Might need to download or rent those then. As for Oswald, well, you'll have trouble there.
Youtube has a couple of shorts. Even during his debut more than half a centure ago he was bringing the nightmare fuel.

seems like the disney world kingdom hearts should've taken place in…

@LC:
Uhhhh, I just had a 'oshit' moment.
I just realized that Mickey isn't staring down the Blot
Whoa! I didn't notice that until you pin pointed it. This game looks promising if it wasn't just intended for Wii users. I wonder how will you play it? The paintbrush seems to be the thing we will be controlling here. I hope there no portion of the game where you will need to find the Hidden Mickey

Okami springs to mind here…

Honestly, I think I'd be a little more interested in this game if it weren't for the fact that its called EPIC MICKEY.
Are you crazy? That's one of the AWESOME points!
-
Apparently, this may not be a wii-exclusive after all.

Starting at 4PM CST today we will unveil the first companion piece to the magazine: an exclusive video interview with Warren Spector about his relationship with Mickey Mouse
No thank you. I don't want to know about any grown man's relationship with 'Mickey Mouse'.
-
Mickey changed my life.
I was falling hard, with addictions to all kinds of drugs and alcohol. But just when I was at the end of my rope guess who was there? Mickey. He talked me down from that rooftop and helped me get my life back on track. So in return for how he helped me, I am going make a game about him.

ugh. Multiplatform games usually end up getting the short end of the stick on the wii.
-
Wait, THAT'S the premise?
Ooh, this is gonna be so awesome.
Took the words out of my mouth… So to speak...
...On a forum...
-
@LC:
Unless I'm mistaken, that was the reason the "Song of the South" movie has disappeared off the Disney radar and never spoke of again.
Nope it's not that (as the animated portions are easily available). Disney feels that all of the Uncle Remus scenes (while not explicitly stated, they ARE the slaves of the main characters) will portray the wrong image about slaves to children (since they are more like friends in the movie).
I find absolutely nothing wrong with them re-releasing the movie but Dinsey has said they don't feel it is appropriate to do so at this time.

Not "nope" but Remus' part plays a factor as well. The animated forms are only 'easily' available because of the age we live in where ancient VHS and TV recordings can be shared online.
Hell, they even removed tar baby from Splash Mountain. Next time you ride check out what Brer Rabbit gets 'stuck' in.
But I digress.
You can't even find the animated segments of the film over here where it's public domain.
-
It's sad, because "tar babies" have nothing to do with a racial slur… At least originally, anyway.
People are too friggin' oversensitive, I swear...
-

You referring to the "beehive"?
Because I remember that being there since I was 6.
-
You referring to the "beehive"?
Yes indeed !
-
HEY LOOK IT'S WII EXCLUSIVE STILL.

This game looks so awesome!
Curse it! -
It SOUNDS awesome, and the concept art is wicked. But it's gonna come down to a trailer, which may still be awhile.

The beehive was always there (since they didn't want the tar baby because of the negative connotations) BUT the animated segments are on some recent DVDs (Alice in Wonderland).
Wikipedia says that the Tar Baby was a guest on House of Mouse (which is a VERY recent show so…)
EDIT: Also, my grandma has this book (which is based off of all of the animated portions including the Tar BabY) and this was released AFTER Disney "banned" it.
-
LC Lapen knows where it's at.
Disney takes their best stuff and buries the hell out of it.
I'll never forget the day I called a video store asking for The Black Cauldron and they were like, "Uh….what?"
Are you serious?
that's just…....sad -
You know, I wonder if Mortimer mouse will be in this game.
-
You know, I wonder if Mortimer mouse will be in this game.
If I had to guess, I'd say he'd be there along with Clara Cluck and Horace Horsecollar. They seem to be semi-forgotten.
-
Clara had a semi-regular role in House of Mouse. Can't say if I recall Horace tho.
EDIT: you know, I think I'm confusing characters. I'm thinking of the female Cow character.
-

I honestly thought that he'd be the main antagonist but since I was reminded of Oswald the rabbit by people here and my friend who claims that his father met and spoke with Walt Disney.
But still Mortimer could play a big role in this game.

