Yeah. I meant ending.
I'M GOING NUCKING FUTS, SO SUE ME! :(

If only we could blame K-F for the 3rd opening showing up 14-odd episodes early.
you know even if they do call it Loftra on the TV one, at least we know it's a 4Kids name thanks to Mato. Honestly, it's such an odd thing and we never heard of it, where as we've heard of Varse and Wyler… I would have assume Funimation changed the name for some reason.
and on that note an edit:
I was just playing Pirate's Carnival and i FINALLY got to Skypiea =D
Anyway, the game against Eneru says Shandra doesn't it? So if Toei really is all about consistency, they shouldn't have even asked Funi to go with Loftra. Another reason I'm going to call BS on that title. If it turns out to be true ,then Toei just doesn't know what in the hell they're doing and don't know the meaning of the word consistency.
It's like everyone is turning on One Piece aye aye aye
@Ao:
K-F has their reasoning for chosing it or whatever. There is a mythological connection to the name ENel but they've dropped the ball translating terms and names several times. I mean, don't they still use the term "Beli"? And "Bon Clay"instead of Kurei? Later that name was romanized and K-f saw that they'd mistranslated it. Ener has never been romanized so it's up in the air but both Greg and Mato agreed that the name was probably a play on the english word "Energy". Meaning it should be pronounced "inner" which is pretty much how they're saying it on the dub just with the "oo" sound at the end.
I would really hate it if they out of nowhere started calling a term they've been using sine the begining. You can't just change your terminology in the middle of something!

You can too if it conflicts with the actual terms. Otherwise, the translation becomes rather questionable. It really is amazing to see how many people have taken K-F's translations as 100% law, what with EVERYONE using "nakama" whether it be in a discussion or in a different fansub or scanlation.
Anywho, creativity got the best of me.

With some snipping and pasting, it's Gum Gum Fireworks uncut.
Also, someone mentioned a while back that the Captain was inexplicably in the forest when the cut occured during the attack. I can confirm that this is NOT true and that we DO see him flying right into the forest, as he's the very first one to go flying.
I also must note that, for whatever reason, Laura Bailey's "Look, he's all stretchy" sorta makes me melt. DAMN YOU, SEXY WOMAN! :(
@Ao:

Does that mean that it's been proven that "Beli" is an incorrect translation? Because I seem to recall them mentioning in a translators-note quite recently that "Regardless of what 4Kids might make you think, they do not use fruits as money in the OP-world" or something like that. And they tend to do a lot of research with the names. (Though, writing "Cocoro" instead of "Kokoro" seems like something they just randomly changed because they felt like it…)

You mean like the stunning amount of research they did where they called Arlong's species "mermen?"
Since when did 4Kids actually say that the currency in One Piece were fruits?
Laura Bailey's "Look, he's all stretchy" sorta makes me melt. DAMN YOU, SEXY WOMAN! :(
Indeed :s
Maybe she should have been Robin's VA as well
Since when did 4Kids actually say that the currency in One Piece were fruits?
The shell?
Ohh!! One time Nami said that's worth "50 kajillion berries" or something, and Luffy was like "OhOoooH!! I like berries" (and his mouth watered) Then Sanji was like "Stop THinKin bouT yA StOmacK, ya HeArh?"
Nah. Robin's voice is very nice as is. I just hope Laura voices Califa later on.

"10% Survival Rate! Sarori, the Mantora Master!"

Yeah, I was kinda noticin' that myself, how that one guy ended up in the forest and yet he had scrapes all over 'im like he was fighting. Nice to get that cleared up for me.
And yes, it was a very good call getting Laura Bailey to do the voice of Conis. She did sound very cute in that clip.

…really?
I could see that happening, though.
Nah. Robin's voice is very nice as is. I just hope Laura voices Califa later on.
Again, Tsukento, I gotta come back to you. Finally, someone else thinks Robin's new voice is fine the way it is now. All I'm hearing is that she sounds bitchy. I for one love her new accent-less voice.
And yeah, again, Laura as Califa would be really nice now that I think about it.

Where'd you hear this from?

I've learned NEVER to trust your word as you exagerate shit a GREAT deal, like when you supposedly quoted things from the Viz translation that were nowhere to be found.
Where'd you hear this from?
Wikipedia, it's one of those episode titles that are BS.
You guys cannot be sure of that, I bet if you were to contact one of the ADR directors they could verify the titles.

Not when Wikipedia's supposedly a source. No thanks.
Should not somebody at the very least try to make contact for concrete proof?

I'm just saying it would look bad if they just randomly start using a new translation. Like if K-F started to refer to Enel random as Eneru to go with Funi's dub, it wouldn't be a good idea. Same for Belli/Berri. And I can understand someone using Belli to keep from the confusion of the food, has it been prooven by Oda that it's Berris yet or something?
And Bon Kurei? When has his name come up recent for them to keep using Bon Clay?
You act as if I'm one of those K-F Elitist or something. I hate it when people use "nakama", "Shichibukai" "Yonkou" and other words that have translations but people refuse to use them.
I also don't watch K-F at all. Unless its the only thing available on Youtube, or Veoh.
Which is why fansubbing is bad, they make a lot junk and when an official romanizations come by the fans of old have a hard time adjusting to them, refusing to let go.
K-F already admitted that they were wrong about Bon Clay. This is old news.
@Yuugi's:

It's too bad that alot of that "junk" is better quality, released earlier, and cheaper. Seriously though… it's too bad. I hate that official stuff is decades behind.
A prime rib example of some potato quality "official dvds" would be the Bobobo Illumination ones. Filled with spelling errors, dubtitles, audio hichups, volume distortion, aspect ratio extortion, and subliminal messages from Illumination.
I'm workin' on some new "edits" if you guys wanna see 'em.
@Tommy:

Quite the contrary
We demand them.

