Also, am I the only guy that liked Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel?
No. Awesome show was great.
Home Movies sucked though. It looked like garbage, sounded and ran like it too.

I'm confused you like Awesome Show but hate Home Movies when they're both on the the crap side of the same coin.

No, Tim and Eric are a class of shit all their own.
-
Tim and Eric is quite terrible. Home Movies is absolutely fantastic. Frisky Dingo, though, is god tier.

Home Movies>Adult Swim Live Action Shows
I want to vomit everytime I saw an ad for those Goddamn live action shows.
-
What LA shows does CN even have ? I did not watch it in like 5-6 years , cause I couldn't .
Teeny stuff ala Nick ?

You're making a broad generalization that doesn't make sense outside of calling both shows tripe-y.
C&C is slapstick, tries to gross/freak out the viewer and revels in its chaos and inanity. HM is like a lot of the [adult swim] ilk of comedy, I don't know the proper word to call it but I've always thought of it as "stoner" comedy, which seem to revolve around awkward situations and misplaced comments. I hate that, it's retarded. But it persists because [adult swim] KNOWS ITS AUDIENCE P WELL IMO.
Now, SG:CtC and Brak were funny. The fact that those shows are gone really underlines the demographic changes over the years.

More of the grand coach.
Also Home Movies was indeed a good show. If only for Jon Benjamin's voice.

Reviving a topic…
I just saw the sneak peak of the new Scooby Doo seires on YT. I have to say... This is probally thebest adaption I seen in years. The new stylke reminds me of one of the Batman series and the focus on mysteries was great. The pacing was a bit off but that's okay.
Anyone else seen it?
-
Yeah, I watched it a while back. Based on the first episode, it's a nice new spin on the original show that incorporates a lot of elements from the different shows that came before it. It's only the second Scooby show that seems to have an ongoing plot arc as well.
-
You mean outside of 13 ghosts ?
And it has Vincent Price doing the intro ,shut up :P
-
Yeah, I saw the review ep they showed a few months back. it was really interesting and I think I'm gonna follow this one closely.
Plus it helps to have the same character designer as teen Titans/ Transformers Animated!!!

Would've been nice had they not completely sent almost everything back to 1969.
-
From what I heard, its essentially the spiritual successor to the original '69-'70 series with darker mysteries and forgotten plot points (Velma was supposed to be with Shaggy, not with Fred and Daphne) though seems to mention other elements of the past. (though with the whole "mystery solving fad" mentioned, it does make me wonder if any other Hanna-Barbera "teen groups" will end up getting nodded at) Heck, even the new "Abracadabra Doo" movie I saw last night wasn't too bad…so maybe this could be worthwhile.
Aside from that, I've just been rocking along to Adventure Time...and ignoring a lot of the LA stuff they keep trying to pump out.
-
Hmm , so I don't supose we'll be seeing someone dressing up as Merlin or a random cyborg then ? :P
I do wish they brought back the huge ass wax monster . though , that thing was freaky .
-
I want to see them deal with an older version of Redd Herring! That was such a great joke that I totally didn't get until I was much older ^_^;
-
Plus it helps to have the same character designer as teen Titans/ Transformers Animated!!!
Suddenly, my interest was killed with a bullet to the old brain.
-
Don't blame me you got no taste. POW!
-
"It was….RED HERRING!!" I totally remember that from A Pup Named Scooby Doo. I've been wondering about how good Adventure Time really is. I haven't been able to watch it but some people I know say it's good and others say it's annoying.
-
I liked the scooby doo ep where someone was trying to frame Fred and make it look like he was trying to kill scooby on his birthday
Also adventure Time is ok, though I've never seen more than one ep
-
What's the preview episode of the new series called?
I need to know what to look up.
-
-
Jesus Christ, this episode was so, so GOOD.
I've never liked Scooby Doo of any form and adaptation including the original except the Zombie movie. But this…the comedy, characterization, story twists, oh so good. I might actually become an avid follower if it maintains the same quality and effort throughout.

Shaggy x Velma
i
what
well I'm glad this series is getting better, but I wish they had done this 10 years ago before I was totally sickened of it
when does that new looney tunes show start?
-
Shaggy x Velma
i
what
That was sort of set up back in the '60s, but was never really followed through on. Of course, the fact that Velma wasn't on most of the shows between The Scooby Doo Show and A Pup Named Scooby Doo didn't help matters much either.
well I'm glad this series is getting better, but I wish they had done this 10 years ago before I was totally sickened of it
Ten years ago was right around the best portion of the franchise's history since that was during the Zombie Island, Witch's Ghost, Alien Invaders, and Cyber Chase period. So they actually did try this back then. The main problem was that the live action films came up after that though and the series went right back to what it was.
when does that new looney tunes show start?
What?

