YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
It already looked amazing… but then when I saw the multiplayer souls part.. damn I had a fan moment.
cannot wait.
Has an estimated release date been revealed yet?
Edit- Oops, just reskimmed and it said holidays 2011. FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU I won't be home when this releases. I'll have to wait a couple of months to be able to play it.

A shitload of new screenshots.
This game seriously looks abso-positively-lutely amazing.
Considering playing a new kind of character in Demon's Souls to hold me off.
I finally got the Platinum trophy for Demon's Souls. Can't wait to do the same for Dark Souls XD
Coming next week, can't wait!
AHAHAHAHAHA.
Sorry, just that my leave is actually coming up soon so I'll actually get to play it while it's fairly new. @_@
Got this game 4 days ago and all I have to say is AMAZING!
And yeah you will die! a lot!
Just watched a bunch of IGNs 24 hour marathon. Unfortunately they are almost done with it… but i'm sure they'll have vids up later. The game looks great!
Yeah, the game looks really fun, and I can't wait for it. I tried watching that stream a few times, but it seemed like every time I was loaded up they were showing how to cheapshot a boss, which wasn't really what I was going for.
Only saw their naked run on the double boss encounter, looked super funny.
Most all Gamestops are doing a midnight release tonight because there are like 4 major titles coming out. Good thing I got a lot of work done today…
Id go to my store's midnight… but since we operate out of a mall... we only participate in a nearby gamestop's midnight by only bringing FULLY paid off copies down the street. This means i'd have to stop by the store before 9, pay off my games... wait around till 12... and then pick up what has already been rung out.
And I work tomorrow, so I can just wait. bites lip.... even though I wanna play it. But I suppose I have the Uncharted 3 subway multiplayer beta to keep me occupied.
Really fun game so far. I've made it to the first bell and haven't died that much (10 times or so), mostly due to helpful messages left by other players. That's not really what I signed up for, to be honest. I want a few people to lead me off of a cliff or come into my game and kill me or something.
Man, I can't believe I forgot to preorder it. I guess I just got busy, how is the character creation in this one, essentially the same as in demon's souls or is it better? Please tell me the male/female slider is gone lol.
I'm surprised this game is getting more AP love for how cool it is. It's totally destroying me right now and I love it. I've killed 3 main bosses (4 if you count the tutorial one), and I'm pretty sure I'm in the triple digits for deaths now.
Character creation is extremely basic. There's very little to do, and I don't think I saw a single slider. Pick a starting class (which only matters for the first 10 levels or so), pick a starting item, pick male or female and then one of like 8 preset faces and then a hairstyle for it (which also doesn't matter since you always have a hood or something on and you spend the vast majority of the time as a zombie that doesn't look the same), and pick… umm... a name.
I don't own a PS3, so I never played Demon Souls, so I can't really compare them.
I will have this on the 11th, I hope to invade one of you guys some day. (that own the game on ps3.)

