I downloaded by emule this strange OVa. If i´m not mistaken, this was done before the anime, and, let´s face it, it´s pretty bad…They fight against Ganzack, a pirate with a strange crab armor...well, it has every One Piece topic: annoying brat, bad guy trampling(sorry if this verb is wrong) Luffy´s hat, etc etc...It takes place before Usopp joins the crew.

And everyone had different voices. It was a strange oav. A different team animated it, I believe.
Nevertheless it was.. interesting, can't say I like seeing Luffy hold on to Zoro like that in the beginning :P
-
Luffy holding on to Zoro? I think I got to see this. ^_^
-
Ganzack and Medoka were Oda´s creations, weren´t they? I saw some sketches in OP volume 5…
-
All the extra things in vol 5 were concepts for the OVA I believe. This came out before the anime series.
-
I have it on VHS. It's an awesome collectible for any OP fan. Here's a synopsis on it.
ONE PIECE: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack
Original Video Anime for the Jump Super Anime TourBack in 1998 before the television series was announced, an short animated version of ONE PIECE was created to be shown as part of the Jump Super Anime Tour triple-header (along with a "Hunter X Hunter" and "Seikimatsu Leader-Gaiden Takeshi" OVA). For those that missed entry to the JSAT, Weekly Jump held a giveaway of a VHS copy of the movie in the beginning of 1999—all you had to do was send in the coupon, along with 500 yen in stamps, back to the editorial office. The problem with this? Overseas fans were gypped (as Shueisha doesn't ship overseas like most Japanese publishers), and if you weren't reading Jump at that time, you didn't even know they were offering (unless you read all the fans jumping up and down on the ONE PIECE websites in Japan). I luckily found mine at a comic store around here that convientiently sells hard to find anime stuff..for the price of $20.00. (Bascially a whole $15 bucks more than the original release in jpane but I didn't care)
Perhaps as a means of telling the original side-story to those that couldn't see this film (and couldn't get the video), a novelization of the movie has been written, and has been published under Jump's fiction novel line, JUMP J BOOKS.
Here's the details about it:
Jump Super Anime Tour OVA (VHS)
One Piece: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack
Contains an original episode created just for the Jump Super Anime Tour before the anime series premiered.Synopsis:
One day, when Luffy, Zoro, and Nami were starving on their little boat, they are attacked by a long-neck dragon. The dragon wrecks the boat when Luffy bites into it, then takes Nami back with it. Meanwhile, Luffy and Zoro wash up on the shores of an island where Pirate Captain Ganzack is using the island's inhabitants as slave labor to complete his base and ship. There, Luffy and Zoro meet a girl named Medaka. Together with the girl, they infiltrate Ganzack's base and promptly, as they always do to villains, kick his ass.
I'll try and get a scan of the VHS cover up too.

