Yep, the main two points are this:
1. For any large popularity, One Piece is gonna HAVE to be on a mainstream station at a decent time.
2. The TV episodes are 167 episodes ahead of the DVDs.

Well I'll tell you one thing. Canceling One Piece is not going to help the internet/anime piracy.
Personally I would like the televised One Piece to be successful because I want "One Piece to be successful". If it gets on TV, more people get to watch it, more people will buy it's manga version, and so on and so on.
Ah, the 'Knight in Shining Armor' approach.
One Piece wasn't made for you.
One Piece wasn't made for me.
One Piece was made for Japanese people living in Japan that do Japanese things.
It just so happens that we enjoy it.
That said, Oda isn't banking on the series being a worldwide success so the merchandise will flow like a river of gold.
You know, I see a lot of people talking about merchandise and, "If OP gets more popular we can get more merchandise."
Here's a secret.
98% of OP merchandise is pure crap.
Why do you think I don't waste my time taking a million photos of it or trying to get my hands on the latest OP keychain made in China? It's fun to accumulate OP or any anime merch. but I realized one day, "What the fuck am I wasting my money on!?" I have a room full of DB crap and what does that do for me? Yeah okay, I can display a bunch of figures or write a letter with a DB pencil on DB stationary or look at my DB calendar with my walls covered by DB wallscrolls and talking on my cellphone with a Piccolo skin and strap but…..what does any of that accomplish? It's not anything particularly special. It's just me surrounding myself in overpriced merchandise that will eventually find its way into storage. It's fun when you're young but when you start to accumulate mountains of the crap, just....what good is any of it? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, if it's your thing, it's your thing, but it's not doing you any good and Oda certainly is depending on you to purchase a Chupa-Chupa Chopper doll to support him and his wife.
Nowadays I pursue badass color-spread posters and badass mini-figures that come out every few years, the majority of them being shit.
If I had a few extra bucks, I'm sure I'd throw it out the window for a Zoro P.O.P. but that's about it. These days almost anything worth buying can be found with ease online, via import stores or friends who have access.
In short, getting MORE OP merchandise available internationally isn't exactly a good thing. I know one of the reasons I originally enjoyed collecting DB merch. was simply because, so few other people could.
And a few years later we had a plastic cannon-firing Trunks' time machine.
Cosmic, do you have a laptop? I know whenever I watch OP with my dad I always use cables to connect it to a TV or a projector. It's like watching it in a theater.
Not having a tv deal just endangers it's whole future of being here. And that's what I'm worried about.
Yeah, it probably doesn't matter two craps to you. But it does to me.

