Someone's brought this possibility up in the past a couple times. Franky Family joining Galley-La to help rebuild.
It's a great idea, and very plausable, but alas, not new. ^_^;

I know that the majority is cheering for Franky but that doesn´t prove anything. If the majority would be cheering for Paulie instead it wouldn´t change the situation that I just go by plausible reasons. Just because the majority thinks that something is right it doesn´t have to be this way (I could bring some serious examples but I don´t want to bring the discussion there). However a couple of pages ago, in this very thread a member refered to the poll´s result as an indicator on who will join and I said that this is a very bad argument. True that I say Franky will join, but it is a bad argument. I prefer quality over quantity.
Well anyways I always go by what is plausible. Over the last couple of month´s I´ve made a lot of posts about this matter, not only this this thread but also these threads; Franky vs Paulie and New Crewmember Discussion
I mostly didn´t repeat here what I said in the other two threads but I can assure you that it was plausible and logic arguments. Besides that there´s still other fellow board members who make plausible arguments for both character´s Franky and Paulie to join. We should focus on these arguments in our discussion, no matter what our personal opinion on that matter is.I agree that there´s plenty of whack reasons mentioned already why Franky would join. But if you are fair then you have to admit that there´s also a fair amount of whack reasons why Paulie will join. In fact except for a little minority who is able to write down constructive thoughts, everyone else proves with his way of argumentation that they just think Paulie will join because they find him cool. Same phenomenon with Franky.
Personally if it is a matter of taste then I have no problem with it, but if it get´s to that level where subjective opinion is claimed to be objective, then it starts to get annoying IMO.
To come to the end, I always try to bring in logic and plausible arguments into the discussion and mostly focus on reading and replying to other logic and plausible arguments. And if you would check all my post not only from this but also from the other two threads (God help you if you do that
) you would see that there are over a dozen plausible reasons why I think Franky will join, while in all three threads the pro Paulie arguments are basically the same: "He´s a cool and funny shipwright and he is using ropes as a fighting skill". -

EDIT: I have to say though, I can't argue against yuor argument, other than saying I don't see why Iceburg and Franky can't have a heart-to-heart bonding moment and have the FF join up with Galley-La even if Paulie leaves. It's plausible that way, but I have to agree, even more plausible your way.

EDIT: You´re right, it isn´t impossible for Franky to work together with Iceburg as a partner for instance with a newly rebuilt Galley-la company. But it just wouldn´t be as plausible as the alternative. You´ve got to realize that even though they truly care for each other, they can´t stand being around together. It´s just like with Sanji and Zef. We know the relation between those two guys. But if Sanji would have remained at Baratie, then he and Zef would still be fighting with each other.
And somehow I don´t think that Franky would be willing to go through that again especially since he always was the Yang while Iceburg was the Ying. -

Well, like I said, my explanation is a possibility... if Paulie joins, it's what would happen. I do agree, though, yours is much more likely. Paulie still can't be discounted, though I'm in agreement that Franky is the more likely of the two to join. But while Paulie's chances are dwindling, perhaps, it's not over for him yet.

Well if Paulie joins, then what you say about Franky working together with Iceburg is a possibility. Either that or the option that he spent the 200 million on building his own company. :eek: But personally I still prefer that the money was used for a anti-WG operation. At least that would explain why the entire FF was ready to oppose the WG. It could be that this is the very reason why the FF exists in the first place.
And you´re right, as long as it isn´t set in stone in the manga it´s not over for any of the characters yet. At least to us. For Oda everything is already set in stone.

Either that or he is asking himself how we still concentrate on this discussion, while the more important questions for us at the moment should be "How will the Strawhats defeat CP9?", "How will Usopp and Robin return?", "What´s with the SH´s ship?", "Can the Buster Call be avoided?" and "Will we see the Gate of Justice get opened?".

i seconds Ivotas, cant wait to see how the straw hats beat up CP9, they must have a weak spot or something, hopefully we see something unique and hopefully brute strength wont be the only thing that can hurt them

The second aspect. While in this arc everyone the Strawhats, the Franky Family and Galley-la were suffering lots of pain, it is only the entire Strawhats crew and the entire Franky Family that is on the way to Enies Lobby. From Galley-la there´s only three guys riding the Rocket Man. Where´s all the other minor Galley-la staff that we´ve seen at the beginning of the arc such as the angel guy, the guy with the tattoo on the chest or the dudes that are larger then Tileston? I know they are nobody´s but aren´t the dudes from the FF besides Zanbai, Kiwi and Moz actually the same? And yet we have the whole FF heading towards Enies Lobby but just Paulie, Lulu and Tilestone from Galley-la. Kinda strange if you ask me.
Although the fact that the rest of Galley is not there to witness the fight is indeed a persuasive argument for Paulie not joining, I think that the Galley is bound. Iceberg himself did what he could to help the journey, but he, and Galley are a company (and he is the mayor) so that going with with wanted criminals to attack the government would result in the shipyards being shut down, a serious blow to the people of Water 7.