cant wait to see that pic….this just makes me more curious!
-
Is it subbed?
-
Mine is subbed in spanish…i guess it´s in english somewhere
-
If you can, can you host it up somewhere? I wanna watch! :D
-
I can´t, it´s about 100 megas and i don´t have a website or something…try writing one piece ova in the emule, i think there´s an english sub
-
you can use http://www.yousendit.com/ to send the files :D, its really useful >_>
-
Hmm.. I'll try uploading it in yousendit. I downloaded the english sub. I'll upload it if it's allowed, I mean.
-
Thanks, cinder, if that doesn´t work..i´ll try it
-
Ok, upload is finished.. but they renamed the file so it looks kinda funny.
OAV: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack! (about 180mb)
-
You rock Cinder, thanks alot! Gonna be weird with just the original trio, especially no Usopp.
-
Hehe no prob :P Thank you~
The only problem I have is that it's in poor quality, but I don't think you'll find any higher quality version with Eng subs than that. Anyhow, yep, it's just the three of them, with different VA's :o
-
Initial thoughts.
Seiyuu's were ok. Zoro's wasn't nearly as gruff or serious as he needed to be. Just sort of casual, nothing destictive about his voice at all, probably goes for Luffy too.
Animation: Was fairly solid. Source quality obviously low, some audio sync problems too.
BGM: For the most part lame guitars riffs, something like you'd hear in the FUNi GT dub.
Story: Annoying kid in an armor suit, some crab pirate, didn't really pay too much attention to the rest. :P
-
Sweet ! I only had the first three minutes of this downloaded before. I know it sucks but I fall hook, line and sinker for rare shit like this, so whatever.
Shinigami - I know K-F's been looking for a way to get some kind of HQ version of this up somewhere. I've done VHS rips myself and I know it's possible to get pretty quality stuff off of it (obviously not totally clean like an original DVD, but I seriously doubt this is going to be released on DVD anytime soon  ) - have you ever looked into a VHS to DVD rip so that you could send it to them ? I KNOW the quality of this file I'm downloading atm is pretty damn shitty and I think practically anything would be better than that
EDIT - this is what I mean (took me a while there @_@):
This is a definite lq rip, this is MUCH better quality (and on that second shot, I can personally vouch for my X-TREME VHS ripping skills; the sound is perfect  ). I know you can't get an absolutely clear VHS rip but even still, anything's better than that lq crap.
-
Hey man, thank you for uploading it! Nami's so cool undercover that I kept on replaying the part that Luffy stops her and she takes off the mask :D
Luffy and Zoro are hilarious when they are struggling in the water
-
I loved this. While the file sucked ass, and the translation was a bit off (ありがとう="Monkey D. Luffy"), the content was great. The animation and colors were much better than in the actual series, and the voices kinda fit, though, not as well. Luffy was a bit of a wuss, but hey, that's what happens when Oda doesn't write it, I guess. p
-
The file is no longer available at YouSendit… Could someone kindly upload it again or point me to a direction where I might find it?
-
I feel the same way. can someone do that?
-
Forgive me for revival, but I left the upload on over night, and finally, finally it didn't crash and the link to the OAV is available again.
-
**OAV: Defeat the Pirate Ganzack!
About 180mb. Subbed by GDL, low quality source, a bit of audio/video not matching up for a few minutes, different seiyuus, different animation company (I think it was the different animation company), the original trio, little kid in armor, and an angry pirate dressed as a crab who hates getting insulted. There you go! bows**
-
-
Thanks, Cinder!
Surprisingly, the different seiyuus fit them rather well. The drawing leans bit toward what I've come to regard as the more basic anime style, and I prefer OP style. The animation is more ambitious than what I've used to with the actual anime, too. All in all, a cool find.

Isn't Zoro's voice actor the same VA for Onizuka, Jango (Dance Carnival only) and Bellamy?
-
Yeah. Didn't even notice him as Onizuka, though.
-
Link please?
-
i want to download it… but it's about 180mb.. NO WAY!!
da## my poor net connection!!!i hope someone give me a direct link... so i can resume it...
haah... -
Hey anyone got the One Piece OVA special in Avi instead of the yousendit crap
-
The one on yousendit was .avi…..
-
um…could someone upload it agen please? The file isnt available on the link. Thank You.
-
I bet people get tired of hearing me say this. Oh well.
If anyone wants the OVA, come onto IRC and I will send it to you, fast.
-
I saw it awhile ago. Basic OP but still pretty fun, didn't mind the girl all that much. Truth be told it was actully pretty interesting to see her throw herself into danger like that, heh. I always love early animation like that, very smoothlike. Of course being an OVA, I'd expect nothing less.
-
Does KF have any plans to sub this in the future sometime? Would love to get a good sub of it.
-
Is there any site to download it from? Cause By time im online the yousendit stuff is expired….. -_-
-
Does anyone has screenshots of this or a place to download it?
-
man it expired i wanted to see it
and yeah does kf have any plans to sub it? or not -
Mirror 2 failed on me, will try again later. '_' / Have fun with it~

-
Aww I can't download it anymore:(
-
Can someone re-upload this, please?
-
I guess that's my cue if 5 people would like to see it. I'll leave the upload on tonight, I'll edit this post when they're finished.
-
I'd love to see this ^^

Where is the upload link, though?

Why don't you create a torrent and ask someone to help seed it? You could perhaps ask the guys over at K-F for help.
I'll try to help seed.

@SuperUmagon:
Where is the upload link, though?
god damn people just WAIT, he said he'll edit his post when they're uploaded, just chill. Posting a bunch of "OMG WHEREZIT?" posts isn't going to make it appear faster