Why do I know about the Looney Tunes Show but have heard nothing about this new scooby doo

Whoa, I think the new Looney Tunes show looks very promising. Nice to bring them back after that really bad "Looney Tunes: Back in Action"-movie and… "Loonatics Unleashed" shiver

Why do I know about the Looney Tunes Show but have heard nothing about this new scooby doo
I think it was supposed to premiere last year, but got held up for some reason. There wasn't hardly any news at all about Mysteries, Inc. until they showed the first episode a few months ago as a sneak preview.
http://www.cartoonbrew.com/classic/more-looney-tunes-character-designs.html
I'm not understanding the point of this. Not just on the level that they're arbitrarily redesigning beloved characters (we all know how well that worked out for Baby Looney Toons and Loonatics), but the way that they've chosen to do.
Some of the characters have been radically altered, but Yosemite Sam and Pepe look basically the same as they always have. Several of the others, on the other hand, have been given a Ren and Stimpy makeover. Compare Taz to a picture of Stimpy.
Bugs is too cutesy and Daffy too angular. Change the shirt and I wouldn't have known that was supposed to be Porky Pig. Rantrantrant, it's different and I'm old/unimaginative/hidebound and so on, I know, but this just seems like another attempt by executives to try and exploit a franchise without resorting to the simple solution of showing the original shorts.
-
Haha. This show (Scooby) is awesome. Has it premiered yet or was that just the sneak preview?
-
Taz-Mania worked because it had good writing and felt more like a "Disney" series (well OK, Scrooge had his comics linked to Ducktales but that wasn't the only show out there) where it expanded the world of a character than being just an utter reboot or redesign of crap.
Meanwhile, I may need to invest in the '69 Scooby series myself; it's been forever since I've seen it. (though admittedly as stupid as it was from what I read, I actually didn't mind the "Scooby Doo Show" episodes from the 70s)
-
The second episode of the new Scooby Doo airs next monday. The first episode that was the sneak preview airs today at 7pm.
-
@ Tokoro Ataru : I loved Taz-Mania . I liked that we got a far more sympathetic view of Taz then in the Buggs Bunny shorts .
-
The Looney Toons Show with the update designs are fantastic. I really enjoy how they kept them close to their original drawings, but only update what needed to be updated. The proporations are different, and a little awkward at first but will (easily with me; and hopefully for the nay sayers) grow onto us.
I agree they do remind me of Ren and Stimpy, that is mostly because of the proportions and the color inked jobs. But I think these are all updates that are different but in a good way. I think they bring some freshness from an tired series.
Though, what is up with everyone having a female counterparts. I mean I'm all for having some ladies int he cast so its not a sausage fest, but do we really need female Daffy, and female Porky. That and it looks like we are still stuck with Babs.
The new Scooby-Doo: Mysteries Inc, is exactly what the franchise needed. Going back down to its roots and taking things that made the original series such a huge hit, and then making the tone a little more mature. Scooby-Doo On Zombie Island the same, and it was probably the best incarnation of Scooby Doo. The only down side to the series is that Fred feels more like parody of himself instead of re imagination. Fred hasn't been portrayed that simply minded since A Pup Named Scooby Doo. That and I don't remember Dalphine being soo rich outside of A Pup Named Scooby Doo, though I know in the live action movies she did wear a lot of expensive clothes, I just came up wit the explanation that she had a credit card. But, I think the part that will make the series such enjoyable story is the over-all plot. I like the idea of the parents not wanting their kids to solve mystery because the monsters and ghost bring in revenue from tourism. It brings a much needed realism to the whole, random people dressing up as monsters to get what they want; and its more of the people are faking sitings of ghost and ghouls to help the city (and get some stolen good in the process). ~~~~ Another franchise I like, is the Ben 10 series. Granted its has a hundred plot holes, and coutinity errors, I found each series (besides the most recent) really enjoyable. The first two series had some really good pros, that made them enjoyable; while the later would fix what was wrong but added new problems the first didn't. Ben 10 the series was really good. I felt that the writing was strong with this series, the characters felt like they acted their age. If I was a 10 year old I would probably name aliens the same thing and probably would want to do the same things. Granted, that was the problem with the series. It was about a 10 year old, 10 year old are as annoying as fuck and Ben was too. His opposite, Gwen again being in character argued with him so much that it did get on my own personal nerves. But atleast the grandpa was a good enough character that it saved it. Another small problem about Ben 10 was I felt it had too many Villains of the Week episodes early on. Season 2 and 3 got better with more of the plots focusing on their main villians such as Ken and majority of Season 3 being intertwined into the Ghost-freak plot. Alien Force was good in the sense the writing for the characters got way better. The characters matured and became likable. Granted the series overall feeling changed completely and I believe that is because Dwayne McDuffie took over from Man-Of-Action. He kind of took everything he thought was good from the original series and changed what he wanted. In a way, that was great. McDuffie might've created a 100 different countinity errors because he wanted soemthing his way. It created a show that felt like teenage super-hero show. Though, later on in the series got weaker, because he ended his whole DNAlien and High Breed Storyline, and decided to do more villain of the week, with Vilgax as the main enemy. Actually the last season of Ben 10 Alien Force, kind became Ben 10 all over again. Vilgax again was the main antagonist, and the series return to the villain of the week method. Also, Ben, Kevin, and Gwen reverted back to their immature selves. For example, Ben because egotistical wanting fame for his super-hero work, Gwen just bickered with him, and Kevin became a monster again made up of multiple things (previously aliens, this time elements). What I read McDuffie just decided to give the fans of the original show what they wanted, it to be more like the old show; even though it was much better. I mention before that Alien Force had flaws that the first one didn't. I already mention the continuity, but I want to mention a few things about it. Why did the Plumbers change their symbols to match the Omnitrix's symbol. No reason, no explanation(in show). Another problem with Alien Force was the aliens. The original series had really enjoyable Aliens, they looked cool and we wanted to see them more and more. We wanted to know more about them and each week we had to wait to which alien will Ben use?! Alien Force created a new set, which weren't as cool. I don't know the reason why I don't like them. I think its the color scheme of all them next to them. Look at Alien Force, all their aliens are just different shades of browned Red and darkened Blue. With Echo-Echo, Goop, and Alien X being the only receptions only giving White, Green, and Black to the table. The original sets has grays, greens, oranges, blues, light blues, reds, yellows, and where everywhere. Sorry about ending this rant early, but I got to go!

