I'll admit to liking yugioh. Hell, I used to watch pokemon. Even though in Yugioh everybody solved their problems with card battles, it's more interesting than TOPS, fucking SPIN TOPS.

Here's something he wrote…
hah, s'cuse me while I laugh my *** off at you lmao. If you think that there is absolutly nothing real about 'a show with spinnig tops' that actually are real then what do you find real about one piece hm?? And another screw up: You said that just because the product is real doesn't mean the concept is real. Wel please get this through your thick head that the concept of Beyblades is real!! You think that they don't have tornaments or anything like they do for pokemon???? God what a dense little........
Watta loser... He wrote more, but this is the dumbest one he's said.

I am beyond words. I've seen my fair share of grammatical genocide, but this guy is… pretty bad.
And... Tell him, just for a laugh, that the characters in One Piece are well-defined in at least a few aspects... and that the show is actually INTERESTING. At least it makes you think. At least it has some semblance of real issues (Alabasta, anyone?). At least it's tolerable (I think it's excellent, but some differ in opinion).
-
Nice touch on mentioning Alabasta. The Arlong arc really made me think, y'know? It really gave complexity to some of the characters (specifically Luffy & Nami).

**Ha ha! I'll wait till he answers back! I'll even post some of your opinions to show him that One Piece is a much supirior show than Beyblade. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but the way he's saying it… IT'S WAR!!

Link us to the actual discussion.
And as a matter of fact I have seen Beyblade. Its the stupidest show Iv'e ever seen, and yes I've seen Stacked.
They spin tops in "arenas" and give tops commands, and the tops shoot lightning and shit….
Then theres the cast, who look like a family of Goku and a Treasure Trolls offspring. That all look alike (with different color hair and skin-tone. Some even wear hats!
They also embody the most blatant shonen archetypes I've ever seen.
-The heroic one
-the Vegata
-The smart rambling short guy whose eyes you can't see
---and so on...And yes its one big commercial.
-
http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.ph…849#post1488849
The guy is an idiot, spinning tops over PIRATES….
I hope somebody goes BLACKBEARD on his puny ass.
-
Tyson - Haha, I'm the main character of this adverti– show, I look exactly like Ash from Poke'mon only I wear my hat BACKWARDS!!
Tyson - My spinning plastic top is special because it spins. Oh and also because it has this unexplainible monster thing living inside it. I'm the only one that has anything this special living in their top. Unless you count episodes 5-900 when everyone and their grandmother suddenly has a monster living inside their top.
Kai - I'm Kai and I'm the guy who generates ackward silence 75% of the time. I used to the bad guy until I was asked to be a good guy. Then I became a good guy who was tinckering on the edge of being a bad guy. I think now I sell noodles.
Max - I'm blatently homosexual. Behold my cliche' past where my mother coaches another team of spinning plastic top weilders and neglects me.
Ray - I'm the White Power Ranger!
This show is just too depressing.
-
Holy crap… he didn't seem to want the arguement to die...

****Beyblade is complete crap. Thing is, there are people out there who'd never realize how interesting characters like the One Piece cast are… >.<
They say they like anime, but anime revolves around the characters, yet they'll judge on things like art, and such, or how "LOL L33T DBZ LAZER W/ CHIBI EYEZ AND TEH FRUIT KIDDYNESS" style it is.
I seen someone call Bleach utter bullshit compared to (haha) Pokemon. I know Shounen Fighting type manga isn't always complex or super crafted from character to character all the time, but Beyblade is a kiddy commercial disguised as an anime. And its better than the king of jump manga, one piece?
Meh, serebii is an annoying place anyway. They can't even play the game properly and they like the anime... I go to smogon.com for a pokemon board. even if they're a bit morbid with their sense of humor
**Meh I agree the people on Serebii are complete Tards. Heck I even knew this when I attended the forums at Pokemopolis.
I appreciate Shounen anime's and such because of character development and what not. Anime's like Bleach, One Piece, Shaman King, and Naruto are GOOD because they DO have all the elements of a story.
Beyblade is a crappy show. I mean seriously fighting with TOPS?! What's so interesting about that? Even pokemon is more interesting and I actually still LIKE pokemon. Heck even Yugioh is great despite it being all dueling and such. Beyblade isn't anything special at all. In fact I feel it's a lame attempt at advertising. Heck at least Yugioh HAS a story too it. Beyblade… well doesn't.
**Bleach rocks. Agreed.
That poor person. I'm actually worried for them, and I'm not saying this sarcastically or even comedically, like all other people on forums or journalists do in this tone. They don't sound like the type of people to relate to characters and therefore will have a hard time with emotional sympathy. Its a proven fact from my observation with people, actually. I was also like that before I looked at anime more deeply and changed elsewhere, though not because of anime.
Meh some people are like that though. Heck I once knew a DBZTard who told me that DBZ was the only anime in existance and when he saw me watching Princess Mononoke one day he watched for two seconds then said it sucked because it wasn't DBZ…
I guess people are more into action and bloodshed than actual storyline... Meh those people are idiots in my opinion. Then again I find anime's with no real story to be lame... though I find some to be great despite lack of story such as Yugioh, Pokemon, and Detective Conan.
Still I don't get why people like the action more than actual plot. I mean I get tired of people complaining in other fandoms about the characters "talking too much" heck the people who hate Rurouni Kenshin are like that. They only hate it because Kenshin's not killing people left and right..._