So because you dont want OP merchandise cause you think its a waste, that means that nobody else might want some?
I like to buy products of my favorite animes/games/movies ect.
I would love to see an overload of OP merchandise here.
Ah, the 'Knight in Shining Armor' approach.
One Piece wasn't made for you.
One Piece wasn't made for me.
One Piece was made for Japanese people living in Japan that do Japanese things.
Wow, Greg…I didn't know you could be that...yeah. By saying it wasn't made for us, but for the Japanese people you seem to be implying that the Japanese are not people like Americans, or vice versa rather. Quite racist/nationalist of you.
As you would say: RACE WAAAAR!
I want One Piece on T.V., and it has nothing to do with justifying anything (being on Toonami wouldn't justify my liking One Piece to anyone who'd mock me for it anyway). It's because I will NOT be buying the DVD's. Both because I don't have the money, and because I don't like any anime enough to buy the DVD's. The manga yes, but not the anime. So if One Piece isn't on T.V., and I can't rent the DVD's or something, then I won't be seeing the dub. Which is annoying, since I find that a good dub adds to the experience alot more then subs. And then there's the question of my younger brother for me, who likes the show, but can't get it in any way other then the dub. (Subs are out of the question for him, he can't read…)
I'm not really sure what's so bad about wanting to share something you enjoy with other people through a broader medium, but I agree that it's pretty lame to hope for the popularity of a series just so that your opinion will be more widely accepted or justified. I liked having One Piece on broadcast because obviously the episodes are way ahead of what's going to be released on DVD, but there was also that element of sharing the experience with others simultaneously, having those episode topics here to share fresh reactions. I mean it's only human to want to do things with other people, right.
Just felt like the opinions were a little too polarized on the subject…
Anyway, I'm missing part of my Saturday night routine with this situation but there's nothing I can really say until we have more info.
Greg is 100% right, but I think we are more along the lines of WANTING OP on the air so we can see new episodes every week (they're starting DVD's with season 1, the TV dub was in Skypiea, so it's gonna be a while) and the fact that OP deserves to be on the air. I don't see much of this "trying to justify my fandom with it being on TV" around.
I'm a cheap bastard, so I wouldn't buy DVDs, but I would record the episodes for future watching. However, that assumes I wasn't so cheap as to not be willing to pay for cable.
98% of OP merchandise is pure crap.
98% of everything is crap.
True, at this point, I couldn't see buying much more OP merchandise. I have a short list of things I'd be willing to pay good money for at this point.
However, I figure a big part of it is that if enough garbage hits the market, a few good things will float to the top. If you hit the 98% figure, putting 200 items on the market means four goodies will show up.
I'd go into more detail about my opinion, but I won't since I pretty much share a bunch of others' sentiments. I don't care about having "One Piece" on T.V. to "complete my fandom experience" and cement its popularity or whatever, but I also think it's unfair to not share something you like with even more people that might like it, so I definitely want "One Piece" to be on T.V.
But back on this whole cancellation business, I'm thinking I'll call the Toei Animation L.A. office tomorrow to see if I can find out what's up. I can't promise anything though, I might even forget to call them.
Greg
Bounty1Berry 98% of everything is crap.
But wouldn't crap be 100% crap?
heh
Soo, any actual real news here?
News?
anywhere? I haven't really seen anything new/groundbreaking..
:(
Ah, the 'Knight in Shining Armor' approach.
…. Say what?
Are you suggesting that being on TV would be One Piece's "Knight in Shining Armour" and lead it to prosperity, or am I myself trying to be this "Knight in Shining Armour"? Because this has nothing to do with me.
I don't get it though, what's wrong with wishing One Piece does well here? What's wrong with me wishing for good things for it's creators due to it's potential success here?
And whats this about it not being made for us have to do with anything? Besides, it doesn't matter who it was made for, it's for EVERYONE who can enjoy it and who are still to discover it.
I'll also take that 2% of good merchandise over none. And the super fans and collectors can have the other 98 if they so desire.
And to Lobster, there really isn't any news here. It looks like just another venting ground/strike up your own conversation threads. Which is sometimes nice, just throwing stuff out there and striking up conversations with people. Keeps the place active.
Hehe, anarchy.
Cosmic, do you have a laptop?
No. :cwy:
But come on…Laptop vs. Giant widescreen TV and stereo!
So because you dont want OP merchandise cause you think its a waste, that means that nobody else might want some?
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, if it's your thing, it's your thing, but it's not doing you any good and Oda certainly is depending on you to purchase a Chupa-Chupa Chopper doll to support him and his wife.

I see my point has gone directly over your head.
One Piece was not created with sales in America in mind. It was created and marketed for a group of people living on an island in the Pacific.
OP selling well in other countries gives the suits at Toei, Fuji and Shueisha more opportunities to eat horse, whale and go golfing in Fiji. Not saying there's anything wrong with that because, that's business as usual no matter where you go.
HOWEVER, the whole, "OP needs to sell well everywhere so we can support it!" No. OP will do just fine without you. It doesn't need you or your help.
Everytime I walk into a convenience store on Monday morning and purchase a copy of JUMP, I'm giving them more money than they expected/counted on because I'm a foreigner, someone not included in their marketing plan.
I'm a cheap bastard, so I wouldn't buy DVDs, but I would record the episodes for future watching. However, that assumes I wasn't so cheap as to not be willing to pay for cable.
If you're a cheap bastard, then I'm a cheap fuck. When I was in the US, my $13 a month subscription to Netflix combined with a DVD burner gave me a 200+ DVD collection in just 6 months.
However, I figure a big part of it is that if enough garbage hits the market, a few good things will float to the top. If you hit the 98% figure, putting 200 items on the market means four goodies will show up.
I agree completely. I used the example of the P.O.P. or posters in my post. My point is though, these days it's probably easier for people abroad to get their hands on some items than it is for me IN Japan.
but I also think it's unfair to not share something you like with even more people that might like it, so I definitely want "One Piece" to be on T.V.
Why is it your/our responsibility to do so or even to care about it? It's not unfair, we enjoy our show/comic. People that ignore it will ignore it.
"But Greg, they need to watch it and experience it! They'll never know unless it's on TV."
Not having a tv deal just endangers it's whole future of being here. And that's what I'm worried about.
www.kaizoku-fansubs.com etc. etc.
Everyone who wants OP will get OP one way or another. That's no reason to start bitching about a network that used to rock making shitty programming choices or spending even more than a moment caring about it.
No.
That's a problem, then I can't really offer any advice.
But come on…Laptop vs. Giant widescreen TV and stereo!
Well, I was inferring that with a laptop you can use any number of audio or video cables to plug into your giant widescreen TV and stereo like I do. I'm sorry I was vague about that.
It's just a matter of differing habits.
When some people find something new that they enjoy, they get excited and want to share it with others. And when it starts to really catch on, they get excited. They're excited because the wave of success could bring new benefits.
Others may find these things and enjoy them more privately. They're content with just watching the show and casually seek out others who already enjoy it. They remain indifferent to how it performs in other places because they feel it wont change anything.
Nothings wrong with either side, they just have different goals. But we shouldn't equate either side with those few(?) who want it to catch on to validate their own choice in watching it and feel superior, or the ones who covet it as their own little private indulgence and would rather it stay inconspicuous to the masses and be their own little club.
I have to disagree with Greg's marketing analysis. They're licensing this stuff over to other countries in the hopes of acquiring more revenue to help finance their industry. Japan wants our money, and they're putting a fair bit into oversees ventures in order to get it.
Wasn't this the big topic on ANN and the like, with dropping success in the US industry having a rippling effect in Japan? Granted, One Piece has managed to do well for itself despite lackluster performances oversees. But who knows what the future could bring.

