I hate how as soon as Rui began to blossom as a character, the Poseidons knock the Chameleons out of the tournament. That scene between him and Hiruma was heartbreaking for me.
Yeah…I want Rui to appear more often, even if he won't play anymore...he just became a great character, he has to be used again.

Rui was awesome, apart from the rest of the devilbats, he's probably one of the few people Hiruma would call a teamate or friend. Sadly his team aint very strong at all, with only him (I think) actually being able to do anything.

I think it's more like he's the only one WILLING to do anything…the others are just forced to play. In a way, Rui shows us, what would've happened to Hiruma, if he wouldn't have found teammates like Sena and co. who WANT to play football.

Yea thats what I was thinking lol although I'd say Rui is more like what Juumonji/Toganou/Kuroki might have been like if they hadn't got their ambition to become strong, if that makes any sense.

OMG…Kurita und Juumonji rocked so much in that chapter...besides Deimon winning, there are only two more things I want to see now, thats Sena outrunning that bastard Agon, and Kurita violently burrying him in the ground. Especially the second thing, I wished for Kurita to destroy him ever since Agon hurt Hiruma.

If the one episode I've seen is a reasonable example of how good the anime is, then the manga is roughly a million times better.
I just started getting into this series too, I really like it alot. I just finished episode 10 of the anime and I'm getting started on the second volume of the manga.
I think Eyeshield is one of those mangas that pwns so much, but is overshadowed by others such as Bleach/Naruto etc. Once people read it they enjoy it, usually its because its sport is what puts people off.

Also...Unsui's flashback was...well, just what we've all been expecting. Somehow, it makes me hate Agon even more.

I already hated Agon, so in that case it didn't do much, but it did increase my respect for Unsui. It's hard to have your twin brother overshadow you like that but still have the guts to move forward.
And it was nice to see that Agon wasn't a total ass to his brother all the time. (and man, he looked way better without dreadlocks)
Agon have been the best for some chapters now. How baddas can he be? I like it!
Unsui got my attention in this chapter too. When he isbeside Agon they looks just like the wild dark side and the calm white side :) Like the coverpage some chapters ago.
Yes, I must admit, my respect for Unsui has really increased, up untill this game I just thought of him no more interesting than Amino Cyborgs or Taiyo Sphinx, and now he is probably one of my more favourite 'rival' players.
Agon though, as soon as we saw Shinryuji vs Ojo, I thought he pwned as a enemy, especially the way where Sena just looked at him, compared him to characters like the Huh Brothers and Hiruma and spoke the words:
"I seen some scary guys…but this man is just.....EVIL." that one phrase totally convinced me to realise 'This guy is so gonna pwn.' and he does.

Is Sena really blocking Agons attack? That is a bit wierd. If he just gets pwned like anyone else its kind of dropping his character as an Invincible player with no weakness and all the power you can get.

The whole point of this is Agon getting pwned…he must be crushed, that is his purpose as both, a bastard and a villain.

The fact that Agon doesn't hold his brother in complete contempt (like he seems to do everyone else) it makes me wonder . . .
What would happen if Unsui were to get seriously injuired on the field and forced to sit the game out? Or would he just say "feh, you were weak, that's why this happened." Or would he go psycho?
I think the conclusion of this match will result/have somethign to do with Agon being more respectful to Unsui. Because Agon has to go through some sort of change as a result, and anything too much would break his character too much.

About the Match, i dont think the Devilbats will beat them, cuz that would screw the story with Shinryuu being the best. But how about a tie?
Dunno, personally I think they'll win this match and possibly Ojo's then they'll lose against Dinos/Seibu.

That's like saying that Goku beating Freeza would screw with the storyline because Freeza is the strongest being in the universe.
Wow, even though Deimon starts a huge counterattack, with a good amount of success, things still look hopeless.
Sena manages to get Agon out of bounds, Kurita pushes back Yamabushi, the crowd begins to come back, but throughout the game Hiruma still looks concerned as hell. Shrinryuuji kicks a field goal, widening the gap to 21 points. Monta seems determined to do something, but I have no idea what. Earlier he got beat by Ikkyu (again), so I guess it involves that. Hirukma seems to like whatever he said.
Damn, this is going to be close as hell.

Yea it was a pretty good chapter, and here was me thinking it was just gonna be more scoring for Deimon untill they won, obviously its not gonna be.
I'm surprised that Hiruma's box of tricks doesn't include any attempts to force a forfeit on a game that's clearly being lost. For example, try and get the fans in an away game to pour across the field at the two-minute warning, not the final gun.
I forsee Deimon winning by one point. And that one point will probably be by Musashi.

Basic rundown:
Now that Yukimitsu has joined the fray, Deimon has three receivers for three different kinds of passes:
Short pass -> Taki
Mid-length pass -> Yuki
Long pass -> Monta (cause he's the ace receiver)
Unsui makes a comment that while Deimon is not perfect and complete in it's talent, they are now have the most top-level offense.
However, since this is Shinryuji Naga, they manage to cover all of the receivers, so the only thing left for Deimon is a Hail Mary pass. (hence the title of this chapter, Ave Maria) They note that thus in football the ultimate "god" you can pray to is the Virgin Mary.
HOWEVER, Hiruma (in one of the coolest panels of his yet), says that a demon doesn't rely on God, and thus apparently breaks out one INSANE Hail Mary pass. (should we call this a Hail Satan or Hail Beelzubub?)
Will the pass succeed? We'll find out next week. Go Monta!!