Ah, well that's whats so great about From Software and Namco-Bandai making this for 360 as well. Demon's Souls was undoubtedly my favorite game of this console generation, with only Morrowind beating it out overall. Demon's Souls char creation was rather in depth, though you would look retarded unless you went with the premade faces because of all the sliders.
Anyways, the only thing in my way of getting this game is my extreme cheapness. I hope this doesn't come down to me having to sell my body… again :ninja:
Fighting through the New Londo Ruins is the hardest thing I've done in a really long time. Fighting things that hover from all sides on a narrow bridge is just cruel lol.
I'm loving the game so far. Currently I haven't rung any bells yet cause I'm grinding bladers atm. I completed the armor set for those early fodder so I felt compelled to finish the blader set sing I got the gloves and legs atm. Great parry training for them and upgrading all my stuff.
never really followed much about this game aside from it was a spiritual sucessor to Demon's Souls. Picked it up today simply because they had the Special Edition version in the supermarket lol. Will have a go at it tonight but quite excited.
I've taken to helping rate up players who leave evil messages, as well as leaving some of my own.
Like, on a dead end that leads straight into a bottomless cliff, I left something to the effect of saying there was death in front of it. Then a few steps before it, "Beware of liars".
I got a couple rating ups, so knowing some people saw it, I imagine some people also must've fallen for it. And it feels good. Dark Souls, mo'fucka
Anyways I'm a Pyromancer and I'm loving this game best game ever etc.
I am currently…
! At Moonlight Butterfly, at the end of the Darkroot Garden, but I did such chump change damage with melee and only have 8 uses of Fireball, so it seems too difficult at the moment. I went back to the Burg to hit up the Lower end of it and I plan to take care of Butterfly once I have more pyromancy.
! I met the Capras Demon, but died because a vine got in the camera's way immediately. I got a lot done yesterday and I'll work more today. Feels tremendous yo.
Hahaha, that's awesome. So far the best trolling I've seen is right after the tutorial. People put messages suggesting other people try to attack the npc sitting there. Well, once you draw aggro and he one shots you, he'll keep coming over and killing you when you respawn at that bonfire 6 inches away. It's basically forcing people to start over.
I'm loving this game like crazy too. I've literally been putting all the free time I can muster into it since I got it. All the dying just makes me want to play it more. Masochism? Maybe so.
As for you:
! I'm surprised you're not doing much damage melee to the butterfly. I went through like half the thing's life bar when I had a chance to smash it. Two landings and a couple fireballs were all I needed. Maybe you need a better weapon?
! I found Capra Demon to be harder. Getting his two dogs down without dying is a trial. I suppose he's not so bad once you do, though. Those opportunities are just rare. There isn't much more than those two bosses that stand between where we're at at this point.
As for me:
! I spent almost all my time yesterday trying to conquer New Londo Ruins (where the ghosts live). I managed to get through it to the end today after a couple tries, but the game trolled me expertly by having nothing worthwhile waiting for me at the end! Lol, just a curse healer I couldn't use since I'd lost my humanity points many deaths prior. That'll teach me. To make matters worse, once I returned, the miracles trainer had friends with him and said he was going to be leaving. I tried to farm up a few souls quick but when I came back he was already gone before I ever even bought the basic heal spell. You win this round, Dark Souls. At least I managed to kill the giant hydra down in Blackroot Depths, who was far easier than I thought he'd be.
! I suppose that means I have to go back to the sewers, ugh. Hopefully I can conquer that area tonight if I have time to play. Maybe I should buy my pyromancy spells before that guy runs off on me, too.
! I'm glad this game is so brutal, but I'm sad to see that they nerfed curses. Frog curses kill you and leave you with half your maximum hp until you get healed of it, but as of the last patch they no longer stack, so half is as low as it goes, rather than pushing you to 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.
Getting ready to sink my teeth into this one.
Any suggestions on who I should start out as? im seeing pyromancer is a good started class.
Once you get a little ways into the game it doesn't matter who you start out as. That being said, pyromancer gets a very powerful early game spell, and makes the early portions of the game pretty easy. Thief gets the master key for free and you get to choose a 2nd gift to go with it, so it might be best for endgame. No other class really has any benefit as far as endgame is concerned that I can tell.
Hmmmm quite enjoying the game. Got quite a few things which I assume will be explained in the game. (Purpose of Kindling, Souls, Humanity etc) finding it to be rather weird in the way the deaths work. Mainly due to how varying the enemies strength can be. You can OHKO them or it can take 8 hits lol
No, that stuff isn't really explained in the game. You sort of just have to figure it out. Here's a rundown as far as I know:
! Souls: Used both to purchase items and level up. The souls you've collected drop when and shortly before where you die and you have until you die again to recover them. You want to spend them when you can since you're always at risk of losing them. It's a balancing act to figure out what to spend them on, between items and levels.
! Humanity: Used to turn from undead into human. Once you're human you have options that typically require more humanity. You can use kindling (cost of 1 additional humanity), invade someone else's game who went human, recruit help from someone who's offering it, etc. Once you die you're back to being undead. The risk of being human is that other players can come into your world, for better or worse. Humanity is also lost when you die like your souls are.
! Kindling: Permanently improves a bonfire. A kindled bonfire restores 10 estus flasks instead of 5. There might also be some sort of improvement to that later on, but I don't really know. Either way it's really helpful for bonfires you use a lot.
lol yeah I figured out about the levelling up elsewhere online. I guess this game really was meant to be made with guides in mind. But it is fun. I just beat the Taurus Demon. Got past the Dragon only to walk up stairs and get OHKO'd by a knight lol. All the way back to 20 mins ago~
Nah, I don't think this game is designed for a guide. I think it's designed in a way that anything crucial can be figured out with a little trial and error. Of course there are a lot of hidden things to get cool gear and such, but really those are a lot more rewarding to find without help, and it's possible to. I'm not going to pull out a guide until my 2nd or 3rd playthrough when I've unlocked the harder difficulties (can you imagine).
Also,
! If you turn the other way after going past the dragon and go down the stairs that are immediately in front of you, there's a ladder you can kick down which connects to the bonfire you probably respawned at. One of the many shortcuts you can open in the game once you get to the far end of said shortcut.
! lol yeah I figured out that I already did that. (after half a dozen more deaths tho lol) just now I finally crossed the bridge and defeated the armoured boar and got the cool helmet. Continued for another 5 mins or so after and got killed by the new Knight.
Some of the stuff is just kinda ridiculous tho. Like being unable to cure poison. I just suicide once that happens XD or how random the Kick mechanism works.
There are ways to cure poison, you just don't have access to them yet. Really it's just another version of death for a while, which is fine since death is common. I never even got poisoned the first time until I hit Blight Town, which is haaaard. But if you think poison is ridiculous, just wait until you get cursed. Death doesn't cure that one.
! Most of the black knights are optional for quite a while. Sort of just off the beaten path, though I went out of my way to fight them most of the time anyway. I might be forgetting one, but the first one I remember actually getting in the way was in Blackroot. There's also something similar in the church, but I don't recall if it was actually a black knight or not.
lol. Here's one for you Dark Souls fans. Angry Joe does an LP of the beginning of Dark Souls:
http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/10/dark-souls-angry-review/
And gets repeatedly killed in the first five minutes. LOL.
Yeaaaaaaah. I think I'm just gonna leave this game for a while and try again later. Been on the exact same spot for about four hours now. I don't mind a challenge in games but this just feels like I'm wasting time hoping to get lucky at some point.
Edit: eeeeeeh. Maybe I'll just grind for a few hours XD

