Ah, it sounds just awesome even over the background noises. She mentioned English Compass possibly being an extra on a Blu-Ray edition of Movie 8… That's one OP thing I see no point in buying as I don't got Blu-Ray.

@Mikey:
Hey, guys. I got back from Acen today and met Caitlin Glass. I asked her to sing Compass in English for me, and she did (for the most part). Here's the video my friend recorded of me asking her (I'm the Luffy cosplayer).
She also said FUNi didn't finish East Blue yet. They're still in the 20s, apparently…
In b4 someone tries to put the compass song in the vid to match the credits in the movie. (Because you know someone's going to)
Anyway, I appreciate the vid. You look pretty good as Luffy too.

That singing was awesome. Absolutely amazing! I loved it!… oh and Caitlin's was good too...
sorry had to do it

… then she's... not ... right because they said a long time ago that they were done with season 1. If they're in the 20s... we're not gonna be getting DVDs ever 6-8 weeks.
-
By Season One they must have meant the first set. Or 1-26 could be 'Season One' and 27-52 'Season Two'.
-
Mike told me personally that Toei considers the Skypiea arc to be part of season 3. So, that means 1-26 cannot be the first season unless the second season is really huge. Season 1 has to be at least 1-50
-
The way I understand it is that they just don't record every episode in actual order, they work with actors in booths recording their lines on any episode sort of episode they have to work on. So while they may have finished a significant amount of work Season 1, it's still not finished because not everything in every episode has been recorded yet.
-
Yeah, that is just as likely, as well.
It does beckon the question as to whether or not 'TV Season Three' equates to 'DVD Season Three'.
-
I'm pretty sure season one will be 1-53ish. Season 2 will end at the end of the post-alabasta arc (143), season 3 will begin at the Jaya arc and end right before the Davy Back Fight Arc.
So Season one I think will have around 4 voyages, Season 2 around seven, 3 around 5, 4 around 9. Of course, time has a way of changing plans. So if Funimation continues with their schedule, it'll take a little under 3.5 years to get through the CP9 Saga.
-
@Yuugi's:

Point taken… that's a very good point, since the TV dub is minus some 40 episodes, that could be a whole season right there.
-
Ok,
Bottom Line is: We don't know what the DVD Release considers the Seasons.
Originally, the Episodes were aired with about 39 Episodes missing, and that makes up seasons 1 and 2.
what about the other 39 eps? do they just add those in? will they use a different numbering entirely?
we don't know yetAlso, someone said at a previous Con that they are already into Season 2, so We've got contradictory info now
-
I'm really worried about that being in the 20s thing… I mean...
...so much for 6-8 weeks if that's true. I'm not going to be a happy panda =/
-
Well its kinda helps me out to save more money up. Since I have to buy both Bleach and DBZ at the same time as well One Piece.
-
This IS FUNimation, though. They're Nintendo-like in their secrecy sometimes, especially when it comes to VAs spilling the beans. Haven't their VAs been off on the completed episodes before (if I remember correctly, Chris Sabat said they had only done 7 episodes just a couple weeks before the new dub began to air). Depends on who gave what info. VA vs., say, a FUNi rep at a panel or something.
Then again, I could be wrong. I've never really been one to strongly follow all the latest news…
-

