How hard would it be to create your own forum? Lets say something ran by Vbulletin or similar in style. Also how much would it cost?
Any other basic information would be useful.

Cheers Cinder, I've looked at a few reviews and It ticks all the boxes. Its going to take a while getting it all set up exactly how I want it but it'll be worth while.
Once its up and running I'll repost and show it off. Maybe even see if I can get some reviews to see where I need improvements.
In your experience how hard is it to set up and maintain?

I'm still going to stay on the forum, I just want to make another forum that covers less but more important topics solely by good posters. Its tiring to have to sift through tons of posts to find anything worthy of reading and to be honest the age gap between myself and lots of the new posters only makes it worse.
Also lots of the good old posters have disappeared leaving only a handful of intelligent members. Don't get me wrong though, I think there's quite a few new member that impress, its just that the intelligence to retard ratio is way out of balance. Even the mods appear to be too embarrassed to post in most threads.
In all honesty I would say out of the 4100 active members, only 100 of those members posts are interesting.
As for being an Ωmega, the whole pirate crew thing has been dirtied by these new members. I still hold all the Ωmega's as mates, but would prefer to contribute from the shadows for now
If the mods had a gold section only for those worthy to enter then perhaps we wouldnt have breakaway states. Its would even inspire members to make an effort in an attempt to be granted access.

I would probably have a 200 member limit, only allowing decent members to gain accounts. I'm guessing something similar to NPC, but without the overkill.
The hardest part would be a catchy name. Anyway I'm not putting all my hope into this, if it works then it'll be a forum filled with nothing but decent posts and worthy topics, if it doesn't take off then I'll just have to bare with it.

I was speaking about new forums in general. Mostly the kinds that are made by people who refuse to obey the rules of a bigger board with the same idea or are simply tired of the way it's being ran. Yes, I know what I am talking about. You are free to not trust me, but it's how things progress most of the time.
Sorry if you misunderstood my post SMUDGE, I wasn't trying to say you will naturally fail at making a forum, I'm just saying the start is always hard. And apparently you enjoy being a dickhead to people who try to give you advice, but right now I'm willing to take it. Getting members on your board will not be an easy task. Just so you know.

Depends on what kind of forum it will be. Arlong Park is perfect because of its focus on One Piece. What general focus or theme are you thinking of?

Something iconic. If Marineford, Mariejios(howevever you spell it), aren't taken yet, use one of those. If you want something pirate related, take a name of a good pirate group you like, or the name of a ship.
