@Zik:
Also I don't even get why Hancock is stalling. If I was her in that situation where Luffy must die so her secret doesn't get out I'd order all of the amazons on the island to kill him. Whoever brings his head back gets to be a kuja pirate and I dunno have sex with a man on their next journey…....
There's no way Luffy would survive that without help so problem solved.
It's typical manga (especially shonen) to have this "lack of common sense" aspect. In pretty much every shonen, there will eventually be a situation where the antagonist has the upper hand and has the protagonist cornered, ready to deliver the final, fatal blow. But he would just stall, mocking the hero, laughing maniacally, taunting and gloating, and when he FINALLY decides to deliver the strike, some miracle (that was impossible to happen before that very second) would happen. The hero's friend swoops in to save him, an earthquake suddenly happens, etc.
I used to dwell on these situations too much, and I find it just frustrates me if I keep focusing on it. So I just let it go and accept them, knowing that this will most certainly happen again in the future. That way I can enjoy myself more. :)
