@kouch_lee:
Guys (and girls), I feel ashamed to say all this time I referred to P3P I meant so say P3:FES. . . Since I don't own a PSP and right now my economic situation is kinda crappy, so I wanted to concentrate on PS2 games. BUT, seeing how P3P takes away that AI controled characters stuff, well, I'm starting to plan a "friendly stealing" of a friend's psp. I know he doesn't use it anyways, soo. . .yeah. . .
Oh, and I'm usually more of a fan of a rpg because of its atmosphere, characters, music, background, settings, story. . .than the fight mechanics. If its original, hell, all the better! I do get annoyed by too many consecutive random fights, but I can live with it. . .
Also, more stuff: I searched around ebay for some MegaTen games: found Nocturne (Lucifer's call around here, which I think is the director's cut version with Dante as a easter egg) at a reasonable price, and P3:FES at a quite bigger price (P3 is even more expensive). Also, it's incredibly hard to find that Soulless Army, and it's incredibly expensive, and King Abbadon was never released in Europe. . .Damn it. . .
Still, I'll try to find a cheap Nocturne and I don't know, maybe I'll try the PSP option for the P3P seeing how it's quite the improvement over the PS2 versions.
Oh, I wasn't aware you were European. Yeah anything I suggest potentially goes out the window if you're not in North America. But if you can find either Raidou game you won't regret it. Just be aware that King Abaddon is a direct sequel to Soulless Army. You get a slight recap but the best experience is still playing them in order, plus you can get some save file bonuses carrying Soulless Army to King Abaddon.
Also Nocturne/Lucifer's Call is a director's cut… but it's also the sole release the West got so don't concern yourself on that front. The worst part is there's a version that came with King Abaddon+ that has Raidou as your guest character instead of Dante and we never got it. :(
As far as several consecutive random battles I hope Digital Devil Saga has steeled you, because Shin Megami Tensei is lord high master of shitting random battles down your neck. But in an assuredly enjoyable way.

@Elisabeth:
Because of this whole discussion I thought I'd study the whole MegaTen world a bit more, and so I asked my friend God wikipedia. Game list is a bit scary… :)
Definitely give the rest of MegaTen some consideration if you've only touched upon Persona 3/4. They're great gateway games into an overall fantastic franchise. I've been digging into it for the last 6 years.
Really wish someone would translate if… since it always looked far out, and it's what spins off Shin Megami Tensei into Persona. I'd love to be able to play Devil Summoner too. Persona and Raidou reference it a lot and the premise of the first one is really interesting.
My favorite so far has been the main series, Shin Megami Tensei. I played most of 1, I'm nearly done with Nocturne, played a cycle of Strange Journey, and have 2 at my disposal for some day. Negotiation is one of the most hilarious gameplay mechanics I've ever had to utilize. They always find some way to keep it fresh and interesting.
