Arlong was in East Blue when he was captured. Buggy was in the Grand Line. Besides, if Arlong was in Impel Down, don't you think we would have seen him since we know him, and he knows Luffy and Jinbei who were also breaking out? Out of all the nameless fodder, why wouldn't we see Arlong (or anyone else we knew before) if they were there?

I have a horrible feeling the Gura Gura no Mi will make an appearance in the future, and in a capacity completely distinct from Blackbeard. That's why Blackbeard wasn't killed - he hasn't "consumed" a second fruit, per se, only absorbed the abilities of it. The fruit itself has gone on to be reborn (in whatever fashion DFs come into the world). The reason Blackbeard covered Whitebeard (does it annoy anyone else that neither of these characters have beards?) during the process was of course to hide this fact, to boost his legend - the man that survived acquiring two DFs.

It's just a translation "screw up". Hige means any facial hair in general so it could, and probably should, have been 'Whitemoustache', although I must say: Whitebeard sounds way better than Whitemoustache or White'stache in general.

Since the pirates we already have seen from Elbaf, was more or less vikings, and Oda has stated more then once that he likes vikings. Vicky the Viking was what there got him into pirates.The nordic gods have a ton of great storys, which there's could be converted into funny DF and quest.

Well, "El Thor" is an attack from Enel. Maybe IF Enel comes back, he'll land on Elbaf and be considered Thor, IF Elbaf has nordic traditions and beliefs.

He started as a pirate, but due to connection to human slavery rings he got friends in high places. At some point, he suggested an alliance with the government in exchange for amnesty. This would also serve for his own purposes, because by culling weaker pirates, he could birth his New Age.
Wano predictions: There will be 5 acts; All Straw Hats will get fights, some in Act 4; Big Mom Pirates will arrive; Carrot will have her moment, but won't join; Yamato will be a Kouzuki samurai and Wano's Guardian; Shanks will visit Luffy in Act 5; Next arc is Mary Geoise.

He built both of these characters based on the real blackbeard, therefore the naming.
It's not Oda's fault for not knowing the differences in "beard" and "stache" in the English language, nor would he give a damn.
The manga was written in Japanese for the Japanese audience. It's your problem, not his.It makes perfect sense for their names to be localized as "Blackbeard" and "Whitebeard".
No, the translator aren't stupid, they are aware of the difference between beard and a stache. It's a logical CHOICE made, not a screwup.Ever since I saw this exact claim made in op wiki, I've wanted pound some nails into the head of whoever wrote it.

With Moria, Jimbei, Blackbeard, and possibly Boa (if smoker or Sentomaru rats her out) they need to fill their ranks. Not so much for actual power, they have pascifista for that, but to save face and intimidate.
Buggy to me is the perfect candidate. He has a crazily notorious reputation, an army of high bounty villains who follow his every word. To the majority of the world (who don't actually know him except through watching/ hearing about the war) he is probably an incredibly fearsome pirate.
While he wouldn't be of real use for suppressing real threats like the emperors or Dragon, to rookie scrubs, and low class pirates he would be a very useful deterrent.
Let's be real, the winds of the world aren't heading east or west, THEY ALL GO TO CAPTAIN BUGGY!!!!

What I meant in my post was that it merely was the choice of the translaters to translate it as Whitebeard, not White'stache since hige can be read as either of them. It is by no means 'a screwup', I just couldn't find a better term with my definitely far-from-eloquent english that time. Should have obviously gone with 'a choice' since that it logically was. I apologize.
What comes to the real Blackbeard 'Edward Teach' aspect, I forgot it completely and thus couldn't think that far by the time I made that post.
And I don't do OPwikia, so who ever it wrote there has nothing to do with me, nor had I ever seen it. I am sorry to have caused you a headache, I'll try not to do it again..

I've had a similar theory ever since the end of impel down when the marines contacted buggy and said he wouldn't be ignored, however I think they're going to give him the title of yonkou myself. Either way the results will be awesome

The Yonkou are the 4 pirates (now 3) who rule the New World like emperors. Buggy isn't even in the New World. Why would he be up for that spot?

That open Yonkou position is most likely going to be filled by Blackbeard. And anyway, we have no idea how one even becomes a Yonkou. I highly doubt it's from a letter from the WG that says "CONGRATS!!! YOU'RE A YONKOU NOW!!! Watch your ass. We're tracking you."
And a Cap'n John treasure arc would be awesome. We've been getting little tidbits about him for ages. We saw his zombie, Buggy was searching for his loot back during Jaya, and then, of course, the armband.