I guess they did had APNSD in mind a lot and I don't mind if they use that as basis for the characters .
Because that show was awesome , and it made the usualy prety bland stereotypes from the 60's/70's somewhat funny and memorable . Heck it was the only "kidification" type show I realy liked (Flinstone Kids gets tolerated because of CAPTAIN CAAAAAAVEMAN) .
I mean having seen the original show dozens of times , I can honestly say I found Fred to be so goddamn bland and one dimensional , he didn't even have a gimmick. Daphne was "danger prone" (setting off traps) and Velma was the geeky person , Shaggy and Scooby were , well Shaggy and Scooby . Fred was just…....there . That's why I loved how in APNSD he was this overtly paranoid kid , who couldn't even be in charge of a hot dog eating contest .
I alsoloved how they made fun of him in the Johny Bravo crossover where we find out all he thinks about is sexing up Daphne . :ninja:
-
Fred's old perp was pretty vague. I always seen him as that redneck-type character that liked setting traps. His solution to everything was "Let's trap em!"(me and my sister always made fun of this). This time the perp is made more obvious and I loved it. There are some other vague perps that were made more obvious this time too. It sorta brings the characters to life almost.
-
I always found him to be more the jock person , he certainly does look like a football player , even with that inocent as hell face .
That's why the Johny Bravo episode made me so laugh cause it just suported my theory right on - with Fred just realy wanting to make out with Daphne and not giving a rat's ass about this "mystery" .
Anyways they stil use music in the episode itself ? (not meaning the intro)
-
Old Fred was boring as hell. New Fred is hilarious. He's a trap obsessed, clueless dumbass that gets all touchy when things don't go his way. Hilarious XD
-
Indeed. Back then, outside his "let's trap em"persona, he was just the casual flexing group leader that is seen as a jock. When you look at him, you have to wonder why a guy like that would spend alot of time and effort to create these physic defying traps, when he didn't seem to have much of a passion for it, until now.
-
Or why would he hang out with Shaggy or Velma .
I expected him to have lots of athlete friends of his own .
-
I was thinking why the hell did he make such a complex trap? Then it clicked, because he's a trap maniac who thinks the more complex it is the betterXD
-
I watched the new Scooby Doo series and abso-fuckin-lutely loved every second of it. The over the top complex trap was hilarious. It was pretty weird to see Velma so…..aggressive towards Shaggy. In fact, the whole relationship between them is kinda weird. Is it just me or did she seem a bit more arrogant than she originally was? It just felt so weird listening to her. I did like Fred a lot. His obsession over traps has made me actually like him for once. This is probably my favorite incarnation so far since the Scooby Doo on Zombie Island movie.
-
Not having seen it yet , all I can say is Velma is stil better off that way then the know it all geek or the silent , submissive type from Scooby Doo on Zombie Island .
-
Aggressive Velma is awesome. She's still a know it all but she's also assertive, snarky and mischievous which makes her a hot minx:D
