Who here is thinking of writing a manga series?

I have a story, but i only did one chapter so far. Its caled India-Gear and its kind of a future fantasy manga. The characters for it are:

Gauge is a male top rank buster racer and a pretty good fighter. He’s known to be pretty flamboyant; jumping at the chance for a challenge, and usually drives his bunkmate, Gadget, Creasy.

Gadget is a strategist and the best female mechanic out there, but she is known to act like a spoiled princess some times. She’s very kind to everyone she meets until Gauge gets on her nerves by making fun of her looks.

Lalita is a young female Indian who has emotional powers. Being very shy, she hardly speaks to anyone, and stays very close to gadget. Lalita sees gadget as a mother figure.

Thats just the lead characters. I'll show chapter one if anyones interested.

The title of my story is Paradise Dreamers.

Jakobi was a young boy who lived a peaceful life, untill he found a pair of white gloves and boots hidden in his father's basement when he was 10. After his two friends, Eiji and Takako try them on, they don't come off. But after Jakobi realises that him and his father were the only ones who could take them off, he becomes even more curious about them. Three years pass, and Jakobi tries them on for the first time. But then, he finds himself at gunpoint. After taking on an armed criminal with only his hands, Jakobi discovers that they give him super strength. It's no happy ending for Jakobi after beating him, though. He threatens to take away everything Jakobi holds dear unless he leaves him home town and never returns. Now, Jakobi is riding the rails, in search of Paradise, the land of dreams.

Usually for names, you go with something that means something that has to do with the character.

For me, my main characters name is Kumo, which translates to Cloud. He has powers over the clouds, so Kumo is appropriate.

Abel T. Grantz, is just a name I thought sounded cool. However, Abel finds out about his brother, who happens to be named Cain [biblical stuff].

Senshiro is a reference to Kenshiro from North Star, since his fighting style and apperance is a direct inspiration from Kenshiro

Alycia is my girlfriend's name. Yeah I'm corny like that.

Jack, is inspired from Jack Sparrow, with the flamboyant attitude, and pirate references.

Naela is was inspired by Noitora and Zaela-Polo from Bleach. Combination of their names, and bam. Naela.

I have a list of names saved into my comp, that translate from different languages into different things in english. Foreign names for characters usually makes it sound cooler imo. Just google "hebrew name for" and put in what your character represents, and you have a win.

I don't really do translations for a lot of my chars. I just named my main char after me, others after people I know, and the rest either sounded cool or just fit. Like one villian I have I named Dante because it sounds hellish and murderish and he sold his soul to the Grim Reaper to gain immortality and loves to kill and spread fear. There's a vampire-style villian too, I'll probably name him Vlad.

On another note, the "anti experiment group" or basically the comics main villains is named the LaVey family. Named after the founder of Satanism, they follow the 7 deadly sins. The way they are named, their last name becomes the initial "L" while they are branded with an animal name. They all were born with Life force in their blood, and swear their allegiance to the Sky Country.

Stephan L. Lion, The Wrath. He has the power of super speed, and control over his long mane of hair [lol bobo and kumadori]. Lion also wields the spear, Dante's Inferno, which uses the power of fire.

Lucifer L. Dragon, The Pride. A skilled swordsman, and control over blood.

Morgan L. Hyena, The Greed. His laughter causes super sonic sounds, that hurt the opponents ears. Also, his glares [sharingan] causes illusions, and pain. Terrible at fighting, more of a tactician.

Barthus L. Sloth, The… Sloth? lol. Super Strength, but has narcolepsy. When his opponents wail on him while asleep, he wakes up and reflects the blows 10 fold.

Aron L. Swan, The Lust. A homosexual who has been possesed by an Incubi. The Incubi attacks in the form of a shadow, and cannot be hit. The only way to kill the Incubi, is to kill Swan.

Bram L. Bear, The Glutton. Eats things, turns them into weapons. Swallows humans whole and takes their powers. Spits acid.

Larsa L. Tiger, The Envy. Commands the Leviathan, a large serpeant like monster. Captain of the ship, The Excommunicated. "Commander" of all the LaVeys, but the weakest of them all.

Sort of the idea is similar to the whole will of the D. concept, but I like it. Mostly inspired by One Piece [D Family/Shichibukai] and D.Gray Man[Noah Family] A few other characters in my manga, include Davy Jones, a guy who can control water, a ninja who can turn into shadows, and a guy who uses shields as his weapons.

