used the formers post as inspiration.. if only it was as good. This would be the "second main character", the partner of the Top Hat character.

Damn, Rai, you draw pretty nice!
And Soda, think whatever you want, but you've got a lobster's chance in Hell of moving to Japan and getting into Shonen Jump. No matter how much you want to get away from your family. Even forgetting EVERYTHING else everyone's told you, you'd be competing against experienced artists that have trained, and gone to school, to draw manga. It's a MUCH tougher industry than the American comic business.
And you can say racism won't affect you, but when you're turned down for a job for being a gaijin, you'll see what we're talking about. Not to say Japan is one big asian Klan or anything, but they don't have the same obligation to be fair to foreigners that Americans do.
Captain Schmeckie, I respect your opinions, and I really appreciate the concern that you're showing. I see this as somebody's way of saying "You better bust your ass if you want to go through with this successfully" And believe me, I am. I'm not just going to run in and say "Give me a job, suckas!" I'm taking creative writing classes out the ass, and I'm already getting down the basics of Japanese from my brother. I'm concentrating hard on looking into how one would go about getting a job writing manga overseas. I really think that if I go about this the right way, I can pull it off. Thanks for the support.
PSH AW. XD I find it hard to believe someone who's going to an art school can't find a scanner and/or ask a teacher how to use it. Just stick the paper in there, press scan, and viola.
I could barely figure out how to crop the picture I have as my avatar.
I'm very computer iliterate.
If you got a scanner, I'm sure someone here could help you out.
@Rai:
ARRRRGH, I just flipped through a raw of the 1st OP vol after reading the first chapter from Stephen's..
I WANNA START WITH MY STORY ALREADY!
I wish I had enough time to actually go into it. If I could, I'd make it my career. But I can't expect anything like that though..There's always what HnG's mangaka did - cooperating with an artist. Though the artwork of someone's speciality is way more detailed and prettier than someone who does both story and art, the one who does both has an art that fits way better with the story. And I can't find anyone who would want to draw for me for free anyways.
Damn you're good. XD I + watched you on DA.
Err, did you read my post? I said an other artist drew this, dudes. That's not me. I don't even read Naruto and I can't expect to be this good!
I just wanted to say how good the guy was and to say his drawings match Seth. I even said it's shame the design is taken.
Or did you mean something else about the post, taboo?
~Generic Soda: You're really serious about it?
I mean.. It's really a life thing. You seem to go so easily into it.

I've always gone into stuff pretty easily. I really am serious about this though, I'm doing lots of stuff to ensure I have a decent chance of going through with it. Asking around, sending e-mails, and pushing myself to find new and innovative things to incorporate into my stories. I think I do a fair job at this, nothing special, but a handful of things are thing you may not have seen before.
I just got my main character's clothing just the way I like it. ^__^ wah
Man I wish I had half you guys drawing skills. I have such a problem with proportions and hands… one arm always comes out bigger, or longer then the other. And shoes/hands are really hard too. Plus, my heads/eyes come out unbalanced too.
Selling soul for drawing talent.
I still love your art, taboo. It feels unique, as opposed to the countless style copycats out there…!

I totally agree! It's a cartoony sort of realistic style.
Like JoJo's?
screw 16 chars!
What is 16 characters? I see it every now and then, but I haven't figured it out yet…
NVM, just figured it out... WOW, that was obvious...
Yeah. It's cool, I didn't get it immideatly.
For all those who wanna work for Jump someone told me that you must send in a sample volume. Every three months they decide which are the best(by that I mean showing the brightest future) Then they go through through this whole other process which I forgot. I read somwhere the Tite Kubo got in because of a letter of recomendation from DbZ creator.

Thats alot of "I heards" and "I read somewheres".
I know because I'm currently looking for a publisher of my own manga.
I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
What is your genaral idea? More or less what is the story about?
In my manga almost every major character is immortal and affliated with a ceratain element (fire, ice, wind, earth, darkness, water, and thunder).
I also added in something that I don't think anyone else has done before and that is mental manipulation of their element. I also have demons in it. The main character leaves the origanal group and froms his own force.
I have it all planned out. from beginig to end. I do all the writing and my friend draws it. He has however requested that I not share any images with anyone.
mine was going to be a US comic style book then decided to go for the manga approach, alrady wrote out a script and did draw my characters but my drawing neve come out right XD. even made little profiles for the characters too
I've got a few ideas, but I'm reluctant to share. I'm planning to start of with a fun, lighthearted series before attempting my main idea, a story filled with revenge and betrayal.
Nope, not going into more detail. Not yet anyway.
Does anyone know hebrew for Masks and can romanze it for me? Thanks (this is for my manga, if you must know)
I've always wanted to create my own Manga but I can't even draw a circle. Luckily the people behind the "For Dummies" series is releasing two books to get you drawing like the pros.
Seriously though the second book cover just makes me weep.
What exactly is being taught in those?
Manga is still just a word for japanese comics…
Anything that starts with "Big eyes, multi-colored hair" gets a mental bitch slap from me.
How to create generic stories and drawing your characters with cliche face faults. I just flipped through the first book shaking my head the entire time and I really didn't bother reading much.
Man, all you need for a good comics tutorial is the Scott Mcloud books.
especially the first one.

