That manga was TERRIBLE.
He deserves it. I was re-reading over the war today and It was still such a powerful read. I got the sense that everything predating tha war was just a buid-up. For those of us who have followed the series for years with a great passion it is hard not to be moved by such an incredible event that have been growing for so long. I don't know any other major mangaka that has thought done as effective of a job of telling his epic master work (meaning the story spans 100's of chapters) as Oda has (have yet to read Berserk fwi.) Oda is my hero, what a beautiful world he has created (I look up to great storytellers more than anyone. )

I am not sure if this poll is soley based off of each individual mangaka's prime work but if it isn't Inoue has also created Real and Vagabond (Vagabond being one of my favorite mangas ever.) Haven't read Slam Dunk so I can't speak of it's merit but his other major works are exceptional.
Slam dunk is a masterpiece which made Basketball famous in japan.
It's probably all life work for these mangaka looking them over. Tezuka has a massive backlog that defined practically most manga that exists and Toriyama has Dr. Slump so I can say Inoue's other works count too.
Oda…well, he's done ton for one manga (so far).

Well, his art evolved. As an artist myslef, I can say that two years ago, my art was that of a shoujo artist's and completely different from what I draw now. Mostly because I liked shoujo. Then it became more realistic-ish and shounen. Because I like shounen now more than shoujo. You're art develops without your own knowledge; it's a gradual change.
And, well, I haven't read through Rave Master completely, but I have seen the begining art and the ending art. And the begining art is completely different from the ending art, much more similar to Fairy Tail's. And considering how long Rave is, his art must have started changing somewhere in the middle. When he started, his art was very… er, crappy. But as he grew as an artist he learned how to draw things much better and more detailed and etc, and his art reflected that knowledge. You don't just change styles over night, they have to develop on their own. And considering how much free time Mashima has with his work (none) I doubt he was planning to suddenly change styles for a new series. It was a slow change, and just artistic development. Just because it looks similar to one another's art doesn't mean that it was inspired by another's art.
I mean, look at Oda's work. Compare his Romance Dawn stuff with his work now. Completely different styles because his art developed. Same with Fruit's Basket, or Inu Yasha, or Bleach, or FMA, or Clamp. If you draw for a living, you're bound to get better at it, and your style will change.
And, well, I'll be darned if there aren't characters out there that don't look like other anime's characters. Sesshomaru, Ayame and basic bishis for example. And Robin is that cool chick, and every other anime has one. And charas with huge top bulk isn't exactly very rare. Things are bound to look similar to each other, since almost everything in anime has already been done before. Don't read too much into it, it's just coincedence.

wasn't there on the list considering I have seen many manga/anime has JoJo references in it (Hajime no Ippo, Busou Renkin, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Trigun, Hellsing, Yakitate Japan, KHR!, Gintama, Chromartie High School, Arakawa Under the Bridge, Rosario Vampire, Ai Kora, Mayoi Neko Overrun, Taizou Mote King Saga, Negima!, Tenjou Tenge, Excel Saga, Lucky Star, Akagi, Air Gear, Mr. Fullswing, to name a few…). That's not included the game and American comics borrowed character design.

OP is not revolutionary in anything except maybe bucking most of the emoey overly serious trends in shonen of the 00's.
But that's so minor as to be not mention worthy.
Dragonball was revolutionary, Lone Wolf and Cub was revolutionary, Akira was revolutionary, Gundam 0079 was revolutionary, practically everything Tezuka did was revolutionary.
One Piece is not revolutionary.

The problem with labelling One Piece revolutionary is that One Piece doesn't bring anything new to the table, it borrows aspects from other Mangas and creates a great story, but there's no single aspect in it that hasn't been done before.
