What does your parents think about OP? My mom is especially interested in the series. She watches the anime with me!

my dad says luffy has the most annoying voice ever (in the japanese one) haha
-
I would've said they didn't know what it is, but they bought the dvds for me. :P So the have no interest in it.
-
My dad loves it. He's comparing Nico Robin to a character in Alias.
-
I tried to show OP manga to my Dad, and he said…. 'what an ugly characters.....' ^^; then I defended by saying 'but the story is very interesting!!' and he said 'I don't understand at all....' ^^; well...I can't blame him, my Dad doesn't interest in anime manga anyway :P
-
Well… my mom thinks hearing the Japanese is funny, particularily when they say words in English (or try, anyway). She just overhears a bit from another room though, that's the limit to her OP experiences.
-
My dad's okay with it, though he prefers FMA.
-
My mom and dad have no idea what it is, and I fear explaining it to them. -__- My mom would probably be shocked by the violence and my dad would just make fun of every thing he could possibly find to make fun of it.
-
My parents just give me blank stares and ask, "Why do you watch.read this?" I've tried to get them into it but they just think its like a little kid cartoon

My parents have no clue of what One Piece is. I'll show them…
-
My parents know what it is, but have no interest in it.
Wait, They do have an interest, but it's hostile. They believe I do nothing but read OP (technically true. It's difficult while seeping/showering), and keep telling me to read "serious litterature". Appearently Discworld and Starwars are insufficient; My mother has bullied me for months, trying to get me to read "the da vinci code".
So everytime I say "I'm already reading a book" or "can't come now, reading" She always yells in that special mother-authorative voice "You're not reading One Piece, are you?!!" Much in the same way she'd have aked whether I was taking drugs. My father hates it too, accusing me of "hogging the 'net" after I've discovered KF.
-
I think that people who even have parents who are interested in manga/anime are lucky, cause then you don't have to spend all your money on watching animes alone. especially one piece mommy's and daddy's.
-
My mom doesn't even know it exist nor do I care to enlighten her on the subject.
-
Well in leaving my stuff lying around, my mom started to read One Piece.
She's been enjoying it.
Big props for Vol.9! -
No interest there ;D mom only once said "wow, what a sexy guy" after seeing Arlong. My mom is really a cynical person XD
-
My mother thinks anime is bad, so I've never told her about it. My dad thinks I'm too old for cartoons. xD
-
When I was watching the DUB, my dad kept on making fun of Sanji's voice…
I have to admit it is pretty funny to hear it.
My mom's heard of it because I wouldn't do anything until it's over in Saturday mornings. She keeps forgetting the name though. -
My mom knows I have One Piece manga and I o to this site. She does not care
-
I'm too old for my parents to be involved in that area of my life. They don't even know it exists. They don't care about the existence of any anime or any animated series at all.
-
My dad,
A man of calculation, education, rationality, and Shakespeare.
Whose only experience with Japan was teaching English at a Japanese foreighn exchange/immagartion school.
Who has never shown the slightest interest in anime/manga.Looked up from reading the newspaper while I was watching one of the dubbed episodes (the Gaimon one) and said…
"They make those things so cheaply when they adapt them over here."
Then looked back down nonchlantly.I like to have proof that the dubs suckyness is not just the creation of some sort of bias we have.
-
Well… My dad doesn't seem interested. For one, he can't read subtitles very fast, so the subs aren't in the picture.
On the other hand... My mother LOVES One Piece. She's watched up through about episode 96 with me, and she's lovin' it, I'd say. Though, I got her hooked through the H-K subs, so she's a bit confused -- she still calls Usopp "Liar Bu". XD Still, she says Luffy is her favorite character. Who can really blame her? He's awesome. I can't wait until she sees the later parts of Alabasta. Let alone Water Seven!

My mom doesn't understand it at all and my stepdad hates it because he says it's causing me to break the law (is downloading fansubs breaking the law?).

I believe so. Doesn't stop me, though.
But, then again, 4Kids' version is a crime in-and-of itself. =P

**So, really, I'll just be correcting the crime 4kids did. Don't think that'll slide with my stepdad though..
-
Well… If you want the anime, uncut, then you basically have three choices:
1. 4Kids DVDs (God only knows when THAT will happen)
2. Bootlegs (Poor quality, but fairly cheap)
3. K-F fansubs (best choice, but it's still illegal and probably won't get you in a good position with your dad if he finds out. Then again, same goes for the bootlegs...)
My solution? Just buy the tanks and use Stephen's scripts.
-
Let's not forget, 4kids have dubtitles only.
-
I went with 3 anyway. I just put all the downloaded files I have in a hidden file just in case any suspicious people to wander in and look at my computer. I think they know I still download, but they're trying to catch me in the act.