The thing is that I want a dub. Subs are fine, whatever. But I much prefer a dub, and not being on TV could endanger it being with FUNi.
If Bleach, Naruto, Death Note, etc. get to have a dub and get to be aired on tv, then I don't see why One Piece always has to get the cold end of the stick.

I hate to say this that ''potential'' is gone because 4kids ruined many feasible consumers .
I have to disagree with Greg's marketing analysis.
You can disagree all you like.
As soon as it stops being profitable or even costly, we'll see companies holding back licenses and or licensing agents start to pull the plug on existing licenses.
Not that that's already happened or anything.
cough http://www.apforums.net/showthread.php?t=16541
And yet, Japanese animation/comics still survive while the market abroad shrinks.
Funny, no?
I think the one exception to Japanese shit being made solely with Japanese people in mind is video games. That and fusion cooking. But only one of those two doesn't suck ass.
Wasn't this the big topic on ANN and the like, with dropping success in the US industry having a rippling effect in Japan?
Yeah, since the US is essential to the success of anything in another country. I mean hell, Dragonball or anime didn't even exist until 1996. There were artists starving in the streets begging for work in Japan. Anime didn't exist until 12-year-old Americans said it did.
Anime and manga will always exist. It's an ingrained piece of Japanese culture and so long as they exist, it will too.
Whether or not something succeeds in the US is almost trivial. I seem to recall a lot of you fretting about whether 4Kids would be able to convince Toei to tone down the violence and alter numerous other things about the show. As I see it, you were silly then, and you're being silly now.
At this point, whether or not One Piece becomes a "mainstream hit" isn't relevant. We're finally getting uncut bilingual DVDs with a completely accurate English dub produced by people who actually know their ass from a hole in the ground. Isn't that what we all really wanted from day one? What's the problem?
So please, take your cake and eat it, and don't complain that you didn't get any ice cream.
The problem is it may not last.
The problem is it may not last.

