I can understand if he was fired up about saving Zoro, Nami, Usopp, or Sanji… but Robin? They've barely interacted. They have no experiences with each other.
Why does Luffy care about saving Robin so much? (spoilers)

Robin=A crewmember
Thats enough of a reason for almost anyone in One Piece to risk their life.
-
Because his love is unconditional, like a puppy =P
No, in all seriousness, it's because he's extremely simple-minded. What Luffy wants, Luffy gets. I don't think he would have a petty concept of time like most of us do, like "I know this-and-this person for longer than the other, so they must mean more to me".

@Dr.:

That's a pretty stupid question.

@raj:
QFT.
Robin was willing to give her life to protect people that she had just met, so Luffy is returning the favor.
And that's really all that needs to be said. I'm not even going to go into the theory on my sig.
-
The picture above is pretty much the point. You have to take two different points into considerration which Luffy knows. First she saved his life twice directy. Second she has thrown her life away for the rest of the strawhats. Nodody from the crew has ever done such a sacrifice. There are some more points to mention but i think that is enough.

yeah im pretty much siding with this quote here
-
Does Luffy know/believe that Robin's talents will be essential for finding One Piece?
-
Well, she wants to live, that warrents Luffy saving her don't it?
Also coupled with the fact that she's said she's going to sacrifice herself for the, and that she saved him way back in Ara. That and she's also his friend.

Well, no.
Lucci said he wanted blood. Does that mean Luffy's gonna chop open an artery and ask him to lick?

Fine. But there is at least some nakama or future-value factor. Luffy's an idiot but he doesn't do everything everyone else wants.

The difference being: Lucci is a bad guy, and Robin being his friend, not to mention that she's helped him and the crew multiple times before.

I think she pretty much established her Archaeological knowledge when the ship fell from the sky at the beginning of the Jaya Arc and she validated the existence of Sky Islands. Luffy's not stupid; he has a bit of intuition when it comes to some things.

CAUSE SHE HAZ BIG BOOBS?
(Tra-La-La Note: Both Lucci and Robin are not that good of person at all, so what the hell if he is a " bad guy" and she is a "good guy". That poor man was just doing his job =P)

Lucci was most definitely not "just doing his job". He was doing his job, true, but he was also enjoying it.

I actually never saw Lucchi has much of a bad guy, Kaku too. Lucchi, Kaku, Califa, and Blueno all seemed like that not evil of people. You have to figure, them living in peace for 5 years, being part of a society and friending tons of people….rather the entire point was for their job or not, you have to have a good chunk of good to live 5 years of that.
-
Lucchi not a bad person? Didnt he like kill hostages so that some pirates didnt have anything to negotiate with?
he seems horrible to me, even the other Marines are afraid of him.
Also: Califa is a VERY bad person!! She accuses people of sexual harassement all the time! EVIL I TELL YOU!

It seems horrible to me a woman that hurts a king and a girl trying to do the right thing for the sake of "learn History".

Well, he does live in a world where the moral compass hardly points true north. He's been told he's a good kitty. ^.^
Furthermore, I tend to think he's a victim of Zoan Brain and probably just loves the excuse to act like a brutal animal when he can… if he could get that with piracy, he'd be drawing a skull and crossbones on his back scar.

While I agree on Kaku (not sure about the other two) Rucchi is nothing else but an evil character. There´s plenty of situations that Oda wrote just to prove that.
-
For instance in the Galley-La mansion when Pauly was like "I thought we were friends" Rucchi just gave him the "only you thought so" response. If he has at least some sense of being polite then he would at least wrap it around a bit different in a way to make it seem that he had no other chance. But he didn´t do so because he couldn´t care less.
-
When they left Water 7 he was like "for 5 years we´ve been living on that island. I don´t regret leaving it". Does that make him evil? Not necessarily but it also clearly shows that something that emotional attachment just isn´t his thing.
-
The "I do it for blood" scene. He clearly said that his motivation for being a CP9 agent is because that way even killing is justyfied. He simply enjoys killing people and by my definition that is most definitely an evil attitude.
Putting all together Rucchi has absolutely zero arguments on his side for claiming that he isn´t a very bad person. All these little tidbits form the big picture that he is an ice cold killer.