Horace was a semi regular on the Mouse of Mouse. He worked as the technician at the night club. Mortimer also appeared a few times on the show as well. I'm not sure about Clara Cluck but I'm sure she made a cameo or two.
If a one shot character like the Mad Doctor might be in the game I wonder if Rumplewatt the King of Giants might appear as well. He's the most menacing giant Mickey has gone up against.
-

You mean Clarabell Cow. She was always seen doing the gossips at House of mouse.

She did. One episode had her fall in love with Donald.

The beehive was always there
?
I never suggested it wasn't.
Splash Mountain was made well after the banning.
However, as it was based on the story where Tar Baby appears, they simply replaced it with a beehive from the getgo.
Also, my grandma has this book (which is based off of all of the animated portions including the Tar BabY) and this was released AFTER Disney "banned" it.
I read it many times in the doctor's office as a child. Doesn't make it less obscure. a lot of stuff slips through the cracks, especially in those licensed books. One way to check it would be to question whether it's still in production today.
Wikipedia says that the Tar Baby was a guest on House of Mouse (which is a VERY recent show so…)
i'm not sure what that show is, nor what being a guest on it entails, but I'd be interested in seeing to what extent it was featured.
Mickey: "Let's go to Tar Baby!"
Tar Baby: "…........"
Mickey: "I see, and why do you feel that way?"
Tar Baby: "..........."
Mickey: "Fascinating."
-
It's a show about a night club owned by Mickey and Donald that's filled with Disney characters from almost every movie, tv show, or animated short they've created. Tarbaby was probably just one of the many characters seen sitting around one of the tables.
-
Found the exact episode.
Title is "House of Scrooge".
Season 3 Episode 5.
I should download it (oh, and it says that this episode has other Song of the South characters too).
-

Other than a cameo with Pepper Ann in the first ep, the show featured strictly theatrical characters. I don't think they ever even had characters from the DTV sequels. And I sincerely hope they don't take anything from the show into consideration with this game, because it was essentially recycled one-liners for half an hour.

Here's a cool sped up video of one of the artists sketching a possible enemy accompanied by music from the game.

Aw.
Not as good as I hoped. -
Cellshade graphics would have been better for a game like this.
-
I really like how the choices you make in the game decide Mickey's personality, and that they're changing him form the sweet, innocent embodiment of good that he is in Kingdom Hearts and The Three Musketeers. This makes is so much different than most of today's popular role-playing games, it definatly stands out.
And I hope they use the music in that quick sketch video for the game; the sinister 1930's march with a touch of old Disney magic is exactically what I'd imagined for this kind of game.
The only thing left for them now, from what I've seen, is to improve the grapics and add more details.
Overall, creepy is a good direction for Disney to take Mickey. -
I like the models, but the backgrounds are too plain.
-
Gameplay sounds really good. Graphics aren't impressive from what you can see, BUT there's still one year of developement and obviously only one level shown ( perhaps the tutorial ).
-
It looks good, c'mon. Not as unique looking as I hoped for, tho. Why is Hades head on a robots body?
-
Where's the concept art backgrounds?
-
i like this already thanks for the link.
i don't understand why people are mad about this i knew the game will be like this but still isn't this freaking creative.
the story looks to be good and its about Mickey's origin's and such i love this game already.
also the painting and erasing has me sold as well as the 3D and 2d Platforming like how Sonic Unleashed had.
if there is any chance i am getting this game in reserve.
also Warron is right its Disney's fault that they made mickey well be like he is today its why he has been very negeliticed expect in Kingdom hearts but still thank you warron to say that to those Disney's excutives for once.
i want Mickey to come back like how Sonic is, and how Crash bandicoot is and how Chopper is.
-
I'll keep my thought to myself right now since this game is still an infant.
-
its werid how everybody is turned off by this i mean i feel i am in the minority who appracites what this game has going for?
i swear are people that really spoiled on HD graphics really or is it that these people want mickey to shoot people and be all muscler and ram other cartoon characters like another game i know?
-

To be honest, it lost me when Oswald was revealed to not be the Big Bad.
-
oh it still doesn't matter oswald could be controlled or menupliated by the phantom blot maybe its why he thinks mickey as bad but it depends on the player that if they want to help oswald or not?
i knew the phantom blot has alot to do with the game i wonder if mickey has a curse on him because i saw him oozing in that game informer cover?
