I don't know if this has been posted before. If so, I'm sorry. But I found out earlier this week that a game called "The World Ends With You" is coming out on the 23rd. I was thinking of buying it, but I'm not really sure. I mean, it is $40. So I thought I would ask for your opinion on it.

I'm playing it.. It's loads of fun. But it's really strange, there really isn't anything i ever played like it.
Friend of mine's interested in it.

Looks interesting. When I read the opening description, it reminded me of this anime I read where these 11 people have cell phones that tell them how events are going to play out, and only one of those people (Yuki, the main character) has the power to change that fate.
I caught wind of this in the latest EGM. They gave it some good marks, and it did look pretty interesting. And I do have some Best Buy cupins', and a tax return…..I'll have to pick it up when it comes out.
How's the battle system on this thing? From what I've read, it looks really confusing, which is the only thing I was worried about. Other than that, it looks good.

From what I've heard it's really complicated at first. But you get used to it. You can control two characters at a time. One's on the top screen while Neku is in the lower screen. You control Neku with the stylus while you control the other character with the D-pad. Kind of like DDR. And if you do the right moves with both of them, you'll be able to get a special move. That's what I got from the video I saw. I hope that made sense. ^^;
P.S. I already pre-ordered the game. XD

I've been looking forward to this game since way back when it was first announced for Japan. Of all the Square-Enix games I thought this one had the least chance of getting localized, what with its very close ties to modern Japanese culture and all, so it's an awesome surprise to see this game in English. Unlike most people I like Nomura's designs, and when I first saw this game I was overcome with its stylishness. Its great that it's getting good reviews too!

Same could be said for Kingdom Hearts. That's pretty girlish sounding, but people bought it right up.

That's a different situation, because that game had both a large amount of pre-release press/hype, and the disney element that made it easier to market as-is. This is just another game, here, so they need to sell it.
Also, anyone know when the soundtrack comes out? I'd like to check it out, and maybe add it to my collection.

The title was changed due to copyright issues.
Also, if you have a problem with the $40 price tag, just wait a month. Square-Enix's recent DS games always drop like a rock in price.

Well they didn't include a date, so I just assume that it was this year. XD But I have it now, so it doesn't really matter anymore. XP I was just kinda hoping that the date was for a release here in America, but I doubt that'll ever happen. -_-

That's not much better, considering this is a fantasy RPG where you try to prevent the end of the world and that is a game where you grow stuff on a farm and then sell it. And maybe get hitched.

! Everyone seems to have to sacrifice something to enter the game, I'm guessing that the protagonist sacrificed his memory in order to enter..
What? I thought it was already out in America… It´s already out on Europe, but I´m not sure how much it´ll sell since Square didn´t bother to translate it(it´s in english only, and it has a lot of text). It´s a real MUST HAVE anyway, but the fights can be a bit chaotic with the two screens unless you concentrate on the fight or make the partner move automatically.
The story is pure gold. The title is what one of the characters say to Neku, the main character, about opening yourself to others, "expanding" your inner world

I pretty much think that I'm gonna fail dramatically with the battle system at first.
This game did terribly in Japan, and most of the American reviews I've read have been pretty harsh. And yet, one of my friends, who has read the same reviews, still wants this game so desperately, because it was made by the Kingdom Hearts team.
I kind of hope it's good, simply because it's so unique. We don't see many games like this nowadays.

It seems my earlier sources have been updated. Game Life posted that the game didn't sell well in Japan when it first came out, but then 1up later posted that it was fairly well received.
So, basically, the only people who don't like it are a few obscure bloggers I know indirectly.

Ok, i enjoyed it at the start. But now that it turns out that certain pins only evolve by going online, i'll quit playing.. This is really ruining game for me.

You shouldn´t give up that early… there´s lot of pins with the same effects (slash enemies/slash neku/point an empty space/point an enemy...), and only some pins need that "mingle" thing to evolve, most of them just need battle PP or "shutdown" PP (the experience you get for the time you haven´t played the game)
I really don't mind that some of them evolve by 'mingling.' Since I'm going to get Wifi fairly soon. But I do agree with luffink. You shouldn't give it up just for that.

I got it today, enjoying it, can't work both screens at the same time to save my life. I also cannot find the "meme' for the part or whatever the tech is missing.

It's not that hard. I've managed. And trust me, if I can do it. Anyone can. XD
I just don't concentrate on the top screen as much as I do the bottom one. After all, if you leave the top character immobile for a bit, it goes into auto-play. So, it's all good. XP
I think Squeenix where all on LSD while making this game and all saw each other with melting face and thought we had one eye on our forehead and one on our chin xD

This game is fucking incredible. Why hasn't it sold a million copies and already have a sequel in the works?
I haven't had this much fun exploring with a game and enjoyed a simple story like this since Chrono Trigger.
Usually these are sentiments I hold of a game in the first few hours and then slowly that feeling dies and it becomes routine but I'm on the Beat chapter and it's still fantastic.

I read that it started out slowly, and then built up more momentum later on.
I was lucky enough to come across it about a week and a half ago. I'm on the third week, and taking my sweet time level grinding and leveling up my pins.
Sho Minamimoto is lucky he has a funny personality and hilarious battle quotes, because otherwise I would despise him. Stupid Taboo Noise and him being the kind of boss that just sits back and sics stuff on you. Ugh.
I really want to play it but lack a DS, and sadly DS emulation can't play it yet.