not a fan of pokemon but I know it has a big fanleading in Japan. Yugioh has a half decent story. Detective Conan I only heard bits and pieces about, but it sounds just like the sort of show that would have a good story.
People are, yes, ignorant and only care about action and bloodshed, usually. I won't deny it - I love action though I don't notice bloodshed. But I value storyline alot more, and in a different way. I know like 5 DBZtards x.x one saw me watching Shaman King once and called it crap because a good show doesn't need to be "too complex."_

**What's wrong with complexity though? I mean that's what makes a good story. Simple story lines are far too boring. That's why I never liked DBZ or YYH that much. If you're not really into all that intense action crap but more into good storylines then the seemingly intense action anime's are boring as heck.

I watched quite a few episodes of the dubbed Beyblade because there was nothing to check out in mornings, and I've always wondered how they can tell their tops to do what they wanted. I look at my sister and she looks at me and we're both going o___O??
I downloaded a clip of the original Beyblade that had Kai, who someone on KF's forums said it was the same VA as Luffy (they're not.. I don't think..) and, well, in a little Beyblade fight Kai got a crap load of tiger scratches on him, and was knocked out at the end because the opponent attacked his beyblade while he stood there with his arms crossed the entire time. Craazy..
EDIT: Go to beyblade.com and watch the video for the final round of their tournament. I have no words to express the awkwardness of how I feel ..?
Supposedly you either end up really hating OP or really liking OP. Or that the first 10 episodes mislead people. Or you judge it by the dub. Where did I read that..
But going back to the 4Kids dubbed discussion, I haven't seen You Dirty Rat yet, but I guess 4Kids thought that the changed march to AP was something they liked? Like what they did with We Are with English vocals?

Wow, a whole Beyblade talk and I wasn't there to say something about it. :o
Well, I watch beyblade. I can't see how people can compare it to One Piece in any ways since the subject is way too different. It's not like you're comparing it to Beetamon or some weird show. But anyways.
That episode was indeed one of the better ones. It seems 4kids are having more and more good dubbed episode nowatimes. I still would have prefered that they made Luffy grabbing the knife before Nami did any stabbity action, but I guess they were short on time.
-
Meh it's like for every 20 BAD episodes there's one good episode. That's a sad ratio to be honest.
-
Well, I never saw a Beyblade episode in it's entirety, but what little I did see I didn't care for. Mostly because I didn't quite understand why spinning-tops had specters coming out and still-frame-fighting. But I don't think we should bash it. Remember, it has been dubbed, and unless somebody has seen a fansubbed Beyblade, (I haven't) Then we shouldn't compare it to the character development present in the dubbed version. Remember, the character development in One Piece has been dumbed down in the dubbed One Piece. But that's my opinon on the matter. Anyway, we shouldn't be comparing any Anime to another. (Unless it's sequel Anime like DB vs. DBZ vs DBGT) Because each one has it's own rules and its own world.
As for One Piece, what makes it "real" is the development of the characters themselves. For instance my favorite character is Chopper. His back story makes his character real. He suffered horrible rejection and loss through no fault of his own. His crying is so sad and convincing (at least the sub VA), that it almost always makes me feel sad myself.
-
Ah, I had to miss today's episode because at precisely 10:30am I was in Austin warming up my ensemble for State auditions (which didn't really go all that great but oh well :3). By the sound of it I missed a good episode! I'm glad it was ok, I was worried about this one. :P (I would have been mad if I had missed somthing interesting like another hammer gun or somthing. x3 But I'm happy anyway.)
Beyblade vs One Piece. Isn't that like that Pikachu vs Eneru thing? Beyblade is one of those shows I watch to get a good chuckle out of the cliche-ness of it all. But to each his own. That guy doesn't even sound like he's worth the argument, really.
-
Heck just look at the music that played during the disbandment of the Ussop pirates. That wasn't sad music that would make you sympathize and tear up. That was friggin HAPPY music.
Yeah, that and the fact that they actually re-edited the visuals of the scene so they weren't really crying, either. That was wierd. <_<