Well, where can I contact Mike Mcfarland?

I thought I was the only one!

This pretty much sums me up. I'm hoping that when the DVDs are out, the subtitles are well done and fan terms will become a thing of the past.

'Alot' is not a word, unless I am blind.
The thing is though, we're talking about titles that are released legally. Look at Gundam, we still have people spelling Kamille 'Camille', Char Aznable 'Sha Aznavoul/whatever' etc. My point is fans think they're always right and they will not accept being told asymmetrically.
EDIT:
Well, where can I contact Mike Mcfarland?
But I'm already 99% sure we have to put up with 'Wyler' and such.
@Yuugi's:

Only fans ignorant of the truth. But then you powerful dark lords try misguide them, like Tsukento does. He always tells his followers that "One Piece doesn't have any curses because it's a show for kiddies". Nooooo it doesn't have any "curses" originally because the Japanese language doesn't have any.
It's deception I say!!
Don't be fooled by the lieeeees
Shut up, Lobster.
It's obvious that by 'doesn't have any curses because it's a kids show' he is referring to how in English a show like One Piece–for a young audience--would not need cursing in it at all (their are ways of sidestepping any major cursing). When adapting the script from the Japanese version one would not need to adapt using language that would be conidered vulgar in English because yes, Japanese doesn't have cursing AND because you're adapting a kids show so even if one were to try to match the tone of the line in the Japanese tongue one really need not use cursing. Perfect example being Luffy's 'Send him flying' line. While it could be rendered as 'Kick your butt/rear/what-have-you' it wouldn't require cursing.
@Tommy:
Again, Tsukento, I gotta come back to you. Finally, someone else thinks Robin's new voice is fine the way it is now. All I'm hearing is that she sounds bitchy. I for one love her new accent-less voice.
her new voice is fine, it's the bitchiness that's coming with it. It's NOT in her character AT ALL. She doesn't have attitude, she doesn't use sarcasm and she doesn't call crew members by their names. I think the problem is you're still in the "It's so much better than 4Kids" phase where as most of us have moved on and are looking for ways for Funi to improve the dub. It's NOT a bad thing it does not make us picky and Mike wants us to help him. I'm sure of it. He told me he wanted to get OP right so we're just trying to help.
I noticed another problem in this episode. Pagaya said he crashed the waver…well yes he did but not THAT waver... it's just like when Nami said they read about the waver in the Noland the Liar book... no they didn't. They read about it in the log book. I really wish Funi would pay more attention to this. And Tommy, don't reply to what I just wrote please.
I really wanted to give my opinion on the episode saturday as per usual but I was in an extreme amount of pain due to injuring my back so I was pretty much without computer access until I could actually move again.
In any case I liked the episode. I thought the jokes were well played and I feel Nami's VA is doing much better than people give her credit for, and of course Usopp's VA is doing great work. I was also happy to hear Gum Gum Fireworks as well, and hey no flashes either. So that's a good point as well. The other voice actors did well too in my opinion, and even Luffy's VA is getting really good at being Luffy.

Fixed =D
16 fixes…......

16 fixes…......
Well I've always thought that of course. XD
I just meant you know… that they're slipping into their roles really smoothly.

I might be misunderstanding what you mean but I was under the impression that he was taking the fall for Luffy… and I remember it being the waver they found on the ship, so its the correct waver to be talking about.
I myself must be insane, seemingly. I seem to never detect any sort of emotion from Robin's voice actress' performance, or at least none that would indicate her as being a *itch.
I don't think I heard anything attitude-ish this episode, but I have heard a slight snap in her voice in a few others.
Remember when she "told Nami off" a couple of episodes ago? And when she was describing the grand compass to her? She practically laid Nami out with that tone.
Heh, I can't imagine how much of a b*t$h she will sound like when Funi dubs her "Miss All Sunday" character… But atleast then, it will actually be in character.
You mean when she said, "Hey, Navigator"? That wasn't a telling off.
when she said "seven million, genius" there was sarcasm there.
That's just over exaggerating. Robin sounds just fine. I like this Robin more than the Japanese flat Robin.
also:
"Not quite, Miss Navigator. You're trying to fix something that's not even broken. We should be trying to find a way to get to sky island. You should really learn to trust your instruments."
You should really learn to mind your manners Robin. It was okay up until the last line.
"You don't have to kill every living thing we meet, it's kind of rude."
Well so's your attitude Robin.
"I wish those birds were as easy to see as they are to hear."
Robin doesn't complain.
"Hey, Navigator. What does the log pose say?"
Just…. isn't right.... she should be saying Miss Navigator for one.
Would you rather have the southern accent?
There you go.
Again, you guys should get out of the "At least 4Kids doesn't have the show anymore" mode and try to help Funimation really make the series good. Mike TOLD ME he wanted to get One Piece right, all I'm doing is helping.

But that's being obsessive. I mean I know there are some people on this forum (not mentioning any names) have this perfectionist attitude about what the dub SHOULD be, but honestly there's just no reason to act all OCD over it.
and I know you're going to say that it's because I'm too lax about it, but hey I enjoy the Funi dub and I know you guys do too. So honestly why can't we all just get along?
Them's sounds like fighting words to me.
Would you believe I was going for the love and peace stance?
and honestly I'd probably say the same thing you guys are saying if Mike McFarland himself didn't ask for my help. I got a chance to get it perfect so I'm going to take that opportunity.
Would you believe I was going for the love and peace stance?
Dear Eneru, there're stances!?
Well I wouldn't call them stances exactly…
To be honest I'm not sure what I'd call them. :wassat:
So we're getting Eneru huh didn't see that coming, but seriously an IQ test was this in the original title or did I miss something?