For the Israeli name, you want a modern one or ancient one? I'm one myself so I don't have any problem with giving modern. If you want ancient stuff like Saul or David should do.

Damn, you all took it so deeply. Wonder if I can even do it with only what I have. The only thing I came up with as an update is that the main char is obsessed with the importance of dreams. Rookies [manga] style.

There's one idea I borrowed from One Piece, and it's inspried by Devil's Fruits. They're called Gear, accesories (Rings, bracelets, etc.) that when worn give the user unique powers. Actually, I think I got that idea more from MAR.

I'm not nearly as open when it comes to my ideas, I keep most of my favorite ideas locked away. I'm so poessive :D But I've also been working on most of my favorite stories for more than 4 years, and thats just trying to make the characters and plot. THeir 'worlds' still arn't set up yet.

I think the closest one to actually becoming a Manga, is Demons Desert, A jointly written story. The other one is a Dragon based story that I would really like to do as a manga.

Other than that, I can really on say that I love the Way Religion is developed, The way humans make ideas, and of course, Our emotions. I also like very common things, Elements, Demons, angels and all things mythical.

If a non-japanese goes up to a manga publisher in Japan and says "Can you publish this story for me? I want to do it as a manga". The publisher guy or whatever would probably laugh in his face. Even though it may be a super good plot/story/art and stuff, I am pretty sure they wouldnt publish it, just because he is non-Japanese.

Thats all I am saying. Sure he could get it illustrated as a COMIC BOOK, but never as a MANGA.

Alon, Omer, Yair, Sagiv, Aviv, Yosi, Sali, Amir..
Dunno you'd want them though, they sound totally weird, even to me, in English. =X

In this day and age its a very wise desicion. But…it nevers hurts to give a teaser of the story without giving up any of the plot. I only dicuss my story with family and close friends. If i'm beytrayed by them, well hey that sucks.

I do too like to keep some of my favorite manga ideas to myself and only tell very close friends about them.

If I was a good enough artist, I'll try to be one someday, I hope to make some of my ideas into manga.

One idea I can tell you all about, cause it will most likely never be made into manga, is one called Rascal. Got the inspiration from One Piece.

The timeframe for it is still unclear, possibly late 19th century. It's about this 6 year old orphan, homeless boy who meets these happy, adventurous pirates who take him in to give him some food and fresh clothes. The boy has no name, so the captain names him Rascal. After the feast, Rascal leaves the ship and the captain says that he and his crew will return one day and ask Rascal if he'll wait for them. 2 years later, Rascal still waits at the very harbour where he met the pirates. Refusing to accept words from the locals that the pirates are never coming back, Rascal and his fellow orphan friends decide to become pirates and search for the captain and his crew. They fix up and paint an old tugboat and name it the S.S. Peppermint. They set out for an adventure of their lifetime.

I just get my inspiration from thinking. The hardest part is names, so I'm just getting most of mine off the forums. I'm in a bit of a slump, though, because I've got my Israeli guy now, but I can't think of a good power. Oh, and if anyone knows Latin or Arabic, could you translate "Morning Star" into either of those languages.

my first arc is finished, but its all script. and i have no idea where to go from the first arc.

A summary, Kumo [main character] wakes up after 2 years, and the war is still going on. The lab where he was shutdown is incredibly dark, and he wakes up and wanders around, and wonders what he's doing there, with a severe case of amnesia. All he can remember is his name. Unknowingly he activates his powers, and shifts into his "cloud form". Another experiment, Abel wakes up and grabs Kumo, and knocks him out. Abel explains to him that hes an experiment of the Earth Country, but knows nothing about him. He says he'll help him get out, but he quite likes it in the dark damp muggy lab.

He shows him the door, but commicly the defense system attacks Kumo, who has no control over his powers. Luckily Abel presses the robots off switch. On the outside, they are attacked by the Lab Guard, Zanth, who is a functioning experiment. Kumo unlocks something in his body, and goes all ape crap on Zanth when he seemingly kills Abel. Abel wakes up from sleeping, and tries to stop Kumo from killing Zanth, but Kumo goes right through Abel, and kills off Zanth. He awakens an hour later, and remembers alittle of his memory, telling him to go seek the Blood Falls. Abel vowes not to leave Kumo alone again, and hopes he can help with his memory.

