fix it, either, which is nice.
-
It seems that the 3D stuff is an extra source of revenue like DLC costume for SF4. We know over 2 millions of SF4 were sold. The DLC is like $3.99 shit 4 dollars for a package of DLC costumes.
Let's say half of the people bought a single package and Capcom gets 4 million in an instant.
Besides, I heard 3d models make things easier in making alternate costume and customizing the characters. If I recall correctly making alternate costumes on 2D sprites is a pain because the developers would have to redraw the characters animations. it definetely explains why I have never seen alternate costumes (except for Chun Li) on Capcom's 2D sprites games only alternate colors.
I don't think it costs that much because the DOA and Tekken series never charged the players for alternate costumes.
-
Very true. I mean, Tekken's and Soul Calibur's current method of character customization is insane. It really shouldn't cost much at all, let alone, take much time.
I will say that the costumes of this game are far more well done than Soul Calibur's, but still.
-
It depends on which Soul Calibur you talk about. SC's 4 costumes and customization definetely feel cheap.
However, the SC1 alternate outfits were amazing and inspired. SC was a game done with incredible care. You felt that the developers gave their all for the players. Everything was perfect except the dreamcast intro.
-
Agreed. It didn't take long for them to acknowledge Sentinel or the Tatsumaki infinite and fix it, either, which is nice.
Oh yeah! They acknowledged Sentinel alright!
"Let's massively shrink down his healthfu, although that was NOT his main problemu! That should helpu!"
I know Capcom feels reallllly fucking stupid to have nothing but Anti-Sentinel complaining about him to Pro-Sentinel AND Anti-Sentinel together complaining about their "fix."
This game is assier, now that the challenge is gone.
-

Saurus, you're being ridiculous. Or you're being Saurus. Same thing.
You mad because now all the strategies you made up to deal with Sentinel's health are now even more effective. It's YOU that feels stupid.
-
You goddamn right I'm mad! Mad as shit!
Hence:
"This game is assier, now that the challenge is gone."Sentinel's main problem was his damage input. Now with that shit health, while having outrageous power, yet retard kid speed is going to hurt that piece of robotic shit, to the point that everyone is going to drop him. (Oh yes, Capcom's patch was to get rid of some "lolembarassinginfinites" and put Sentinel from God-tier to F-tier)
Scrubs: "That's all I wanted!!!"
However, folks, there's a BIGGER PROBLEM. Bigger than pre-patch Sentinel and post-patch Sentinel combined.
X-Factor.
Get that bullshit out of here.
We should be able to turn that cheap shit off.
-
X-Factor is so fucking horrible.
I didn't mind Baroque in TvC but this shit is ridiculous.
