I love Leo's headbob right before his manga-shot cuts in.
I thought I was the only person who enjoyed that.
Was there an episode I missed of Star Trek that had a lot of slapping in it? They're… really not letting up on that gag.

IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is getting a new artist as of next month's #17, with Andy Kuhn handing over the reins to Ben Bates.
"Who is Ben Bates", you may ask? Not surprised if you haven't heard of him; he's pretty new to the industry, his first published work was last year. He's become well known to fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man comics series though, as he's worked on the two Archie titles since last year.
His style isn't as rough as Dan Duncan's or Andy Kuhn's, taking on a slightly more cartoonish look. But his lines, emotions and action dynamics are AMAZING. Want some proof of this? Check out his blog, this page with some TMNT sketches from last year, or this piece on his DevART page.
And here's his cover for #17
!
I read Sonic the Hedgehog, and I saw his work for the series last year. I'M SO EXCITED YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA.
EDIT: We also have news regarding the first TMNT'12 DVD release! Get your money saved up for February!
Ben Bates on TMNT!!!???
I effin love this guy's work! (geez I have to catch up >_< )

YES! I saw it mentioned online and did a double-take. Then I proceeded to fangirl like crazy, because I KNOW he'll be amazing on TMNT (and he can get away with a bit more here than with StH or Mega Man).
And yes, you do. I don't know where you are in the books, but it's been pretty freaking awesome lately. And considering how good the book was at the start, that's saying something.
The last one I read was Issue #5 and Michelangelo focus issue. Local comic book shot took a shit and stopped getting comic books around April. Owner recently retired and sold the store to some fans who are running it as solely a tabletop gaming store. I've fallen behind on TMNT, Ghostbusters, Transformers and I guess Soulfire (I have no way of knowing if it continued, aside from looking it up…which I'll probably do after this post). I can only keep up with Sonic and Megaman because Barnes & Nobles and Toys R Us carries them.

Ugh, that sucks. Hard enough to find a decent comic shop, but when that sort of thing happens…
Since you're that far behind, it might be in your best interest to go with the trades. Vol 1 carries the first 4 issues, so you'd need Vol 2 (#5-8) and Vol 3 (#9-12) to catch up, as well as the Micro-Series trades (Vol 1 has the four turtle Micro's and Vol 2 features Splinter, Casey, April, and a character I don't dare spoil for you). Vol 4 (#13-16) of the regular series is coming out in February, and all of the prices seem pretty decent from what I figure.
You also missed the TMNT Annual back in October, written AND drawn by Kevin Eastman. It's supposedly going to be integral to a future plotline…
Oh, and BTW, a new Mini-Series starts later this month; TMNT: Secret History of the Foot Clan.
…Seriously Conekiller, I need someone to spaz out with over this comic. There's a lot to spaz out over.

I've never read the comics before. I may have to.
I feel like there's certain things the creators would like to do with the series but can't due to the format. As a result, you end up with some very odd plotlines that probably shouldn't be in the show.
The most eye-rolling element in the show right now is Shredder's obligatory threat to his henchmen that comes at the end of every episode where they fuck up. Threatening that severe punishment will be coming for screwing up, and then going through that routine several times without the punishment occuring is just dumb. I wouldn't expect Nick to take the surprisingly severe take on things that 4kids did (see: Stockman, Baxter) in that regard, but at the very least you could write Shredder at someone who doesn't threaten in that particular way.
Also, not a fan of the Mikey characterization so far. Making him an idiot to the point where he actually screws over missions and causes other people to get hurt as a result is way too much. 2k3 had a much better characterzation of him overall I feel.
it is a little hyped, but I can see a younger brother being that annoying/ dumb. I think maybe it's the fact that they are all portrayed as being older, like 16-18ish. but mikey acts like he is 12-14.
@Zp1:

I've felt this way too. I'd be nice if Shredder did actually follow through on his threats to his subordinates (or at least see them be semi-successful in the future) or else things have the potential to get ridiculous. From a production standpoint, they wouldn't want to have to build and rig new models (and hire new actors) every handful of episodes cus Shredder needs new cronies.
It may seem like that at first, but I'm sure we'll see the Vine and Spider and Pidgeon and Monkey mutants again. no way they're gonna have one-time use CG models.
I was actually expecting shredder to keep his word actually, and have those two defunct and be anti-villains.
I really like 2k3's version of all the characters except Leonardo, granted I did enjoy the 2k3 Leonardo's "over the top" bad assery.
The 4kids series got away with a LOT though, didn't they show Leonardo, Ralph and Donatello die in that "Mikey goes to the future episode"? (I remember one of them not making sense though, I think Ralph got hit in the back with an blade? his shell was still in tact, but it still killed him?)
Haha, yeah this… I think Donatello got drilled?
Nick could surprise us with how dark their TMNT will get; they threw me for a loop with the whole 'bloodbending' thing in Avatar, as well as how they ended the storyline for the antagonist in Legend of Korra. It may not be as intense as all that, but we're only 10 episodes into an assumed 52-episode run; there's plenty of time for dynamics to change with Shredder/Bradford/Xever, and darker moments for the turtles to endure.
I've never read the comics before. I may have to.
Well, obviously I recommend it! XD It's managed to shake up the universe just enough to make things new and interesting, without alienating the old-school fans (too much). Casey and April are younger, but that doesn't mean they're dumber; I think they're my favorite incarnations to date. The group dynamic is a little different (especially between Don and Leo), but it makes sense in how things are in the book.
If you want to check it out a bit before investing, I put up a rough synopsis/scans of the first four issues at Scans Daily. See if it catches your interest.
Speaking of Turtle comics, guess what I picked up today~?
!
The old Archie!TMNT comics are being released in trades!! The second comic series I ever followed religiously (after Sonic), and one I've been kicking myself for ever getting rid of. MY CHILDHOOD! :D
And yet even if the reprints get all the way to the end with issue 70, its STILL going to end on the downer that was The Moon Eyes saga, without the finale epic Forever War.
Sigh.
i never mentioned, but a few episodes back, when shredder's 2 hench men mutated, I was so waiting for a new rocksteady and bebop. XD anyone else who was thinking this?

Yeah, but I'll get back the Future Tense, Black Hole, United We Stand, and Blind Sight arcs. God have I missed those stories.
Honestly, I didn't even get to the end of the book back then; my grocery store stopped carrying TMNT Adventures after #61 with the story of Turtle Island and the end of the Terracide/Blind Sight stories. It may be a good thing in the end (NOOOOOOOOOOO, MY FIRST SHIP), but I regret never seeing the whole series through.
And who knows, maybe by the time they get all of Adventures into trades in a few years, Forever War may be in sight yet again. The original problem was Peter Laird selling TMNT to Viacom; with it, Mirage couldn't print any TMNT stuff that didn't happen in the Mirage Universe. But now Viacom has licensed the turtles to IDW for both selling old books (hence the Classics and Adventures reprints now out), and creating new ones (hence the IDW book). So. Maybe.

I thought that too lol.
I'm curious why Bradford and Xever mutated into the Dog and fish, respecively. I can understand the "last organic thing you came in contact with", but they fought the turtles after interacting with those other animals. Why didn't they mutate into Human/Turtle hybrids then?

Maybe it only works if they came in contact with unaltered creatures. Or non humanoids.
I think Bradford looks too cute. Same with the spider guy from early on. I wish they'd make them look more menacing.
Yeah, but I'll get back the Future Tense, Black Hole, United We Stand, and Blind Sight arcs. God have I missed those stories.
Fair enough. I still have all the old issues and I never read them… so I take having access to them for granted, and easily forget other people might not have seen those stories an a while.

If only that was the problem. No, the problem is Dean Clarrin and Chris Allan lost their workman's ethic.
They said in early 2007, "We're going to do Forever War finally!" And then sat on it. And sat on it. Then in mid 2008 started releasing press releases saying "It starts in April 2009!" And then released a trade of the old timetravel stuff to hype it. And then in late 2008 went "We're reworking it from 5 issues down to 3!" And then sat on it. And sat on it some more.
And then in October 2009, some three years after the announced they were going to finish it up, was when Mirage sold to Nick. (And even then they had rights to keep doing 18 comics a year.) If they'd even hit their initial far off deadline of "April 2009" they still would have had seven months to get out three issues before the official final sale of the company.
And then it came out that "Dean Clarrain" was just a pseudonym for Steve Murphy, who'd been working at Mirage constantly the entire time. He did a ton of Tales issues and the Raphael mini-series and he just pulled out the pen name on the occasions Chris Allan was going to draw a story. (He drew three or four random Tales stories.) Granted, this was always a little bit obvious since "their" writing styles were the same. But he was with terrible artists in the mirage stories and they were set in a different world and mood and lacked the same continuity… so it wasn't the same.
Plus, he kept a turtle related blog for years and years, and could have at any given point tossed out, you know, a paragraph or two just talking about what would have happened.
From the time they first announced they were doing it, to the time they were sold to Nick, was more than 2 years, close to three. (And Peter Laird greenlit the project YEARS before they even announced it! But they apparently kept sitting on it and "needed a real deadline to get production going.") Even allowing time to refind a groove or clear out schedules, or to allow Chris to draw at a super slow pace to balance with his day job (bi-monthly?) or something... there is NO excuse for taking 2 years to create 3-5 issues. Let alone 0.
They don't have it in them to do the story anymore, and now its been nearly 20 years. It's... not going to happen.