Everyone who wants One Piece will get One Piece one way or the other.
"But a DVD is better!"
Yeah it is. Would you prefer no DVD or no OP whatsoever?
Can anyone say with a straight face that there is no possible way they'll be able to obtain One Piece if they want it enough?
Yes, if you don't have the option of hooking a comp up to a TV, it would stink. Yes, it's nice to have official DVDs that you spent money on which allow Mr. Taro Yamamoto to eat some Kobe beef. Yes, it's nice to Tivo episodes. That's all great and a lovely convenience. But Christ, from some of the immature reactions I'm seeing you think it was a discussion on the state of Iraq.
I get worked up on this topic every once and a while because I see perfectly logical individuals posting as if the sky was falling.
OP could be off TV. DVD's may stop circulation. The sun will rise tomorrow and you can download the newest episode hours after it airs or even watch it live now so I hear.
Dry your tears and move on. No need to curse or condemn a network.
I'm gonna laugh at every single one of you when new episodes do appear on Cartoon Network. Thats all.
With the way things are looking from the SakuraCon announcement, though, the DVDs are probably going to be safe provided people buy them. Funi is going to be sending them out REALLY, REALLY fast - I will probably have both boxed sets by my birthday (July 31) unless I run into some severe financial issues.
I think part of the issue that's irking Greg is that people are being TOO DAMN NEGATIVE. "One Piece is being dubbed by Funimation? But they're keeping Zolo wah wah wah". "One Piece is off TV and the only word from Cartoon Network we've gotten is incredibly vague? Wah wah wah." "One Piece DVDs are starting at episode one and coming out every six to eight week? But the sales will suck. Wah wah wah."
Certainly things like Zolo instead of Zoro aren't the most ideal situation but you know what? It's better than nothing. And unless one of you have obtained the ability to see into the future I doubt any of you know for a fact how well One Piece will do in terms of DVD sales. The only thing I can guess is that a lot of us will be buying the boxed sets when they come out, but beyond that we don't have a clue how many OP fans who are not on this forum will buy it, how many people will buy it out of curiosity to see if they like it, how many people buy it a little ways down the road after hearing good things via word of mouth, ect.
Am I going to be throwing a party if they stop releasing the DVDs? No, probably not. I would probably be disappointed, but I'd eventually get over it and move on. But you guys are whining about it before you even know what's going to happen.
Like I said a while back, unless someone can post ratings, do you honestly think new episodes of OP rated so much lower than Naruto fillers and DBZ re-runs that it had to be canceled? I highly doubt that. OP is most likely just taking a break like the 4kids one did sometime back.

Well I doubt It get lower ratings than the DragonBall Z reruns.
Some of us don't wanna just have to pirate One Piece to enjoy it. Some of us actually wanna show our love for something and buy it. You can orgasm all over your fansubs, but you're telling yourself fansubs will be forever, they wont. Kaizoku-Fansubs isn't gonna be around probably in another 10 years, hell fansubs could be completely gone by then for all we know.
My point is, while I have the opportunity I'm gonna BUY the series so I know as long as I keep my belongings I'm gonna have it. But I suppose the same goes for fansubers with large hard drives.
I guess when you put it that way, my rant seems badly messaged.
.. I'll remove it.
Well I doubt It get lower ratings than the DragonBall Z reruns.
Yeah, but who knows…..
Then again, DBZ got replaced by a show that finished it's run a long time ago, so....

Pretty much what I was trying to say a while back. The way I was raised in my family, we learned to appreciate the old and obscure in Movies and TV (Akira Kurosawa, The Prisoner, old B&W Disney Zorro). There's no need to hound people because the center of their universe happens to be American Idol and they can't watch something because it's black and white. What are you going to do? DEMAND they release a colorized version?
What I'm trying to say is, take pride in the fact you're into a series, many others are too shallow to check out.
Sure, it's nice to turn on people to what you like, and they might end up thanking you for it. In One Piece's case, where I think Greg misses the mark a little, is I think there's a LOT of people here in the US (or other English speaking countries like the UK, Australia and NZ where they show it) who judged it off the 4Kids version and just sees it as a mediocre mess. And yes while the JAPANESE companies (namely Toei) are doing just fine with Japanese sales, what about Funimation who has the opportunity to turn things around and erase and retcon the series 4Kids made. I feel like that fans SHOULD support THAT as much as possible.
And speaking of Greg (chuckle) Greg Ayres has a really great (long) panel on fansubs and scanlations including a story of one REALLY PISSED mangaka on scanlations. It'd probably rebuke some of the stuff Greg (here) said (supporting companies and whatnot).
@FUNiOnePiecefan: That wasn't towards you, I didn't even read your post.
Apology accepted. It's because of the closeness of your mini-rant to my huge rant. And I am better off deleting it. It still conveyed the same meaning as the rant you were ranting about