we don't know yetWell those episodes were just missing from the 4kids dub. FUNimation will go through with the original numbering system as the Japanese episodes. As far as what the DVD releases believe as seasons, here's what I think:
It has been confirmed that even though One Piece has been around for like ten years, it is basically so far divided into five seasons. East Blue, Alabasta, Skypiea, CP9, and Thriller Bark.
The fact that the first DVD says Season One first voyage confirms that at the very least FUNimation is aware that they should not have every DVD release considered as a season. Because of that, and their commitment to it being as loyal as possible to the Japanese leads me to believe that it will be divided up into five season with numerous "voyages" within each season.
-
no, Actually, The Official Japanese Seasons are as follows;
Season 1 - East Blue Chapter - Eps 1~62
Season 2 - Entering the Grand Line Chapter - Eps 63~77
Season 3 - Chopper and The Winter Island Chapter - Eps 78~92
Season 4 - Entering Arabasta & Arabasta Kingdom Chapters - Eps 93~130
Season 5 - Oceans Dream Chapter - Eps 131~143
Season 6 - Sky Island - Skypiea & Sky Island - Golden Bell Chapters - Eps 144~195
Season 7 - Escape! The Marine Stronghold & Foxy Pirate Crew Chapters - Eps 196~228
Season 8 - Water 7 Chapter - Eps 229~263
Season 9 - Enies Lobby Chapter - Eps 264~ (This is where the DVD releases are in Japn, so not sure where EL ends, but they counted the Strawhat Flashbacks that happened randomly in the middle of EL as their own Contained DVD Volume, not part of the 9th Season XD)
Season 10 - Ice Hunters & Thriller Bark Chapters - ??? (Expected, as the 9th Season is called "Enies Lobby", it's easy to assume the next Season begins with the next Story arc)Source: One Piece Rainbow and the Season 9 DVDs
So, Not sure HOW FUNimation is gonna count the Seasons at all!
They could either Follow this, Follow the US Seasons list (which would be a bit odd with those extra 39 episodes added in there) or they could split it up into the Story Arcs like they did with Dragon Ball Z (Which would actually make it closer to Toei's Numbering actually) -
I have a question for anyone who owns the set already.
Because me being in Scotland im going to have to import it from the us when i find somewere selling it. Anyway what i want to know is if its a strict region 1 dvd.
I live in region 2 area so usually dvds wont work, But the Dragonball Z sets work perfectly on my pc and any dvd player. While my movie 8 dvd only plays on 1 dvd player ( luckly the one in my room ) but wont play on my pc unless i use a program to change the region.
So would anyone be able to check on there pc by changing there region to region 2 and checking for me? Thanks in advance for anyone that goes through the trouble for me.

It's region 1 only, some of my DVD players won't play it which are region 2 DVD players, my region free DVD players plays it fine. Also if you download VLC I'm pretty sure it ignores the region settings.
-
Also if you download VCL I'm pretty sure it ignores the region settings.
To avoid confusion, I'll just mention that it's VLC, not VCL. But yeah, VLC ignores the region-settings. I've currently got my PC's DVD drive set to R1, yet I can still watch Azumanga Daioh (the UK-release, obviously) on it. And it should be possible to remove the region-limitation on at least some DVD-players. At least it worked for mine, which was a cheap piece of crap that only cost like 60$ and was bought in a food-store. When it works on a player like THAT, I think it's reasonable to assume that it works on most DVD-players.
-

Hmm yea i have VLC didnt know about the the region bit tho so ill try that, usualy windows media player just kicks in. and thats a shame so will ony be able to watch it in my room. I'll survive tho lol.
-
Actually there's a website which has codes most players. Which I'm probably not allowed to post here. Just google on player brand, player type and region crack or region hack. Off course that's all useless if your tv doesn't support ntsc (most recent tv's do).
-
It's nothing I'm interested in but there's no reason you can't post it here. This board is pretty chuck full of piracy.
-
I just thought of something. What if FUNi is considering episodes 1-26 season 1, that would explain why they said they're only in the 20's.
I don't believe it though, maybe they're somewhere in the late 40's, but still finishing up some Krieg episodes, FUNi did say that they do dub out of order.
-
Already suggested that in another thread.
-

.No no no and once again no. Mike told me that Toei considers Skypiea to be part of Season 3 AFTER he told me he was recording for season 3 and AFTER I asked if he meant Skypiea or 52-78. There's no way Season 1 is 26 episodes long.
THE END.

Season 1: Episodes 001-026
Season 2: Episodes 027-143
Season 3: Episodes 144-???Eh?
-
Toei's business model seems to be:
Make anime
Sell it to licensors
Confuse the hell out of everyone
???
Profit! -
I saw that video of Caitlin.
She says they're "Working on" "Somewhere in the 20s", IE the 2nd Boxed set, she never said that's all they've recorded.
and Being as Vivi isn't in that early in the Series, It's possible she just doesn't know. It's possible they've recorded the entire first season, and are now working on the mixing and the Boxed set details for it.
-
If they're working on the 20's, that means they're either:
- Working on Second Voyage
- Working on Third Voyage (NARY YE FORGET, THAT'S FROM 27-39).
Third Voyage has 3 episodes that start with a 2, so maybe they're there, or maybe they're close to it. Who cares? First Voyage isn't even supposed to be out yet. I still think Second Voyage is coming in late July.
-
Season 1: Episodes 001-026