So, is the first one just about and the second one how to draw? And yes, that second one is eye-bleeding material.
Yippee! Here's a page from my series…
Yup. One of the characters just got stabbed in that shot.
Ehh… Though lookin' at it now, I need to straighten up the panel boxes. Ahh, well. ^_^;

As if for a cover for your face? Its Masehot/Masechot [with that strong H] or Maseha for Mask.
On the contrary, can anyone romanize "Gods" [if there's none, then "God"] in any language that's not international and the word isn't too long?
Yeah, not so original for calling an art using body energy, but I can't think of anything else with a reason =S
Thanks for the Mask thing.
Is it bad that after 4-5 years I got the script,Profile, and Page ideas and Manga ideas done only?
So far its narrowed to 2 ideas…
A.ANimals transforming into people by the use of crystal, pendants, etc
or
B. Ancient Warriors are transported to the current world or Future
Don;t know what sounds better but I hope none of the ideas currently exist in a already drawn manga.
Well they certainly aren't original ideas, to be perfectly honest….

Really?
(16 characters)
Does anyone know if immortality has been used before?
Everything has been used before most likely. The originality comes in how you develop your ideas.
I own a book called How to Draw Manga Vol.1: Compiling Characters
is this a good how to series to use to get started on basic drawing?
@The:

In what way?
Or if your talking about the basic concept…...duh.

No, there is no problem with that, you're doing just fine!

as in the basic concept with some few added twists.

have you read the last few chapters of Naruto, a dozen chapters of fights vs 2 immortals. Its been used, alot.
OK, I've developed some ideas, but it's called Vensen Railts and it's about Vikings, who are way cooler then ninjas, deathgods and pirates. And as far as I know, there isn't a whole lot of Viking manga out there.
Oh, by the way, Vensen Railts is an anagram. I love anagrams.

thats very true. Hidan's immortality is actually closer to what I use,
In my story it is a curse more then a blessing to everyone but the main character. Unlike hidan they can regrow any poart of there body, they don't need someone else to string them back together.

I like this idea. Vikings are real unique, and if they wind up being characters that are nothing like the viking stereotype, this could be really cool. Its all about how you go about executing it. Look forward to more of this idea.
My entire manga is based on the theme of fire versus Ice. the two main characters (Chad and Steven) have a naruto sasuke relationship, but once Steven leaves Chad declares them eternal enimes. The final arc is the two of them duking it out and causing a turn of events that allows me and my buddy to do a sequal.
Currently I have a good idea what I would like to do and right now I am just trying to get my art skills better as I am better than your terrible or bad drawer, but not actually good or great either so about average I guess. I have experience in story writing as I wrote on another forum about pro wrestling (yep, the scripted stuff) and put some very interesting storylines on in that field. Now I really want to start doing comic books or manga, what ever nationality you want to speak and my current manga is about animals that act, talk, and do pretty much anything humans do. Each animal character has some sort of power or something special about them whether it is being a cyborg, having technology that allows them to do things, born with a mutation, just being born with the power, training to gain the powers, or having an item that gives them the power.
The main character is a Golden Retriever like being who is a member of the Special Forces in the Army who's code name is Agent Kay Nine, his real name being K.C. Hunter. His power is a bit cliche, but also it is used to a fuller capacity than most manga/anime I have seen use and that his the ability to create energy blasts. The energy blasts are basically a substitute for a gun. He can also fight hand to hand, which is skilled at. Comparing his simplest energy blast to a simple Ki blast in DragonBall is that his simplist energy blast could knock out a physically build human and kill a almost average human.
Agent Kay Nine is a very nice and laid back person, but if he gets angry or when he fighting a dangerous opponent he gets very serious. He eats meat, fruit, and vegetables like any one else, but he prefers the meat. His biggest pet peeve is people who hurt others.
His side-kick's name is Bobby Doe, who is a Robin. Bobby Doe is one of the few major characters that doesn't have any powers, but he can cartoonishly morph his wing into a fist and in this state use his wings like arms. He is a bit of a coward, but stands up whenever he is finally put into the situation and proves to be pretty strong. However when things are looking grim he will revert back to a coward showing all doubt. Bobby Doe isn't with Agent Kay Nine as soon as the manga begins, but he comes in quickly after.
I will try to get up the character pictures for Agent Kay Nine and Bobby Doe soon and also I will try to get up the cover art for the first chapter by the end of the week.
Edit: Also if anyone has any tips or turtoils on drawing cartoonish anthropomorphic animals, I would be very grateful.

Best tip I can give you is to study the artworks of your favorite artists, and practice. Don't copy their style, but see how they, and other artists, depict the things you want to depict. Learn from them, while deciding how you want to do things.