One Piece doesn't have
A teenager who can see ghosts unintentionally becoming a god of death
to do battle with deadly & dangerous monsters that only certain people can see.
A young boy who had a powerful beast imprisoned within his body when he was a child and now wants to become the leader of his bustling village all the
while winning the affections and the attention of the girl he likes.
An intelligent but slightly psychotic high schooler running around writing the names if people into a notebook that has the ability to kill any of the individuals whose names is written into the book.
maybe those are the reasons OP isn't drawing many US fans into it's ranks.
Personally I would like the televised One Piece to be successful because I want "One Piece to be successful". If it gets on TV, more people get to watch it, more people will buy it's manga version, and so on and so on.
It's not gonna make a difference to me, but the popularity of the show will rise.
I don't know how much (or any) gets back to the animators or even Oda himself, but I still hope that it'll have some sort of positive impact on the series.
This person, their opinion is the one i agree with 100%
I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with Greg. If he doesn't care about its popularity over here that's fine. I don't care much if it's a huge success as long as it's doing well enough to stay on tv. Not to mention, greg can speak japanese and live in japan and have access to whatever crappy OP crap he wants while american fans were on their knees begging for an english copy of a shitty game like unlimited adventure.
Not to mention, if OP is on tv, the dvds themselves will be much easier to actually find and purchase. Stores usually stock anything that airs on tv and since it's on tv and people can get it for free, the price tag is usually alot more afforadable when you compare it to niche titles that are for hardcore fans only.
OP is an insanely long series, too. I imagine most fans were planning to buy boxsets slowly as they could afford them and follow the series on tv in the mean time to get their OP fix. Now they're pretty much forced to be rich or go back to fansubs.
Hey guys, I might have just stumbled onto something…or I'm just thinking too much. But it could be the fate of Toonami. XD
You know the FUNimation channel, right? Well, turns out come September-October 2008 they're getting new shows...one of them...being Naruto.
So?
Yes, it would seem like it'd just be "so". But FUNi doesn't air any of the shows CN is or was just recently. For example, they don't got DBZ on their channel but they do DB. Why wouldn't FUNi have their most prized show on their own channel? Simple, Cartoon Network was broadcasting it. So this could mean come October CN wont be broadcasting Naruto anymore? I'm thinking "no", but was just a thought.
Wanna know what the other four shows are? Brace yourselves.
InuYasha
Shaman King
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
So, the FUNi channel is getting a few Viz and 4kids shows. Wonder what's up with that.

I think all of us are forgetting, One Piece is not appealing to American audicences because it rather simple pirates are not as "exotic" as Shingami's and ninja's and the art style is a huge turn off. I mean even with Funimation dubbing One Piece it still would not be as popular as Naruto or Bleach regardless and it will never become a mainstream hit …never, besides most if not all Americans like Cliche' Shonen anime....why do you think Inuyasha is popular ?
Everyone who wants One Piece will get One Piece one way or the other.
Are you serious?
Maybe hardcore fans, but not the casual viewer at all.
OP has a good chance to draw in american fans who're simply to lazy to change the channel after Naruto but taken completely off the air, the casual viewer who might've seen an episode and gotten hooked will never even know it existed.
even for someone like me, who isn't a casual viewer it's increasingly tougher to find fansubs especially without downloading the episode batches. There are some people, even people who arent huge anime or manga fans that would've stumbled across the series, fell in love and became a fan, buying dvds and all that. Without the series on tv, things like that simply aren't gonna happen. Those people "want" One Piece but their chance of getting to see it or seeing an episode that hooks them into the series is gone with it off the air. A big part of the reason shows like Bleach are popular has nothing to do with the series and more to do with their merchandise being everywhere in stores and new episodes constantly airing on tv.
Inuu Yasha is popular in Japan, too.I have alot of friends who like cliched shonen fighting type series. One who liked Bleach and Naruto and the like, and they all loved One Piece once they saw uncut fansubs of it. OP just isnt marketed the right way in the US and that 4kids thingplus the art style just turns potential fans off even more.

to do battle with deadly & dangerous monsters that only certain people can see.A young boy who had a powerful beast imprisoned within his body when he was a child and now wants to become the leader of his bustling village all the
while winning the affections and the attention of the girl he likes. An intelligent but slightly psychotic high schooler running around writing the names if people into a notebook that has the ability to kill any of the individuals whose names is written into the book.
maybe those are the reasons OP isn't drawing many US fans into it's ranks.
Please tell me this is some joke.
I understand what you're saying, but it's a pretty weak arguement. Basically saying people aren't interested in it, which makes sense. But the same goes for any anime series. I know I like Bleach and love Death Note, but Naruto doesn't appeal to me, and I have tried all 3 series' out.
Plus, comparing OP's anime history to the above 3 isn't a really wise choice. I can't say if FUNi had OP from the begining that it'd be as sucessful as something like Naruto, but I can say it would have been more sucessful without 4Shits.
All in all though, let's just wait until we get some news either 100% confirming it's cancellation, or saying it was just a hiatus for whatever reason. Instead of just using this extremely vauge news we have and freaking out about it.
Hey guys, I might have just stumbled onto something…or I'm just thinking too much. But it could be the fate of Toonami. XD
You know the FUNimation channel, right? Well, turns out come September-October 2008 they're getting new shows...one of them...being Naruto.
InuYasha
Shaman King
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Yu-Gi-Oh! GXSo, the FUNi channel is getting a few Viz and 4kids shows. Wonder what's up with that.
Umm… WUH!?
Where you'd find that out? Please don't say some random person told you...