**Haha, they probably wanted the kids to have a more dynamic and strong personality. (kinda like with Cardcaptors) Boys don't cry and all.
Re-editing visuals only to go with the music? I'm starting to think editing is cheap.
-
Hahaha! That's so funny! Evil-pika got banned over at serebiiforums. That's what he gets for bashing one of the best anime around, One Piece! Guess I won!
-
I don't think Beyblade is all that bad. It not the greatest anime around and I agree, its filled with anime sterotypes you've seen before in other animes. But it does have it moments and some good humor, personally only the final battles the character of the show get into are worth watching and some of the music isn't bad either (you have to admit, BB's intro is tons better then the One Piece dub). I guess the guy finds it "real" mainly casue the characters grow and learn from their mistakes.
Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the guy saying BB is better then One Piece nor his opinions on One Piece. Just that everyone, even a bonehead like him, has their own skewed opinions on these things.
-
Did anyone notice that this morning on 4Kids tv they were showing previews of their different shows such as Winx,Sonic,Kirby,Etc. Well sometimes they interupted the preview and started talking about the One Piece episode that aired in the morning. I wonder why they did that. It's not like this was One Piece's season finaly or anything, it was just a regular episode.
-
Eh. The guy seemed too dumb to be able to like complexity. I don't see what he saw wrong with it, but complexity is, yes, a good thing and makes an interesting story.

**^__^ Haha. Choppers my fave too. I actually cried 3 times during his flash back episode for different reasons each time. Hes very similar to how I was when more naive (around 2-3 years ago) even if I act more like Zoro around my friends now x.x but I was very similar to him before…
Chopper rocks ^.^; I love how he gets on with Usopp

Just saw the episode. Honestly, though there were some obvious cuts, it wasn't all that bad. It was just a really good episode in the first place. But I don't get why you guys are saying that Nami's VA is good. I think she sucks turkey ass. Not as much as "Stallone" Sanji, but still. I actually like Genzo's voice more than hers.
-
I agree. Nami's voice itself might sound good, but IMHO, she can't act for beans.
-
I'm not saying this is certain, but there's always the chance that the 4kids scripts change what is, for example shock in the original to just normal speech. In that case it's not that they can't act, it's that 4kids will have weakened the expressions for kids.
But that's just a guess really.
-
Just a note, the closed captioning was on on my TV when I turned the dub on this morning, and when the narrator guy said "Bellemere", the caption read "Bill Mayor." XD I was amused. I love crazy captions.

Hehe…that is kind of how they say her name in the dub. XD
Nami's VA isn't great...heck, nobody's is. Just compared to Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji, she's a step above. XD Sometimes I think she sounds a little too air-headed. As if any moment, she's going to say tsk Like, omigosh, Zolo...
-
"I knew from the beginning that it was trying to be aimed for like kids from 4-7 or something >.> on the other hand Beyblade has more action and is probably aimed toward a higher audience (at least I think so) "
Slams head into wall
Fuck you dub…Though....I really think the problem is this guy himself....

I agree about the Beyblade thing. It's basically a ripoff of the Yu-Gi-Oh! craze. When Yu-Gi-Oh! started getting popula, around the Duelist Kingdom arc, Beyblade came out with an even dumber gaming gimmick…Tops. Oh, but wait folks...theres more! These tops are controlled my magic spirits of monsters which oddly look like Gamera and Shenlong from Dragonball ripoffs. The heroes must use their tops to take down the evil villains who are gonna destroy the world...with tops. What the fuck?! The only reason that dickhead is saying GAY-blade is better than One Piece is because he's probobly a little 9 to 10 year old snot nosed brat who has every piece of Beyblade mercahndise known to man...and the only reason he has it is because he whines to his kiss ass momma and poppa who get him anything because he tells them "he thought they were good parents". I'll bet he's setting on his computer right now in his tighty whiteys and Beyblade t-shirt talking about how cool it would be if they came out with a new beyblade monster. Tony Tony Chopper was right....even Poke'mon's better than Beyblade. Actually I wonder what other dumbass "product placement" anime is gonna come out next and what dumb taglines the english release will have....

And what do u think they'll add on to the them song when they come in?
Chopper with his medical power
Robin swinging hand 50 miles per hour :P -
The sad thing is that Chopper is gonna sound like a New York Taxi Driver because his name is TONY TONY Chopper and with a name like Tony you just know he's gonna sound like that.
-
What if they made Chopper Italian or Arabian? :o or even Indian?
-
Nah I mean he'll probably sound like dub Iceman from NT Warrior and Iceman sounds like a Taxi Driver for crying out loud.

ooh I get'cha Aethos. IF they made Chopper Italian when he said
"PAss me the Medicine" it would be
"Pass me the Medichinni"
But he'l have a little girls voice or like a young gohan.
Or better yet.. BART SIMPSON!!!
