But Miyoshi was awesome as ever (got more panty shots, are you happy, boys?), and Fukuda's still kicking around. I like this.

Gave me such a headache trying to translate that.
One manga's not good to use, because there were a bunch of TL errors that'll be fixed in the v2, or you could download sleepyfan's version but mine I tried to make closer to how it was written in the original version. Plus they had errors too. They didn't get the "Code Geass" joke at all and a couple other things…
And I'm not doing that every week, I just wanted to get it done once and finish it well at the end, so I redid it till it was all good. It's an insanely hard manga to translate and is reaaally long.
Haha, Hattori is awesome. He had it all planned out. And Miyoshi is by far one of the most vibrant manga characters I've seen. I knew Saiko and Shujin would get back together. It's just not a series without them together.
Also, what really made the chapter for me was Miyoshi's comment at the end. I dunno about you guys, but people use "LOL" after every sentence or as a response to everything are fucking annoying…
All around a very good chapter. Hattori was good, the dynamic duo was good (I can't wait to see how their "payback plan" plays out) and Miyoshi, despite the fact she was only in the last 3 or so pages, was just spectacular as always. I liked the ending, it had real "feel-good" feeling to it.
Well, "lol" isn't so much literal. In Japanese it's just putting the kanji for laugh/smile in parentheses, which has the same meaning but is less annoying.

Oh, I noticed that "Guard Geass" thing. I wasn't sure if that was coincidence or not.
A lot of the made up stories are knock offs of real manga. Sleepyfans missed it completely, they translated it as "Guard Gears" or something. But it was "Code Geass" with the first kana changed from "ko" to "ga". There was a previous chapter with a manga called "Double Earths" which was one kana awayfrom "Double Arts" the shonen manga that got canceled after going a while last year, or two years ago, I forget.
I'm making sure the Akatsuki guys put the notes in this time… the typsetter really isn't good... I'm having to keep telling him to fix things...
Though they did a much better cleaning job than SF, and I did a more thorough translation for this chapter, but I'm not doing that for now, because it's waaay too difficult.

Glad they're back together. The moment where they realized they were still on the same wavelength and just laughed like idiots… i dunno.. it felt really genuine. Its refreshing to see the conflict resolved when most manga would drag something like this out for a couple months. (lol i suppose it was about a month in Bakuman's timeline though).
I also like how they pointed out how Hattori's plan would only work well for a manga storyline. Nice joke there.

^I actually felt like the laugh was the cheesiest of the whole thing. I am glad they learned their lesson with the pacing, though. Everything moves pretty quickly now.
I could easily see the next 6 months being covered in a single chapter.
well it was cheesy, but that's cause they felt like morons. They had spent a whole month in their conflict only to realize that it was pointless.

It's the picture for the cover for the second volume of Bakuman. I got the picture from mangahelpers. Its cool that Shujin has all three of the latest volumes of the shonen trinity, and its incredible that it shows the complexity of One Piece's cover instead of a simpler to draw Bleach cover.

That, and it just screams Obata to go with the most detail possible. (not to mention OP being the most successful of the three in Japan, which goes into their dream to write the #1 manga in JUMP)
Edit: Oh, and I just love how the two covers he chose shows the difference between OP and Naruto to a T. The Naruto cover is the one with Emo-Sasuke doing his best Angst-Scream
, while the OP cover is the Strawhats (plus Rayleigh) having a party. Classic.
OP also had a cameo on the first volume cover I believe… though that was due to it being on the spine of Jump last year.

I think it's moreso because:
1.They're Jump series
2. The boys are doing Shonen fighting series research. I think OP and Naruto are outfront in the pic because their clear leaders in popularity, not personal preferrence or anything…From what Oda-sensei and others have said. Mangakka don't have too much time to read other people's manga. I wouldn't be surprised if they only follow one or two manga IF any.
Totally agree about the covers.
OP looks full of life and style and energy with their cover. Naruto looks really over the top with the angst and "drama" while Bleach just looks plain and gets overshadowed by the other two.
That book store looks exactly like the Sasuga(sp?) one we have here in the Asian market/mall place in Chicago. I've paroused their shelfs upon shelfs of untranslated manga just like in that scene. Even the setup look identical.

Well, Sasuga must be pretty good at mimicking the average Japanese bookstore, because that's exactly how they look in Japan. Right down to the stacks of manga in front of the shelves.

That cover rocks hardcore. I was surprised to find out this series was still going though- got up to like chapter 10 a while ago and then noticed the current chapter on onemanga and caught back up. Glad to see it's still going strong; always thought it was more of a niche series that would get axed.