Now, Blood Falls arc would be the next major arc, but blehhhh. Blehhhh. It's so hard.

That sounds really good. I like how you make the main char relate to his power. The only thing my char's name (Michael) translates to is "like God" in a bunch of other languages. He controls lightning, though, so it's divinish. The only think I don't like about him so far is that for a weapon, I gave him a spear. I am not a fan of spears. I perfer a good katana myself, but I gave that to his sensei, so it works out okay.

Well, I have a story, but since I have all the drawing skills of a blindfolded mentally-handicapped swine I figured I might as well make it into a book, not a manga.

I'm fairly proud of it actually. I like to believe that I have decent, likeable, and original characters, a plotline that makes sense, and pleasant locales. I'm trying to break a lot of cliches as I go in the story.

The only problem I have is that if I write it as a book, it's going to be one looong series. I have 25 arcs planned out, and at least 8 of those arcs are big ones. Plus, I stink at writing actions scenes.

Eh, I do have a few plans in minds for comic, but being that I plan more on getting into Game Design, I'm not sure if I'll ever wind up creating them. One in particular I've fiddling with, though, deals with "super heroes" of sorts.

I think I'd rather try drawing up some of the characters and taunting everyone with it instead of outright saying what they're about. =p

Err, I really can't get too much with my ideas for backround. I wish I was more creative, or in other words, creative.
Can anyone help me a little? Toss some ideas you had but didn't use, no more. I've already replied with all I had for main stuff. If it's specific scenes or unimportant amusing/cool notes I'm pretty full of them though. That's the only thing I'm good at.

Besides, wouldn't you just want this little nugget of information so that one day, when my story is famous, you can proudly claim "I knew it was coming! I remember this guy typing about it in a forum!"

Eh, maybe I'll give some minor details some other time.

Oh, and if you are having trouble with names, try anagrams for a spin. They can be pretty helpful sometimes.

Backrounds? Give tragedy a try if you want a sympathetic character. Relatives dying maybe, or something worse. Lost lovers? Perhaps a dark drive for personal glory? There are a lot of options to take with backrounds. You could have the characters relate to someone important in the world, like Impel Down said.

If you've noticed around AP, Usopp seems to fall short, so steer clear of the weak, "useless" characters. You can't go wrong with sterotypical Shonen heroes, if you execute them in the right way. One manga I'd say is an example, but goes horribly wrong, is Busou Renkin. Incredibly stereotypical characters, that had a good chance of being cool, but fell short due to execution.

I think character design is what draws me to One Piece, and the fact that everyone is so obscure looking, save a few. Even Dragon Ball, the father of shonen didnt draw me in at the character design.

Overall, I'd quirky characters, and quirky character design = the win. My manga includes a guy who can't remember how to do anything but walk, talk and sleep, a narcoleptic who likes dark places, a girl with a split personality, and a strong man who is incredibly picky when it comes to food [like, he needs to edges off the toast, etc] Just think of way out there quirks, and go with em, no matter how abstract it may sound.

Didn't look at characters that way.. I guess I'll work on them instead of backround for now. For the trauma, I was thinking of "Meets a new friend, they pass the road and bam. Friend dead." I'll add a little reasoning and stuff around it. I have another idea for a character that wants revenge, but other than that almost all of my ideas are ripoffs.
Really, there is no such thing as original now.

In mine, so far the biggest tragity is that a major char was "killed" by the enemies, but then it turns out that he wasn't killed, he was captured and is now being controled by them against his will.

Well, here's the first chapter of my One Piece-inspired story. In the later chapters, I decide to make fun of 4Kids' edits a bit.

Read it, and I really like the idea. Although a bit too OP-ish, it still has some stuff I'd love to see develop through the story. Are there more chapters?

Oh, and I can go a little smoother with my story now thanks to you guys. For names, I want a name that means "Forbidden Spirit" in any language other than English, and in a version of one word. I want it for a category in an art on the manga so I wanted the name meaning to be a little dramatic. Can anyone suggest something?

Uhh.. Should I be honest about it?
I think they're really really bad for such a story. No offence, but why don't you try more skeches and look at tutorials?
To be more specific, aside from the fact the right chin is always messed up, I think they look too much like Yu-Gi-Oh! chars. Too many adds on the face/no adds and a normal cool look for the main char.