Spending some time grinding can really help. I spent a while upgrading my gear before I ventured forward and got pretty far before needing to grind again.
Speaking of Let's Plays >.>
!
Yeah I got to the next Bonfire. Kinda unsure where I'm supposed to go now. One route has a Huge Black Knight that OHKOs me and the other has a Blacksmith and a Stone thing that kills me in about 3 hits.
! The huge black knight looking guy in the church is probably the route to go, honestly. He's a mini boss, so once you kill him that's it. He's supposed to be hard, and the easiest main boss remaining is up the stairs behind him. I would drag him outside the church where there's more space and whittle him down with some range attacks. And the item you pick up back where he was standing is traded to someone behind bars just down the stairs from the first bonfire (the elevator you open up is a shortcut there) in order to upgrade your estus flasks to +1.
! The lightning guy outside the blacksmith is meant to be skipped I think. The area behind him is easier than he is. He doesn't leave his room, either, so it's not that hard to just run past him. I only killed him recently.
! the guy with the Trident? Yeah I just got to him. XD Damn it seems its continuously throwing enemies that outclass me one after another XD

! Ah ha ha I was too dense and managed to kill the lightning guy after the gargoyle fight. The main trick I used was staying close to him since his swings missed most of the time.
Anyone else gotten:
! The sword from the Red Dragon's tail? I got it to try and beat the Gargoyles….kinda helps. Still get pwned when the second one comes down and breathes fire XD

! You know, I do wonder. When I went back and beat him he seemed kinda too easy. I don't know if I just waited longer than I needed to or if I could have taken him down when I first met him. He basically oneshot me the first time I saw him and I dismissed the idea of fighting him right away. It took me a while before I figured out I could run past him and that the area behind him was easier, too.
! I haven't had a chance to play today, but I went to the area in the back of the woods that requires a 20k soul key from the blacksmith yesterday. It was hard, but each kill was netting me 2k souls! I might just powerlevel myself all the way to 50 there, since it doesn't seem like it'd take very long. I already got the strength and dex needed to wield the dark knight sword, which is slow but damn is it strong.
! The other option is going back to Blight Town, which made me its bitch the first time I ventured into the area. That area is seriously brutal.

! I had a great time fighting the boss in that area. Sadly my camera's memory got full so I didn't record the winning fight 8C I was level 34 around that time so have fun figuring out that boss 8D
^Talk about trolling.

! If you're talking about the Butterfly, I beat that thing before I got access to that back area of the woods. I also beat the hydra in the depths which was super fun. If you're talking about something else, then I haven't even seen it yet lol.

jap.. I totally fell for that one! Any chance to beat this NPC or do I have to start over?
Also..do you have any suggestions where to head next? Heading straight forward seems kind of wrong, since there are lots of skelleton warriors whom are strong as hell..

Kinda go to the right. (although I advise you go down the holes to get some treasure.) but yeah it's kinda to the right and up. You'll fight some easier undead guys

Word to the wise, never attack npc's. Once you get on their aggro list it's over for ever being able to talk to them again from what I understand. Even if you can beat him, it'd be better to just start over since it's not far into the game at all.
And yeah, to the right and up the stairs.
With what character do you guys play the game? Is it possible to use swords with the pyramant instead of that axe? Maybe I need to level something up first.. hmm
