It's going to be a full blown One Piece game so I highly doubt any of the Straw Hats are going to be regulated to support characters only. Rayleigh as support makes sense, he's done jack shit fighting wise besides using a sword.

Usopp and Franky also seem to be assist characters, but I don't see why they wouldn't be playable. Don't count Rayleigh out just yet.
Maybe it's a system where you can assign playable characters as assists?

The game will be similar to grand battle
and it will be 4 players Action game
and They said the game will include lagendary pirates and the admirals
and there will be some secret movie for V jump July issue. -

Throw back to classic OP handheld games, now all we need is a throw back on the consoles and get us a PS3 Grand Battle 5. Tho chances are if that actually happened instead of giving us HD goodness they'll simply use the PS2/GC graphics and put it on the Wii.

Well, he has other attacks, but he's ALWAYS using hydra.
I can see him having like 4-5 attacks, and the easiest to spam is hydra. -

One Piece isn't as popular as Naruto or DBZ in the US from what I understand, so releasing it there means a loss in money.
Now we have the speed-up by Viz, so maybe we'll get the game.
Not that is matters that much, DS games are region free and understading what to do in a fighting game isn't hard. -
I'm doubting it'll be released in the US. OP just isn't very popular compared to Naruto, Bleach or DBZ. Lets not forget the rather poor sales the last OP game released in the US got.
Although might get lucky and have it released in the PAL regions. UC 1 and 2 did rather well so we might get a release.
Either way. Fighting games don't really need translating anyways. So this is an easy one to import and play without much trouble (over say, Dragon Quest.)

I more or less only used the straw hats in that game anyway. Hopefully It will be on par with Ultimate stars and Bleach dark souls. One piece is really shafted in the videogame department. Hopefully this will satisfy my need to punch Kuma hard in the face. -

They are defiantly redone sprites, they have a very similar look to Jump Ultimate Stars, but they're obviously custom, but well see a lot of similarity. I'll be surprise if DIMPS isn't the company working in this.
So far the main difference in the spriting style outside of the new characters and clothing is. The faces are smaller than before. They feel aged like they have in the newer animation. This is very mature style for One Piece.

I didn't see anything like that in the article (at the very least, the names of Mr. 2 and Mr. 3 should have been instantly recognizable), so I'm going to call shenanigans on that list. Plus, I doubt they'd reveal most of the game's roster when it was basically just announced (or, at least, this is the first concrete information that we've gotten).
