I've practically decided that I want to cosplay IceKing from Adventure Time.
Need recommendations on paint that I can apply that won't melt off and get stuck in the beard/wig I'll have to wear.

so my roomate who's moving out, made a couple of swords out of his art rulers and masking tape, gesso, etc. not too bad. just need a new paint job from the ugly brown. I think I'll dress up as shanks for one day at anime north, and use that. need a better cape though. :\
@Arabee: I have no clue….but all your fabric looks super soft.
So my husband's cousin (who I am guess would be my cousin now too.) and her friends are doing Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu for ACen. And of course my husband is the one making them. I am kinda helping.... Anyway, we got the Pichu ears done yesterday before he went over to work with them on the cosplays.
I think he got the Pikachu ears done as well but left them with the girls.
Areebee: I hope that's Inazuma, because that would be so rad ___
Not Inazuma but close enough. We're a couple of people who're teaming up as Ivankov and his dancers. I'm gonna be the one with the bunny hood. And yes, the fabric is super soft -
!! I remember that bunny guy! I thought he was awesome. That fabric makes me want to cuddle you.
Oh you know, that's even better. XD I love that guy.
i want to see the bunny guy cosplay more than you'll ever know . I wish I'd see it in person T____T
!
!
Raichu ears are done! And my daughter begged me to take pictures of her eating her waffle while wearing Raichu. "Just pretend that you found a wild Raichu eating!" was what she told me.
Cute! Wow she looks just like you, Omni!
Oh wow I finished Sabo's shorts the other day, my first attempt at making any sort of pant and I'm amazed it wasn't as hard as people told me >> Though they aren't perfect. I hate simplicity with a passion, these shorts have no ass room, and they're 3 sizes APPARENTLY too large XP They fit (barely) so >> I'm just dieting to help them fit a bit better lol. Hoping to get the coat knocked out this weekend if not then the next, then it should all be done. I hope I get the wig and goggles in time, they're just barely going to make it XP
i told my friend i didn't want to bother her with my sewing, but she insisted I come over. she fixed up my chopper vest for me and i ended up helping her with some drawing and cutting stuff for her work placement. I still think I was interrupting her. >_> I still have to fix the leggings. we didn't have time for that.
I figured out a game plan for my weekend at anime north. I gotta commute by public transit, which is 2 hrs one way. I'm gonna go with all my nominochi stuff (flea market) on friday night. come back for friday night. re pack my suit case with food and an extra change of clothes and head out again saturday morning and camp out the second night. I got my young manager interested in going, but we're short staffed, so she's not sure yet. We just hired a new supervisor though, so maybe he can take a shift?
Eeee A-Kon is so close @_@ Gonna stock up on Bawls and 5 Hour Energy and get that coat DONE XD
I hope everyone has a good time at Acen this weekend :D So wish I was there ;A; Next year, for sure ;D
wish I was at ACen too D: YOSHIKI T______________T!!! and all the amazing cosplay going on!
I'm excited for A-Kon too x.x yet worried cause I need to get some stuff done, this altered, that altered. Ultimately, we'll be wearing more OP at Otakon I think than A-Kon xD
GDI 7/11, they don't have Bawls right now ;A; What is going to fuel me through my sewing binge…
Hey guys and gals (mostly gals). Long time no post.
Semesters over so noooow..i work two jobs. Saving up for cost of living now, but cosplay is on a down slop for me. Down slop meaning output is not as it once was and recycling is the norm now. I was debating the idea for my sanity and time and money, that'd i'd do a two-day cosplay interwebathon, where I make a cheap and awesome cosplay in the course of two days. And I update it on here every few hours to show progress…just curious for interest. Upcoming cosplays to do for this year is Enel and that's that. I'll prolly take him around the con circuit for a good stretch.
First stop with the Heavenly King is Otakon 2011. And that costume is all the unnecessaries i'll be spending apart from living cost when down there. I know I blasphemed..forgive me u,u
anyone going to AX here? and who r u gonna cosplay as??
I'd be interested in seeing this, Akutabi_Gamma.
I did a Luffy after the timeskip on AnimeXtreme on Porto Alegre-RS in Brazil, I don't have much great photos at the moment but I'll try to post some of them here or on my future account of cosplay.com soon.
A two day cosplay thing sounds like a great idea XD I'm going to try to do a couple of those over the summer, I keep selecting things I don't have the means for so gonna go with some awesome characters I can make on the cheap >< Unfortunately none of them are One Piece, those are all of my big projects >>
I got a couple of buisness cards for cosplay sewers this weekend. now I just need money
I need some help choosing a wig for Mr. 3. Any of you ladies and gentlemen wanna give your opinion on the following?
Is this long enough?
That would work for the base but you're going to need extensions and wire to make the three, there's not enough hair on the wig for that XD
Oh yeah, forgot to write that it's only for the base. I was thinking of buying a pack of extensions from amphigory.com for the three.

