Hey guys, know the best thing about Blackstar's FUNi dub voice?
vK3SApJHNFM
…Neither do I.
-
best manga
i hope black star gets trashed
-
I like Team Kid's voices though.
-
New chapter of Soul Eater in Mangafox. Don't want to screw it up, so I'll talk about it later, after other people find out about what chapter is about
-
Tsubaki sounds manlier than eunuch Black Star.
-
I actually don't mind Black Star's voice all that much. His Japanese counter part sounded really annoying and high-pitched too, so I don't really see a difference.
-
Yeah, but at least japanese Black Star doesn't sound like he has a poon the size of Oprah Winfrey.
Not a poon the size of Oprah Winrey's poon, mind. A poon the size of Oprah Winfrey.
-
[hide] Oh Chrona ;-; What has that bitch Medusa done to you? D: Kilik, Pot of Fire and Pot of Thunder were bloody awesome in this chapter!
Aweeeeesome! :D
I have to learn to read Soul Eater slower. Dx I run out of pages to read, too quickly.[/hide] -
I dare say, Pot of Fire and Pot of Thunder need to be Chrissified!
-
the real test for funi will be if they can pull off chrona and ragnarok
-
Have I been reading too much manga of does black star sound a BITCH in the dub?
-
seeing the fire and thunder twins in the adult state was cool, looking forward to black*star vs. crona

New dub clip containing Kid, Patty and Liz:

that is so funny.
"even your boobs are different sizes!" Whack!!! "EXCUSE ME FOR BEING SMALLER THAN MY LITTLE SISTER!!!!"
that line cracks me up.
i can't believe that funimation is dubbing this.
-
Kid…I might be mistaken, but sounds like the same person who did Siam in One Piece. Who was that again?
-
Ugh, am I the only one who can't stand Jaime Marchi? Every role I've heard her in, it sounds like she's talking through her nose. (Miss Valentine, for instance)
-
And now for something delicious:
apzgClzK-7w
AzEaGghX3Uw
John Swasey has some sick range. Also, Episode 3 and 4 are up on FUNi's site as well.
-
Its astounds me how intent Funimation are on letting any of there properties escape the USA. Needless to say I can't view the videos -_-
-
i picked up SE recently and after 67 chapters of unpaused reading pleasure i'm up to date now and wondering how good the anime is rated by you guys and if it is mostly canon or some alternative reality crap (or goody, depends on its quality) like FMA's first anime tryout.
so, worth watching?
-
It's canon until episode 36 where it goes on its own tangent.
-
so is it a good anime adaption or is it better to stick to the manga only?
-
The anime is definitely at least worth seeing, as the fight scenes, music, voice acting and a lot of the show is definitely spot on amazing. BONES didn't halfass it. It's not quite my cup of tea after it starts veering, but before that is something I'd recommend anyone check out.
It's got a lot of style, and seeing a lot of the characters animated is a big draw. Esp. the interactions between Medusa and Stein, the Black Star vs. Mifune fights, and the Chrona fights are pretty awesome.
-
Thanks for your opinion, i guess i'll take a look at it sometime then.
-
I just got into this series, and I have just have to ask: Does Medusa strike anyone else as a simple, yet complex villain? (If you'll pardon the wording).
The Simple Parts: Doing what she wants, has a very clear goal (experiments), being very honest with her feelings (her confession to Stein still surprised me) and yet I can't be the only person who cried 'BS!' when she said she was trying to rescue Chrona in the Baba Yaga arc.
The Complex Parts: She sold out her sister to her enemies as her kin did, yet she works against them, she loves her research with black blood and its relation with the Kishin Asura, and yet when she reveals that she wants to kill him, she seems…kinda solemn (I don't remember which chapter that was, though).
Pardon me if I missed anything or got something misinterpreted. -
I don't think the author intended Medusa to be "complex", given SE's writing level. She's pretty consistent in being extremely self-centered, caring more about herself than her immediate family.
-
Classy. Way too classy.
68 gonna be one mighty chapter. -
so is it a good anime adaption or is it better to stick to the manga only?

Yep. Still awesome.

Okay, so I went and bought the first official English volume of this series, knowing nothing about it but having heard good things about it, and I must say it ain't half bad. One thing I must say though is that I didn't expect it to be so fanservice-y (not that I'm complaining mind you). But yeah, the characters are good (they're very cooky and funny), the story is good, and the art is good. It hasn't totally wowed me yet, but I'm guessing/hoping that it gets even better future volumes.
One thing I'm a little confused about though, and perhaps you guys can help me, but in the first chapter (after the three prologue chapters) Shinigami-sama states that Black Star and Maka and their weapons haven't gained a single soul. But in the prologue chapter we saw that Soul Eater had consumed 99 human souls, and even if we don't go by that chapter he was seen eating Rasputin's soul at the start of the same chapter. Is there something I'm missing here or is it explained later or what?
Oh, and the Funi dub looks pretty good.
-
Soul can only become a Death Scythe if he eats 99 human souls and 1 witch in that order; otherwise, they lose them all. (Basically, Blair screwed them over, being a cat and all). The English translation may have been vague, by the sound of it.
As for Rasputin's soul not being counted, I didn't catch it, and I'm assuming the author didn't either, really.
Oh, and yes, the series only gets better (wait 'till you go past the anime, although it managed to get a large chunk of my favorite parts). -

