In the latest issue of One Piece that Giant who was a slave under those Tenryuubito guys was released by Law and Law said that he should go with the strawhats does this hint something that Oda's planning something with him?

The next and obviously last member will be Ace, due to the fact that Whitebeard is going to die in the fight with the Shichibukai (and possibly Admirals) and he'll no longer have a captain that he want to make the Pirate King.
Silvers Raleigh (probably been mentioned fifty times) would be a significant addition to the Strawhats, just because of the legacy and meaning he carries. I mean the first mate of the Pirate King joining the man who will become the next pirate king? It's like seventeen kinds of symbolic right there!
He has experience that no one else could possibly have and fucking spirit powers that can kill anyone dead (plus he's usually too lazy to use them, so it's not like he's going to become the Superman to SH's Justice League and defeat every foe no matter what, because it's also a matter of willingness for him.) But I can see how having him on board might kind of draw attention away from Luffy, because it will be like: "Oh, that crew's got the Pirate King's first mate" and Luffy will always somewhat be in his shadow. IMO then, it's really 50/50 for him joining.
However, I will bet money that Professor Vegapunk joins the SHs. I'm calling it right here and now, he's gonna do it!

i totaly agree luffy couldnt care less if the crew mates had a talnt or a spefic skill that would help the ship usopp joined with no real position he got a position later on they wnted vivi to join and they had no need for her she would have been more of a burden than a help robins psition isnt eeded on a pirate ship and luffy asked brook to join beforre he new he was a musician he asked him to join because he was a skeleton and he luffy thoughthe was cool look at wb or shanksthey have heaps of crew members the cant all have positions

Out of the new characters so far I would guess Duval joins the Strawhats. He could be the crew's beautiful person.
Camie can't fight and doesn't have legs so she would only hinder the Strawhats.

I have to agree with the people who are saying that there won't be any new nakama until the SH either arrive at Merman Island or after entering the New World. I really haven't seen a person with the potential to join. Correction I thought Rayleigh might join, but that was before we knew that he was Roger's former right hand man.

I'm sorry, but no. The Pirate King's first mate joining the Straw Hats? Lol no. Rayleigh is probably one of the strongest characters in the story, it'd be poor story telling to have him join. Also, he's an old man who has already abandoned his previous life so he can live in peace.

But it's likely Whitebeard is going to fall soon and Ace will have to find a new purpose if he survives, which I think he will.

If or when Whitebeard falls, I suspect Ace will return to his dream of making himself Pirate King because that was his original dream before meeting Whitebeard.

I thought about that theory too. And it would mean that a 'not really unimportant' character would die (teh whitebeard), so i still see that as a possibility for oda to show that he overcame his urge to let everyone live.

Actually, if Whitebeard dies, it would raise WG's authority, making them an actual threat to pirates, so I believe it would work out story-wise.

That was a metaphor… Stephen regrets to this day ever translating that sentence as such. It simply meant "Let's meet at the top." He can still join up when Luffy is near his peak and complete the crew.

Personally I'm against Ace joining, not for his connection to whitebeard, or his rivary with luffy, but because he is a logia type.
The Straw hats have always been the underdogs and having a logia would take away from that. Afterall I doubt every single enemy group in the new world is equiped with seastone.

Thats ^^^^ one of the dumbest ideas yet, seriously. She gets eaten all the time, it would be pointless to have her scouting on her own.
The new chapters have pointed out for sure that Camie's not joining :(
Her kidnapping was not to make her get spotlight, but only a plot device letting the Straw Hats meet Rayleigh (whom I'm sure will not join either).
Thus, we can't except anyone on the Sabaody Islands to join - maybe Camie wasn't the best to fill in a good position in the Straw Hats, but she was the only with BOTH a Staw Hat-quirky personality and friendship with them.
I would say 40 % chance for a fish man/mermaid joining at Fishman Island, but really, the Straw Hats actually wouldn't need another crew member.
It doesn't matter if the Straw Hats need another crew or not. It doesn't matter at all. All it matters is if Luffy asked someone to join and the person finally agrees, then that's it.
Well, a friend linked me to this forum and i was just reading this and i thought i'd just put in my input.
So… I was thinking... I remember that it was once mentioned that the crew's ship was a very important nakama. So maybe... the 10th member (i believe it's the last since Luffy's original plan was for only 10) is not even one of flesh, but one that has been with them all along. Maybe it's their ship. I mean, ok their first one basically died, but it's still being carried along in the newer body that is the thousand sunny.
And thinking it through, every member of crew has had some Strong and Real reason for being there.
A vice captain/swordsman because every battle has this insanely powerful swordsman and since swords are Luffy's weakness, it makes sense that his vice captain is there to cover that end.
A cook and a fighter since every fight has a non weapon user who is also madly strong. Also, Sanji's less noticeable skill for doing "undercover work".
A shipwright, for obvious reasons.
A marksman, since many strong crews revealed so far has had a very good sniper on board. Also, not forgetting Ussop's talent of deception and his inventiveness.
A navigator and a sort of elementalist, area of effect kind of damage giver. Also Nami's forgettable ability of pickpocketing and treasure keeping.
An archaeologist, because as they get deeper into the story and more about the poneglyps are revealed there will be a need for someone to read them. Robin is also able to keep her cool and maintain a level head in very surprising situations, a good quality for an advisor - something a lot of the good crews have.
A doctor, and someone who can communicate with animals.
A musician, cuz lets face it, most pirate crews of old had a musician to keep the crew entertained during their voyages. And there might be a need for another swordsman since more of them seem to be coming up, and if Brook doesn't get stronger at least he can take care of the weaker lackies.
And then there's the ship to cap it all.
I read a few arguments to how the crew might get a fashion designer since Oda is creative enough to probably think of that. Well, here's my retort, Oda is indeed hella creative, but he's no fool, and if every member of his crew has had such a good purpose for being there, even though on the surface they might've seemed sorta useless or just a burden , then unless there is a seriously good reason for why he needs a fashion designer on board... I mean why not then come up with things like a gardener or maybe a giant?
IMO, the crew is already set and ready, and any new members will just add to the overall strength of the crew.
So yeah.. that's just my views... Nice to see that there's a one piece forum.. actually seeing the community. Gotta thank my mate for the intro.

Sorry, I didn't know that, but now it's a matter of figuring out what is considered the "top." For all we know, simple reaching the NW is considered reaching the top in which case Ace would be a valuable crew member for his knowledge of it.

Yes, it's true, but my impression of the OP world is that the Captain is usually the strongest. Although, I can see (sort of) Ace following the whims of his brother, but I still think a fight might be needed even if it's just for the sake of Ace seeing how strong Luffy has gotten.