Season 3: Episodes 144-???Eh?
Exactly, thanks for proving my point.
-
I really don't think that episodes 1-26 would be considered a season. They wouldn't even be done with Baratie if that happened, and I don't think Funi would consider ending a season in the middle of an arc for DVDs. I think Episodes 1-53 would be a season, though. It's just 1 episode above 52, which would be the final episode of the 4th set if every set was 13 episodes, which I doubt would happen. It's also the end of Lougetown and the East Blue Arc. Part 2 would be 6 sets long, and the last set of the season will be 12 episodes. Post-Alabasta Crapfest will be exactly one set. Skypiea will exactly be 4 sets, and G G8 1 set, CP9 9 sets, and I don't know for the rest.
-
Exactly, thanks for proving my point.
Was your point how ridiculous that is? If so, then you're welcome.
Lawl @ Skypiea being 4 sets and CP9 being 9 sets.
-
American TV shows end on cliffhangers all the time, just ask Greg. :p
-
So I'm back. Didn't find out anything besides Second Voyage coming out,"Late summer."
Cool thing was that they were having a raffle for P.O.P figures of Luffy, Zoro and Nami. Near the closing of the Dealer's Room today, they were giving them away with any purchase.
-
Wow, I wonder if America will be getting the P.O.P. line of figures here?
That would kick ass, because Robin/Sogeking/any new release wouldn't be so hard to find. -
Was your point how ridiculous that is? If so, then you're welcome.
Lawl @ Skypiea being 4 sets and CP9 being 9 sets.
My point that season 1 could NOT be episodes 1-26, if Skypiea is part of the third season as considered by Toei. So yes… you basically proved how ridiculous it is that Season 1 is 1-26.
-
Oh yeah, I also would like to add that Funimation isn't exactly happy with RightStuf's early release of the DVDs. At least, that's the impression one of the reps gave me when I was talking to someone about it.
-
Well the fans sure were XD
EDIT:
did they say how the DVDs are selling? -

So if you bought something for $2 you got a $45 P.O.P?
I wish I was there.
-
EDIT:
did they say how the DVDs are selling?Nope. They sure were promoting it though. Some of the reps were wearing shirts that had the ad on them, they were giving out flyers and they did the P.O.P thing.
@DeityofDestiny: Nope. Funimation was only selling DVDs. You had to buy a DVD to get one of the figures. I would've gotten something but they didn't have anything I wanted.
The DBZ: Burst Limit demo they had out there was pretty cool though.
EDIT: Might I add that Viz never came to their own panel, thus it was cancelled. Weak as hell.
-
Hahah, Funi knew about the RightStuf slip?
I wonder if they told RightStuf to cease shipping on the DVDs till the street date? -

Oh. I would've just bought something and if I didn't want it…. Sell it on ebay. xD
Lawl @ Viz never showing up. Way to treat their fans.

Seriously? I didn't know they were giving them away (thought it was just the raffle). I guess I should have went today… Oh well. At least I was able to find a Brook figure there for $8. Apparently, it was the only one. Good thing I grabbed it!

They're not happy that every review under the sun has been overwhelmingly positive? What the hell ever. It's a great DVD set and it's getting great reviews. People are buying it either way.
-
There was this magazine I flipped through yesterday called Animation Magazine. It was the May issue and in their monthly calendar a picture of the Season One DVD set was right there on the 27th amongst listings for other DVDs coming out on that day. Not only that they also had a one page article on Unlimited Adventure. Kinda late on covering the game but it's really nice to see this new dub getting exposure in publications that aren't strictly about Japanese comics and animation.
-
@Gerchak:

No, the point is they're not happy that many of the DVDs were shipped a month in advance. A MONTH. I've heard of pre-ordered DVDs being released a week in advance, but a month is ridiculous. Regardless of whether the fans like it or not, its sloppy business to have a set release date, and then to just say, "Y'know, we don't feel like waiting another month. Let's just send them out now!"
In any case, the main annoyance on FUNi's part is probably because the DVDs were sent out early without their permission. After all, FUNi decides on the release dates, not Right Stuf.
-
I don't think FUNi even cares. Release dates are broken all of the time, sometimes heavily. I remember the recent Tenchi Universe complete series set being out a month early around this time last year at Best Buy, and the Case Closed Season One DVDs about a year before that. It happens, and no one really cares in the end.
-

This doesn't financially cripple Funimation in the slightest. The only way Funi would hurt from the early release date is if people were uploading torrents of the DVD's and people are keeping their eyes on the trackers to make sure that doesn't happen.
So other than raising a bitch fit about when they started making money off of these DVD's, I see no disadvantage to the early release for Funi.
-
Show me where he/or she said that FUNimation would be financially hurt because of these early releases. They're making more or less money because of this obviously isn't the point.
