D. Gray-man Anime Adaptation!

I am not a big fan of the serie, but this will be interesting to see nontheless. A lot of interesting titles in the fall, Bunko Renkin (or something), this and Death Note. ^^
-
ZOMG! This is going to be awesome ^o^! I have been waiting for this!
Finally it has come! This is going to be awesome.
-
Thanks for the announcement Battle Franky.
After Buso Renkin and Death Note were announced I was hoping this would too. Its going to be great to see this underrated series as a anime.
I also hope Katekyo Hitman REBORN! will be adapted since its now on volume 10. -
!!! WOOT! wow! this is sweet =p
I love the series =p (but obviously OP is better xD)
Exorsists FTW!!

It's cool its coming out, but i see a lot of fillers in the series because its only on vol 7. I liked vol 1 waiting for 2

Oh! Where did I originally post this? :silly:

I hope Hitman REBORN! and Muhyo to Rouji can become an anime as well.

With how far REBORN is and how it technically started after Gintama, I kept thinking that would be the next anime and I would be able to check it out. But then Death Note got an announcement…then Busou Renkin...now D-Grayman. At least if REBORN gets an '07 anime, then it will have a lot more material to work with. (with two series I can see since they're over and can have fillerless runs, but I do wonder about D-Grayman since it doesn't have too much compared to the others)
I do wonder though...can Japanese TV really support all these Jump shows? (we have the three new ones, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach don't seem like they'll ever end, and we also have Eyeshield and Gintama still running)
-
I have read 10 chapters of D-Gay Man and found it promising but dissapointing. Of course, 10 chapters isn't really giving it a chance IMO. Maybe I'll try to get into it again.
-
The whole two first stories in the manga vol. 1 are boring. But once Allen actually makes it to the Dark Religious Organization's headquarters and goes out in the world as a proper exorcist, that's when things REALLY heat up.
I'm so excited about this. However I am a touch worried about fillers since they don't have that much manga material to go from and we lost so much time with the manga-ka being sick for months.
-
Some of you probably already know this but the SJ manga D.Gray-Man is being made into an anime that's being released this October!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
I'm really looking forward to this. D.Gray-Man is one of my favorite "not Bleach/OP/Naruto SJ titles", and is also highly underappreciated in U.S fandom. Hopefully this new anime will give it more spotlight.
-
I've started reading the manga.
and I' m quite excited about the anime coming out~
This is definitly a series I want to continue reading, and watching :) -
YES I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm sure they will have a few fillers since the manga is on Volume 8.
This is very good series even though its very underatted in the West.Heres the translated version of the promo pic:

Nice…
I really like the anime's art style, in that scan. Especially the Earl.
But I'm kinda dissapointed that they only have him, Allen, Kanda and Rinali there.
I suppose they are the most prominent main characters early on and stuff, but I would've liked to see Rabi, Rhode or maybe Crowley in it too. -
I hope it isn't a condensed 26 episode thing. Hope it becomes one of the greats, I really like it.
-
Well, apparently the team behind the animation is TMS Entertainment, which is also known for Meitantei Conan and Lupin III.
I guess you can call that pretty good credentials, although Conan I don't consider high animation, the same goes for early Lupin III. But if the promo images are anything to be judged then we should have good stuff come October.
-
Ooo, very nice.
Hmmm, I wonder if the animators are going to bother to draw all of the Earl's different hats?

just finished downloading the raw
I only checked out the opening and skimmed a little so far (gotta leave for class soon).
Not bad. I just don't like the breaks in the opening song. -
Heres the opening of the anime:

The opening is alright, going to have to agree on the breaks though. They serve no purpose and bring it down a grade.
I don't like the ending theme very much, though I can think of MANY ending themes that are worse. I think I will be skipping it if I still decide on watching the show.
-
That was so awesome! I've read all the current D.Gray Man manga and I can't wait to watch the anime.
-
Quick sub here.
-
wow fast.. im going to downlaod this anime looks good
-
Just watched the raw.
I must say, it had very fine animation. Not the best that I've seen, but for a Shonen Jump anime it was pretty damn good. Only Death Note surpasses it.
And I like the OP a lot. It took me a couple tries, but it really grew on me quickly. And I don't mind the breaks in the song. It also had very attractive animation, although I've seen better OP sequences. What I really liked is how they managed to cram so many characters into it, it really is a treat for the fans and a good peek for first-timers at all the cool people to come. However I must say I don't like the ending theme at all. It sounds like it belongs in Sailor Moon or something.
The BGM were passable. Not bad, but nothing that caught my attention either. It's no Naruto or One Piece soundtrack.
Voice acting seems pretty good. Allen sounds a little more girly than I expected, but Sanae Kobayashi is an extremely talented voice actress, so I'm not particuarly worried. the real test will be next episode when a lot more of the main characters are introduced. Really looking forward to Komui and Kanda!
-
How does the guy who ends his sentences with hearts sound? I've could never imagine how that would be "translated" into spoken word (keep in mind I've only seen RAW chapters of D. Gray-Man so I'm not sure how it's translated in the scanlations.)
-
Holy crap fast sub! D/ling now…

It doesn't translate the hearts at all, although his voice actor does a great job of expressing his general tone without them.
I'm impressed so far, this is one of the better anime adaptions I've seen in a while.
-
A lot of fans are bitching how they don't like the Earl's voice, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Did they expect him to sound like a girl?
-
I didn't expect him to sound like an old man. The voice is fitting; I just had a different one in my mind.
-
just watched it, and it was good!
voices were right on, BGM worked, loved the opening. the only difference that i saw was that the chandelier that killed Crea wasn't cross-shaped. did they change it for fear of offending people or what?
judging from the next episode preview, it looks like theyre gonna skip the whole part with Jan (Chapter 2,3). :(
-
Yeah, that bugged me a bit.(Crea's death) Also, she gets killed after they're married in the manga, iirc. I always thought it was ironic that she was killed by a giant cross right after she renewed (can't think of a better word) her faith/belief in god.

This post is deleted!

so, what group's releases will everyone be watching?
the only thing i don't like about Shinsen/TW's release is that they translated Akuma. so instead of 'Akuma,' it says 'Demon.'
-
I watched the RAW of this earlier on, it was quite good, one of those ones which I think I'll end up following in fact.
-
The episode for the most part was great…...
The thing that really killed it, and will probably kill the rest of the series for me, was the Earl's voice. Frankly, I imagined him having a more younger voice, with a trickster type of tone. I never imagined him having a voice of a senior-citizen who can barely speak. Maybe I am being to harsh, but the Earl's voice was something I was really looking forward to. Hopefully I will get used to it.
Other than that major problem, I found the anime adaption quite enjoyable. Cant wait till the next episode.
-
Woot! My first post here at Arlong Park forums. Anyway, one of my friends today told me that D.Gray-Man will never be dubbed "Because it has so many direct religious references" I don't think so, as it alread had a noticeable change from the manga, the alread mentioned chandeier/Cross edit. I think it has a great chance of being dubbed, anybody agree or disagree with me?
BTW, the anime is great, with the exception of Allen's hair being freakishly short… >_<
-
wait, what's wrong with the Earl's voice? it's sinister enough…... how sinister are you expecting him to be?
-
I'll prolly be watching speedsubs cuz I'm impatient
earl's voice is awesome
-
is earl the main character? what other character did the va already do? i can't remember it but the voice sounds very familiar.
-
no, Earl is one of the bad guys….
Allen Walker is the hero....
Earl is voiced by Junpei Takiguchi. not really famous for any other roles.... maybe as Dr. Laughton in Metropolis.
-
If you watched .hack//roots, I heard he did one of the characters in that. (the floating cat, I can't remember his name. Something like Phyllo.)
-
Heh… Bookman's seiyu is Mihawk's... I find that very funny for some reason.