Like I said, I know I suck at drawing lol. But I think I can make an interesting enough story for it to work. Im pretty set on how Senshiro looks, I like his "I really dont care" look.

Basically for each I'm going for

Kumo: Eventually I think he'll wind up wearing some kind of headband, maybe goggles, with long spikey hair, similar to what he has now.

Adel: He's basically the black espada from Bleach, I want him to look tired all the time, and wear maybe a night visor [the thing Aokiji wears] since he has narcolepsy, and he'll wear it in the day time too, since he hates the light.

Senshiro: Like I said, I like his look. Basically a combination of Zoro and Kenshiro I'm looking for eventually

Jak: No idea what I want for him. If I end up using him as the "speedy" character, he'll be slimmed down, and really lanky. He's a pirate in the Ocean Country, which I think I'll be giving every person from the Ocean Country a distinguishing look.

I thank you for the critisizm, and its better then I expected, since I know I'm a HORRIBLE artist. Those were all freehand sketches, which explains the uneveness, and such. Had I took my time to actually draw them out, they'd be a tad better. But still bad.

The start was cool. Kumo's a little too hysterical though, and too optimic, while Abel's the complete opposite. I dunno, if their personalities were a tiny little more nomal I'd be happy. It's just that I'm too logical with everything I think of so it's not good to count on me too much.
Also, the reasoning is kinda weird. Why would Kumo take Abel outside or Abel take Kumo to the gate.. No specific reason.. "Sigh.. Okay.. Since you're noisy.." =S
I REALLY liked the start though. And nice use of words too. Even so, the thinking of "if only he'd know this and this…" is a no-no everywhere.

I've tried to avoid the typical cliches and included basic shonen parts such as fights, cool heroes etc. I've also included some tragedy, some heartbreak and some humour, too. I'm skeptical about giving away details, actually…but yet I want to show my ideas. Is there any way I can tell you guys without fear of them being stolen by some random guest?

It's a secret! One of those things you would want people to speculate on. But heres a rough idea about the experiments

! Experiment 1) Poo, The Proto, Poo has no physical form, and can reshape him into anything. His arms stretch, similar to Piccolo and Luffy. He's a master at martial arts. Age: 15
! Experiment 2) Zanth, The Cloned. Zanth was used to create the current day Earth Country army, which gave them an advantage in the war. The original Zanth is now an Earth Country general.
! Experiment 3) Naela, The Substinance. Naela can create weaponry from thin air, or the lifeforce in the air. One of the main characters.
! Experiment 4) Ombre, The Shadow. Shadow manipulation. But this guy is different from the rest. Ombre leads a resistance against the Sky Nation, similar to what Kumo will eventually do. Ombre is the human symbol for the Earth Nation, and all their wants/needs
! Experiment 5) Senshiro, the Fist. Muscle Manipulation, the ability to enlarge his various muscles at will. Main character
! Experiment 6) Abel, The Strength. Super human strength. Not much of a fighter, until later, when I plan on giving him the ability to bend lifeforce with his mind, giving him a kind of psychic lifeforce ability.
! Experiment 7) Mer, The Sea. Water Manipulation, a renegade pirate living in the Ocean Country.
! Experiment 8) Rumble, The Weather. Weather Manipulation, a really tall guy who uses a spear. Wears a rain coat all the time.
! Experiment 9) Kumo, the Cloud. Air manipulation. He also was the ridorana doctor's last chance effort to stop the war.
! Experiment 10) Keshka, The God. End is the perfect experiment, and the human representation of the Sky Country. If I continue to make chapters, you'll see what I mean.
! Overall, these 10 are going to turn out pretty intresting, most of them having an arc of their own.

Those sound really wierd, but might me interesting. My char's abilities get pretty complex after a while, like flesh and bone manipulation and the reorginization of the chemistry of all things (like he can control oxygen or can turn dirt into pure sodium)

What the main characters are gonna look like:

Jakobi: Short, black hair. Sort of like a pre-teen version of Luffy.

Fumiya: Older, orange-haired Alphonse Elric from the "Conquerer of Shambala" movie.

Kaori: Red hair in a ponytail.

Fanuke: Short, blonde hair. Wears a white shirt with a black flak jacket over it, and dark blue goggles around his neck. Always shown with his black and white cat, Tozuko riding on his shoulder, on his head, or walking beside him.