Oh, and yes, the series only gets better (wait 'till you go past the anime, although it managed to get a large chunk of my favorite parts).Yeah, I'd heard about the 99 souls and 1 witch soul in that order rule so I figured that was probably it. And if Rasputin's soul was just a mistake, then…well, I guess I can forgive. Anyway, I've got the English volume right in front of me, and I'm at the scene where Shinigami-sama is talking to Maka, Black Star, and the rest after asking them what the duties of a meister and a weapon are, and he says, and I quote...
"But do you know how many souls you've collected so far!? ZERO!"
The way he says it it makes it sound like none of them have ever collected a single soul during their entire career, although Maka and Soul were, at one point, one soul away from fulfilling the requirements. Oh well, it's not a big deal, it just struck me as a little odd. I of course intend to continue reading the series.
-
eating rasputin's soul was obviously soul's dream
seeing as he wakes up on the next page

Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh.
…Well that's kinda dumb. I mean, the transation didn't seem that clear to me. Plus, there was a colorspread in between them. Oh well, at least that explains it. Thank you.
-
Oh.
And here I thought they just jumped to the next day.
Also, I know it's a little late, but in that last chapter…is Ragnorock wielding himself? If this keeps up, the duo will be more Ragnorock than Chrona. -
I just started this series on a whim. I read the first part of chapter 0…. I wasn't impressed.
Then I saw Black Star.
I'm currently on chapter 27 and I'm loving this series.
-
That's good to read, hope you're taking your time reading it, waiting a month for each chapter is pretty lame, I sort of rushed reading the manga after the anime finished and regret it.
that said, new chapter scanlation: http://reader.sugooi.org/?m=Soul+Eater&c=68&p=0
Since it hasn't been posted yet… pretty good chapter.

Spoilered just in case:
! Good chapter, although when I predicted what Black*Star's 3rd 'sword' was, I thought I was just being juvenile.
Also…'stabilized insanity?' If it wasn't for the fact that Chrona seemed to demonstrate something to that effect, I would've called that an oxymoron.
Oh, and...whatever gets Medusa out of her bind, it can only be a surprise.
...Or more snakes. Either works. -
! Black Star mentioning his third sword did actually get a grin out of me, he's been so srs bsns lately compared to the beginning of the series that it did actually catch me a little by surprise that he made a comment like that. The follow up of more teasing over Chrona's gender was amusing too.
! Also I'm trying to figure out just what the page with the giant hand means though, I understand that it has Medusa in the background with the guillotine, but I can't figure out if it's to do with how she got into that situation or if it's just artistic. -

I thought it was Justin's hand, now all merged-with-clown-ified

Ahh As awesoem as it was, most fans will coem form Anime, they messed up the anime by ending ti so fast and leavign out so much like they did FMA, FMA was lucky and the aniem had less cut-to-the-points.
The manga, yeha that is great, it's hard to keep into now because it's a montly updater, but the manga is awesome. Prttyful style too.
The anime ended too soon. The whole thign could of been lengthened out at the begining but they wanted to speed through to the importaint parts I guess.
SE has great characters and a unique idea, it's a shame that it won't last long up at the top 'cause once the dub is over only half of the popularity will g to manga, the rest will forget it, that's the problem with filler endings.
-
wtf happened at the end?????
-
! Medusa has met her Perseus.
-
Last two pages: Fuck the heck?
! I find it very hard to believe that they would have a Save Medusa arc, but I've seen stranger things. I agree with whomever said it was Clown Law acting as the guillotine for Medusa, with (maybe) Crona as the one with the bloody hand. I dunno. But that is quite the cliffhanger for next month. Jeez.
! Also, its nice to see Black*Star keep on kicking ass and taking names like its no sweat. More please. -
I'm sure everyone's read it at this point so I won't really bother with spoiler tags. But one thing I like about this chapter is that it wasn't two even forces fighting, it was a pretty important fight, but it also wasn't a right out slaughter or a fifty billion chapter long even match, Black Star pretty much had it under control the whole time, but he didn't get in a one hit KO or anything. I like that Soul Eater has some middle ground there in fight lengths while most other Shonen I've watched/ read only go for severely one sided fights or long winded evenly matched fights that just go on for ever.
Hope that makes sense, basically I find it's easier to contrast who's at what level of power when every fight isn't evenly matched or an outright slaughter, this chapter is proof that a fight in between those grounds where one side has the constant upper hand and wins the fight, but the other side still poses a threat can still be very entertaining.
Also I hope that they'll do a new season of Soul Eater anime at some point in the (probably) distant future, probably once the manga has finished with the canon ending, they have a lot of good content to work with here that would really look superb if animated. If they can do it with FMA hopefully they can do it with Soul Eater.
-
Yeah that ending was weird, but in a cool way.
-
Once again black * star is the shit and justins "clown" of execution at the end was fucking awesome. I hope medusa dies never liked her. Also where the hell is free?
-
more like black star is shit
chrona forever