Beat me to it, I'm scratching my head to that myself.
Please tell me this is some joke.

What I meant to show with that is that each show has something unique to it that draws people to it, and I wasn't trying to do a comparison.
@Cain:
And speaking of Greg (chuckle) Greg Ayres has a really great (long) panel on fansubs and scanlations including a story of one REALLY PISSED mangaka on scanlations. It'd probably rebuke some of the stuff Greg (here) said (supporting companies and whatnot).
And there's more.

While I am linking these articles, please, in the name of all things sacred, nobody bring fansubbing/downloading ethics into the conversation. It's bad enough I went and pulled up this stuff as well.
But Greg my point is that I understand you're very skeptical of this "ripple effect" I keep mentioning, but this isn't some crazy crap I'm making up just to help sell my point. This has been talked about for a while now, and could one day become an issue. Of course maybe I'm too naive and they're just holding upside down to shake out the last few pennies out of our pockets. They don't give us data sheets on how they're doing, all we can do is watch for the signs. You linked to one such sign.
I think I'll also clarify that I'm not one of the crazy rabid CN haters on this board. Nor am I some virtuous crusader who is fighting the uphill battle of showing One Piece to the entire world in hopes of enlightening and a little bit of entertaining (to quote VegettoEX of Daizex.com).
On that note, I don't appreciate being taken as some fandom twit that thinks "Dragonball or anime didn't even exist until 1996, with artists starving and begging for work in Japan" and such. I'm not that idiot. I've met that idiot, and I am not him.
Merchandise, at least for me, has always meant to me that I was showing off my love and pride in another man's work. As a writer, I write stories I want to write but despite that I want my material to be enjoyed by anybody anywhere. I'm sure Oda prides himself in knowing that little Johnny Commando in America is able to laugh along side Taro-chan in Tôkyô, Hiroshima, or freakin' Kyoto. Race, gender, and nation of origin matters not, espicially for a fantasy comic like One Piece. All that matters is that it touched you.
Heh, going by some of the international letters he mentions getting in the SBS's, it seems to tickle him pink. Didn't he devote a whole section of on volume's SBS's to all the international versions of One Piece?
@Sandai:

Oh, my mistake. I must have interpreted it wrong.
But then shouldn't OP get a fairly decent amount of viewers as well? It is pretty unique after all.
Bleach has NOTHING unique about it whatsoever, so that argument is pretty flawed. I actually thought that little tribute WAS meant to be a joke.
Anyway, if someone has a link to the SBS where ODa-sensei answers international letters that'd be awesome! This is the first I've ever heard of that.
And I agree. I'm the first to say Oda-sensei isnt losing any sleep over whether or not OP is successful in any country outside of Japan, as a creator he has to think it's cool ppl all over the world are enthusiastic about his work.I think Tarrin laid out the argument for OP on tv better than anyone else could have.
Umm… WUH!?
Where you'd find that out? Please don't say some random person told you...
Oh, yeah, they said something like that at Sakura Con. I can't remember off the top of my head if those were the shows they're going to show on Funimation Channel though.
This is not directed at you or anyone but just a simple question ive been wanting to know…
What the fuck is so bad about the art? Its my favorite type of anime animation style and the movie 6 and TTGL animation as well. All i hear is that the art sucks and all that shit, Oda draws way more background in 1 chapter of One Piece (Since water 7) then Kubo has in like 30 chapters (I like Kubo's art as well but im just saying). IDK if its just me but i like it. I really hate the animation where characters eyes are fucking huge
example: 2nd pic on left column
!
Other examples: All there left eyes
!
!
I like the right eyes WAY better…but like i said thats just me
So i mean can someone just say whats so bad about it? I mean i wanna know what the hate is

At the moment, I only have the link to the "international edition" SBS he did.

As for answering an international letter, I believe it was from a fan in France. It might have been in one of the SBS's before #26, I'll have to look around. I'll update this post when I find it (unless you find it first.)
EDIT:: http://arlongpark.net/Manga/SBS/43 Bingo!

Come October CN will probably be showing Shippuuden, so I guess another network could have the old part 1 series.