I'm gonna wait until I've solved most of my problems/ have everything on hand b4 I start the marathon feed/update frenzy. And thanks for the feedback. totes appreciate it.
Also don't know if anyone would know but how would I go about making the long ear lobes that Eneru has. I have a few ideas but I want people to let me know before I mention em and kind skew everyones thinking. I'm just curious if there's some method/ way I'm not thinking about.
SK cosplay is still working on getting the pics together from the Fanime 2011. We'll be posting most of it in a soon to be made Fanime thread. But for now here's one from a photoshoot that I got dragged into.
<3 it looks great hun.
thanks omni. The magma dog isn't completed just yet but it was do for a reveal. My brother worked on the base form shape, then I came in on the detail parts like covering it in Model Magic and creating the ears, fangs and color. I got some of my mihawk up on coscom
I saw some of your Mihawk on facebook from other people's Fanime albums, it looked really good. But I'll have to check it out on your coscom as well.
And the magma dog looks really good. Your brother and yourself did an amazing job on it. I can't wait to see the finish.
can not deny that I love your Akainu Kaizoku-Syn . especially the make up… my god. YOU LOOK AMAZING
I'm considering doing Strong World Luffy (Suit version) for a future cosplay, and was wondering if anyone has any tips for making the cannon he has? Only thing I can really think of is cardboard, but afraid that might be too light or not hold up good.
Reference pictures would be greatly appreciated too :D

Cardboard could probably work. I know a lot of people make props/armor out of cardboard and they seem to hold up well.
Not making a Strong World cannon, but my husband is making Wiper's cannon and what he is doing is making it out of a mix of cardboard tubes covered in bondo and foam pieces and wood. I have pictures of the progress in my personal cosplay thread.
uh…is the the beard part attached to the hood? Or are you doing it as a separate piece? Also do you have anymore shots?
Do you plan on leaving eyeholes in teh hood? Or were you just going to have it go above your eyes?
^ Just realized this guy is wearing Iceburg's suit jacket, lol. Now the urge to draw Iceburg in fishnets and garters is growing stronger!
OK here are my suggestions:
Take a poncho/cape pattern. One like this Make whatever one, you decide to use out of scrap fabric. This will be your practice one. With the practice one, cut out the body part of the fabric to how you need it to be. So basically make it more into a skinned rabbit look. Then alter/add unto the hood part. Keep playing around with it, until you get it perfect. Then take it apart and make it out of your real material. Don't forget to add the bunny ears though!
Another option would be to take a bunny costume pattern like this for just the hood part. Then use a bunny costume pattern for a baby/toddler to make the body the hood is attached to. Of course, I suggest that you still make it all out of scrap fabric first and alter/add where needed, before making it out of your real fabric.
Thanks Omni. I've gotta find some scrap fabric to experiment with.
Guys I got my Laki wig in today! Yay! Expect pictures soon!
OMG can not WAIT to see your WIG .!!!! So excited for it ;u;
OK Laki wig is mostly styled. Not for sure if the curl will hold up, so I'll have to see if I can figure something out.
Before the style

After the style

Omni ur wig is liek OMG awesoem!
Seriously though it's looking great. I gotta say I'm so pumped for the Shandian group O
<3333 I seriously can't wait for the Shandian/Skypiea group either. Although I have a feeling, I may be alter Laki's outfit a little. I'm not sure I am going to be comfortable showing off my belly, so Her top might be longer. lol Lame.
I'm probably not gonna be able to do it, but I was planning on trying an Enel cosplay for next years NemaCon… instead of the drum i'd have plasters (like in a pic I saw) and probably bandages to cover my torso. the trousers will be rather damn hard... and knowing my luck it won't happen D'X
only felt compelled cause it's roasting in NemaCon, and Enel is a bit more of an airy cosplay ; u ;
People, have anyone seen Shackey cosplay? I mean, she's too awesome not to cosplay as!

im gonna be a newkama for AX '11 as well :D
You're kidding?! Which one?
Hey guys, I need opinions! What kind of fabric should I use for Laki? I'm thinking something that is a more natural fabric or has animal-like skin qualities. Since the Shandians are similar to native americans. I'm kinda leaning towards either Linen or Moleskin, but I am not 100% in love with either one.
