Fantastic chapter. Kinda unsettling that the Monster Trio one-shotted Pacifista like that but given that even New World fodder could take them down, this is the least they should be able to do if they really go all out.
Anyone who has the gall to compare this to Naruto needs a serious kick in the head. This is absolutely the exact opposite. Luffy has not only shown an incredible increase in fighting power and capability, he's overcome the main force that blocked him on his journey the first time with flying colors. He IS a totally new Luffy. He has already proven as such in just three chapters that his two years training have not been a waste and that he's not someone who's gonna fall flat on his face during crunch time.

He's almost dead, he sees that Luffy defeated him, he lost his will because he is defenseless against Luffy, anyone would lose his will at that, except someone like Whitebeard, for example, which was defenseless against Blackbeard and still stood like a man

I'm sure he'll say it again after an epic hug and little cry together. He had to say it to Rayleigh and his crew but not together as that event should only be a moment for them. Besides Zoro and Sanji are the least prone to falling to their emotions about the reunion so it's all good.

I just couldn't help but notice all the talk about how Kuma is supposed to withstand generic attacks from Sanji/Zoro/Luffy if the PX's are easily defeated by it. The explanation is simple. Kuma is a character (and he can also probably equip haki). All the reasoning about Kuma being made of the same material does not make any sense, if you think about it normal flesh and bone of high-tier characters can withstand kicks from Sanji or punches from Luffy (they evade Zoro's attacks), and the material used in PX's are definitely stronger than flesh and bones. If your argument is based on Kuma no longer being able to withstand attacks from the monster trio because of his body's materials, then you might as well extend it to all other characters made of flesh and bones.

Precisely! I was going to mention this earlier but the conversation had already ended and I didn't want to re-ignite it. But yes, it's foolish to think Kuma is fodder based on the material he's made out of because then you'd have to extend that to every character in the series ever.

I just prefer it to have the crew not miss that moment. But whatever. Not a big deal. Kinda felt rushed, but didn't bug me much.
Seems like from now on Oda is free of all the things binding him before. Hopefully One Piece will even get better in the upcoming chapters.

Kinda hard to do if it's gonna overshadow something far more epic coming next week:) Besides, it served its purpose. Luffy showed he's kickass again and shouted he's gonna be the Pirate King to a respected mentor who worked hard to get him on his feet again. That moment really should have been just between Luffy and Rayleigh. Next week is gonna be all about being back together again than starting again really for them:)

The Pacifistas could take down one alone Drake X. (though he wasn't really defeat he couldn't fight anymore), if you forgot. They are too a menace to all pirates and outlaws in One Piece. To defeat one Pacifista, it was need all the crew (mostly Luffy, Zoro and Sanji). Now Luffy can one-hit it. Plus, Luffy has haki and made Rayleigh cry manly tears.
Naruto had to train again meaning that his time-skip was, uhh… nothing at all. He couldn't even fight Sasuke. And it's only a bell, you could compare both if he defeated Kakashi.
Which one is more awesome now?

I don't think your will weakens after a fight, at least not for the purpose of haki. If you can resist it, you should be able to resist it always.

Dahem – since when have Zoro and Sanji ever been the "hug and cuddle" type? -- especially to each other or to Luffy? This is how they play their particular game: they show concern and care for each other by being reliable when they're most needed, not by hugs and cuddles. Here's a little segment of something I wrote earlier about Zoro and Sanji that might help to explain their behavior a little better: (with apologies to everyone who's already seen this thing THREE times)
! Think of it this way, too: the whole Alpha battle is just their way of keeping each other from slacking off, and testing each other to see if they're at full strength.
! I'm sure everyone's heard the advice about how if you want to reach a fitness goal you should get a partner – because the friendly-but-intense rivalry between you and your partner will make you both reach that goal faster than you would by yourself.
! Just before Kuma pawed them all, the Alpha battle was temporarily suspended: Sanji sensed that Zoro wasn't at full strength and couldn't be, and so he stopped Alpha-ing Zoro, and instead concentrated on saving him.
! He even asked Zoro point blank, in perfect sincerity: "are you going to be ok?" ... Which is very thoughtful, but totally against the rules of the game, so that's why Zoro said "shut up!" because the way the Alpha battle works, you show that you're ok, you don't talk about it.
! So now, two years later, the first thing Sanji says to the fisherman is: "nah, he's fine … he won't die" -- almost as if finishing his own thought from two years ago. And as soon as he and Zoro see each other, they launch into the Alpha battle again. Now they know they're both at full strength without having to go through the awkwardness of asking: "so how are you feeling?" "did all those wounds heal well?" etc
As for the others, I bet that Usopp, Nami, Brook and Chopper will be much more free with the hugs and happiness when they see Luffy – as they were when they reunited with Robin (and in Usopp's case, when he reunited with the crew). Expect a huge outpouring of tears from Franky, too. Robin will probably smile wistfully from the sidelines.