finally fo9und the episode online if anyone else needs
Really great episode today.
! I really like Leatherhead's introduction into this series. The new series is making Leatherhead like he was in the 2003 series. We have some plot development with the Krang storyline with Leatherhead and the power cell. I'm getting a feeling that we are getting something like Dimension X in this series with the portal. Leatherhead's flashback was pretty sad. Splinter Vs. Leatherhead had some nice animation.
omg. so fast this week.lookie already.
http://dubbed-scene.com/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-episode-12-it-came-depths
yeah, this week's was really good. Leatherhead was much better than I was expecting. It was awesome to see Mikey not be a total moron about things, but being the moral center of the team. I loved how he continued to defend his buddy and that it actually payed off and not became a retread of the Bradford situation.
Splinter fighting Leatherhead was the highlight of the episode tho. The fact that he stood down while still in his berzerker mode spoke to just how thoroughly Splinter whupped him.
On a side note after watching the first volume, I hate to say it but the new show actually took some elements of this show and added it to show. Ralph in this version also has a pet turtle for an episode. Also Splinter is a lot more joking, and this was the first series to try and give each Turtle a unique look, though instead of size shape its their clothing.
The Next Mutation DID have Scott McNeil hamming it up as a crazy bounty hunter.
So. It had that going for it?
Otherwise, haven't seen it since it was on tv, and no desire at all to go back to it.
I actually spit my drink when I realized the hunter was Scott Mcneil, I didn't know what he looked like… but man did he ham up the Dinobot voice.
i can't find ep 13 online yet. T_T anyone else find it?
guyz. guyz. did the episode even air last week? episode guides said it did, but I never found anything online. And what about this week? The last episode I saw was leatherhead.
Yea, I'm kind of worried about me missing out.
I was actually expecting shredder to keep his word actually, and have those two defunct and be anti-villains.

I have that episode on one of my TMNT DVDs, it's one of my favorite. It's called "Same as it never was" It was Don who ended up in the future and it's one of the darkest episodes, along with "Insane in the membrane", another of my favorite episode.
Darkest parts of "Same as it never was":
! -A future world enslaved by Utrom Shredder
-Mikey missing his left arm
-Splinter being dead
-The turtles splitting up because Don dissapeared
-Casey being dead
-Leo being heavily scarred and maybe blind
-Raph missing his left eye
-Hun and Stockman being crushed to death by Shredder
-Mikey being killed by robots that look like Karai
-Leo and Raph being killed by Karai
-Karai being killed (with a Bazooka!) by April
-Shredder being shredded :ninja: by a giant drill after Don immobilised him.
And about "Insane in the membrane"? Let's just say that it was banned in some places because it was deemed too scary and gruesome for kids… Seriously, both of these episodes are on Youtube, go watch them!
Hmm…Leatherhead? I guess I missed an episode or two.
New episodes starts again on January 25th.
Well, cowabunga booyahkasha! I look forward to the new episodes…
The new episode was pretty great. The Rat King for this series is creepy as heck in my opinion. The entire Mikey poking Splinter scene was really funny.
http://www.watchcartoononline.com/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2012-episode-13-i-monster
OMG! Finally.
i can't believe April lasted that long.
I'm loving this iteration of Splinter more than any other more and more as each episode goes by!
Great episode tonight.
! I really like the Karai in this series so far. Both Karai and Leo fights were great in my opinion. I'm really like Karai's character design for the new series so far. I can't wait to see more of her in future episodes.
That Yellow hair dye looks so ugly to me. But all in all, a decent episode.
is that what that was.
Great episode tonight. I really like the character development on the Shredder and Karai storyline. The Leo and Karai stuff is getting great and the fight between Raph and Karai was slick.
That Yellow hair dye looks so ugly to me. But all in all, a decent episode.
Quoted, because well I feel the same way. If it was white, blue, red anything it wouldn't be so bad. But the Yellow just seems out of place.
This most recent episode had alot of really great little animation touches. I'm sure whoever storyboarded this one isn't a regular.
kinda like how they made Mikey look so boss when defending Raph when he was poisoned.
Other than that, the pulverizer was so annoying, I'm kinda mad that they didn't give him any character development, just felt like a waste of time and a convenient plot device to make them lose the power cell.
^ What Project said.
Unless a miracle happens, I'm boycotting this film. I hate to say that, but there's only so much I can take.

I thought Megan Fox never wanted to do another film with Michael Bay again.