Comic Party was even more niche and it did really well.
But then again, that was partially otaku/bishojo so maybe that doesn't count.
I think it being the Death Note team is definitely part of the reason this is staying afloat.

Miyoshi was cute and she led to the funniest thing I seen all week. They show off the manga and it looks like their close to getting it serialized.
Is there any news of an English adaption?
Nah. It still may not happen, but I'd be surprised if that was the case considering the massive popularity of Death Note and Bakuman's decent amount of success in Japan.

I almost expected them to wait another chapter until they went to the editor with their work. Thank goodness I didnt have to wait! It was nice to see them finally lock in with a good concept and genre and even convince the editor with their work!

I'm digging the subtle hints of Azuki being exploited starting to become more apparent, i'm very interested to see how that goes. Her producer looked like a straight up scumbag.

I noticed Miyoshi falling into that cliche too. But she's still awesome regardless. Besides, changing her dream at the drop of a hat is very much a trait of teenage girls. And of course she has her own motives, Shujin has nooo idea…
As for Azuki, I don't see her situation as being a reason for her to be saved... but a MAJOR bump in the road for our young manga-ka's.

And I do love Miyoshi, lack of real ambition and all. She's WAY better than stupid Misa from Death Note. At least she's not worshiping the ground Shujin and Saiko stand on. She's being realistic.

You ever read Dave Barry's guide to marriage and/or sex? He suggests that the groom should be picked about 6 months before the wedding and you should have a couple of reserve grooms in case your main choice gets cold feet.

One of the best chapters ever. I can't believe so much happened in 19 short pages. I thought it was funny, and realistic, how Miyoshi changed her dream, and it's probably for the best if she was just gonna have Shujin to most of the writing for her. Also, the whole marriage talk was hilarious and the resulting conversation with the random school…ROFL.
Always good to hear from Azuki...well, maybe not in this case And about her being possibly taken advantage of/exploited, well can you really blame them? She's just a small town girl (living in a lonely world), she's shy, and she's the typical dreamer reaching for the stars. She just screams vulnerability...not that that makes it right, of course.
And I really liked their talk with Hattori. Looks like they're even closer to serialization, but it looks like they're gonna have to work really hard now. I'm really looking forward to the ensuing contest between them and Fukuda.
I hope Miyoshi decides to go back to karate.

Well, turns out that they don't necessarily need to get #1 in the Golden Future Cup to be serialized. Decreases the urgency a bit, but I like how it doesn't have to be so absolute.
Saiko and Shujin looked like they needed some serious sleep, so it was nice of Hattori to spare them working on chapters every two weeks.
I got some chuckles out of Nakai being all googly-eyed over the ice queen Ko, and Koogy sounds like one of those celebrities that do crazy stuff for the hell of it; but he's actually got genuine talent. Maybe.

FINALLY. A female manga-ka. Who apparently is doing a shounen-like shoujo that got kicked out of Margaret. Is this supposed to be a spiritual successor to Naoko Takeuchi (creator of Sailor Moon)? Or a counterpart to Hoshino of D.Gray-Man?
But man, they are just getting bombarded with rivals, aren't they? I wish they would show more of what their mystery manga looks like, I'm intrigued.
Very interesting chapter. Good to see that Shujin and Mashiro can get a little bit of a break (though they're gonna have to give it their all to get serialized). The girl manga-ka was interesting, but I'm really looked forward to what this Koogy guy is going to add to the story.

My guess as to why they did that is because the new guy, the rockstar, Sasuke-lookalike is going to crush them all in order to be seen as a serious threat and rival. All of the others are "friendly rivals" and I this guy already looks like the "villain".
Personally, I've never really liked the mangaka's art style much but I'm starting to dig the style a little more now. Loved the Decora-styled Saiko in the colorspread!XDD

Isnt it the opposite? I mean, she was complaining that the Ashorogi Muto story didnt feel SHONEN ENOUGH, right? And the editors and the boys themselves admitted that in retrospect. And it sounds like she and the rockstar split, so she's probably bitter or something right now. Maybe entering with an agendy of taking him down?

Also I can see why Hattori wants them to beat the colourfusical guy, its a bit 'cheap' him using his fame to get votes rather than his actual talent (atleast, thats the impression i'm getting)

I think that she is the type of character that was meant to be hated by the readers. The fact that three other people besides myself felt this shows that the authors did a good job on her character.