Paulie is too weak to join, he doesnt even go with them to fight cp9 while even usopp goes and franky is there also. there has been almost no character development for paulie but a considerable amount for franky. my guess is franky builds their next ship (which i think is almost completed if not already finished) and may go with them because he is sorta an outcast on water 7 and doesnt really have attachment there besides the mayor. i think the mayor has more of the role of tom while franky is not able to really build as he likes b/c he's supposed to be dead. if he leaves he will be able to chase his dreams (with or w/o the strawhats) while paulie has more attachment to the mayor and more to lose by leaving and less to offer the crew.

Oh boy, hell seems to have frozen over, but I guess I have to defend the Paulie supporters right now. Didn´t we have such a color spread in the Alabasta arc too? And wasn´t Vivi among the Strawhats too, while Nico Robin was with Baroque Works? I´m not sure I guess I have to check it again.
But anyways I love that color spread mostly because of the colors. So Zoro´s jacket is yellow? Wouldn´t have guessed that. Furthermore Lucci´s and Hattori´s jacket is gray? Wouldn´t have guessed that either. And Spandam has violett hair? Again something that I wouldn´t have guessed. Same goes for the Fukurou´s yellow zipper and green hair. Wouldn´t have guessed it. The only thing that I guessed correct was Nami´s and Chopper´s robe´s colors.
BTW, what kind of staff is it that Sogeking holds in his hands? My oh my, this is the first time that I was so exited towards the colors of a color spread. Can´t wait to read the chapter.
EDIT: It appears I was mistaking. There wasn´t any color spread like that during Alabasta arc. That thing I was talking about were to two covers from manga volume´s 21 and 22. There we saw Vivi among the Strawhats. But manga volume and chapter covers are different pair of shoes, so it appears that this color spread seems to be pretty final huh? Who would have thought that it comes that quickly?

Frrrrrrrrrrranky is my choice. Although, given Odachi's "logic", or rather the lack thereof, it may even be Iceburg. O_o (Though that doesn't really make myuch sense to me at all ^^;;; He's not displayed any power of any means, and he has obligations in W7 still.)

Well, as much as I would love to see Franky join, I still have my doubts. I mean I would be as thrilled about Franky joining as when Robin joined but with Oda nothing is certain.

I don't think I'm allowed to say what that spread made me do. But really, I'll still go with the Pauly supporters here. It's just that Franky has a greater fighting capability that he's there, I think.

Why, because CP9 handed his ass to him? That would make everyone of the Straw Hats weak by that logic… and it's the only real evidence that could lead to someone calling him weak.

That's not a drawing of Franky, dear. That is apparently the hypnotic regression drawing he did of the aliens who probed him. :D Luffy is hardly a great artist.
I seriously just like Paulie better. He's handsome. He's normal.
There's only room for so much weird on the ship. If they take on Franky, they have to put Sanji off. That eyebrow puts them right over the top. :)

Ok saying that it is not a drawing of Franky is among of the stupidest arguments in this entire discussion. Of course it isn´t a drawing of the Franky character himself. What did you expect? Do be a masterpiece picture that resembles the character himself and that Luffy says stuff like "This is what the new guy should look like! And I want for him to be called Franky!" :rolleyes:
It is a joke drawing however even in the joke there lies something more in depth. It is done by Oda. Do you really think that it accidentally looks like Franky? Last time I checked the terms coincidence and Eiichiro Oda don´t fit very well together.
Other then that the entire discussion reached the silly level. I´m sorry but Franky is clearly been labeled as a Mugiwara Pirate. I repeat what I´ve said in the other thread: When the color thread labels Blueno, Fukuro, Spandam, Kaku, Hattori, Lucci, Jabura, Calipha and Kumadori as Cipher Pol No9 then nobody questions it. When the same color spread labels Nico Robin, Sogeking, Zoro, Luffy, Sanji, Chopper and Nami as Mugiwara Pirates nobody questions it. But when the same color spread labels Franky as Mugiwara Pirate then everybody start questioning the authenticity of the spread. Paradox.
Seriously guys this arc is going on for over 50 chapters so far and in all this time the only reason why Paulie ever was considered as the new member is because of personal preferances from the fans towards the character. And right now the guy that has more then enough development to qualify as a Strawhat Pirate gets even labeled as one. And yet people reserve themselves. I´m sorry but now this discussion has left the level of objectivity. It´s subjective and biased.

I gotta agree with Ivotas here. Konis, how more official would you like it to be to accept that Franky is the new crewmember? That Oda write it over an entire chapter like this, with a letter per page: "Franky is the member!!"?!
But the fact is that Paulie still can join, I don't think someone has even said something against that, really.Old school lurker.

robin its not official until he acctualy joins so until luffy asks him and he acceptes it can never be considered official but this pic strongly hints that luffy will ask him later on in the story,
ive kinda gotten used to the Fact that franky is gonna join but this color spread sure as hell wasnt what swayed me.

if i continue on the comparsion buc started lets say there is a marathon and one guy is way ahead of the others(franky) but still is far from the finish line then you cant just say that hes won cause he hasnt yet he hasnt passed the finish line,
did that make sense to you ?
you cant say that franky has officialy joined until he has in the story been asked by luffy and accepted no matter how much it seems that its that way its heading(which i also think cause there are so many hints that point towards it)

how bout we agree on this? since franky is in the spread, he is considered a "nakama," just like vivi. whether he will continue on a journey with the crew or not, that's later.
